Case Study: Scheduling a Golf League rusty275 09/18/2011 Chris Lane has requested a schedule for the club’s golf league. The league will consist of 18 couples for a season of 17 weeks. Each couple will golf against every other team one time. The schedule has been set up for Saturdays and Sundays, with 5 games on Saturdays and 4 games on Sundays. Chris has advised that it is possible that one couple might cancel, so a secondary schedule has been created. Schedule A is for the 18 couple league and schedule B is set up for 17. Since schedule B has an uneven number of teams, a false team has been created and each week one team will have that week off from competing.

Case Study Philadelphia Phillies

...“Phillies” (due to its geographical roots in Philly) was Reach decision. In 1901, after losing several games and some of their best players, the team is sold for first time. The Phillies has the second-longest streak of consecutive losing seasons in American professional sports, sixteen straight from 1933 to 1948.The franchise has won two World Series championships (against Kansas City in 1980, Tampa Bay in 2008), and seven National League pennants. Phillies had own five different home stadiums. The most recent one have a fan-friendly design and is part of their complex marketing strategy to increase revenue and happy customers. In 2013 Forbes ranked the Phillies #41team in the World’s most valuable Sports Team. The franchise is estimated to be worth $893 million. But, how does a sport team keep increasing its revenue during bad seasons? The Phillies not only represent a changeable and unpredictable “product/brand” but also compete in a market with many other substitutes that may take away fun attention, support and possible sponsorships. In this case study, we would analyze the team’s market, and its complex segmented target. Marketing concepts would be applied to establish possible solutions to a team which major problem is the fact that they are marketing a team/brand that its owners “Unfortunately can’t promise fans in the stands a win every game.” The Phillies as any other sport team have a major challenge, their own product/brand offered. Marketing and advertising a sport...

...AFTER READING THIS CHAPTER, YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO: 1 Discuss price elasticity of demand and how it can be applied. 2 Explain the usefulness of the total revenue test for price elasticity of demand. 3 Describe price elasticity of supply and how it can be applied. 4 Apply cross elasticity of demand and income elasticity of demand. 4 Elasticity In this chapter we extend Chapter 3’s discussion of demand and supply by explaining elasticity, an extremely important concept that helps us answer such questions as: Why do buyers of some products (for example, ocean cruises) respond to price increases by substantially reducing their purchases while buyers of other products (say, gasoline) respond by only slightly cutting back their purchases? Why do higher market prices for some products (for example, chicken) cause producers to greatly increase their output while price rises for other products (say, gold) cause only limited increases in output? Why does the demand for some products (for example, books) rise a great deal when household income increases while the demand for other products (say, milk) rises just a little? Elasticity extends our understanding of markets by letting us know the degree to which changes in prices and incomes affect supply and demand. Sometimes the responses are substantial, other times minimal or even nonexistent. But by knowing what to expect, businesses and the government can do a better job in deciding what to produce, how much to charge, and, surprisingly...

...Klamath County Community Health Western Governors University Klamath County has many health needs and is at risk for high mortality and morbidity. Heart disease is the leading cause of death followed by cancer and chronic respiratory disease. (The Healthy Communities Institute, 2013). Smoking, obesity, and poor air quality are all contributing factors to these health risks. Also, as the general population continues to age pre-existing medical conditions, chronic health problems and weakened immune systems increase the areas aging population's susceptibility to influenza and pneumonia. However, only 57.8% of adults over 65 received an influenza vaccine in Klamath County (The Healthy Communities Institute, 2013). And unfortunately access to healthcare remains woefully unsatisfactory in the County. Lastly, and most heartbreaking, is that the child abuse rates in Klamath County are among the highest in the state (The Healthy Communities Institute, 2013), while conducting the County Health Survey these three critical areas of concern have become painfully evident. All three issues should be addressed according to the Health People 2020 goals that have been set forth to improve the health and well-being of all Americans (Healthy People 2020, n.d.). WINDSHIELD SURVEY Klamath County, Oregon, is the Southernmost County in the state, boarded by California to the South, the Fremont National Forest to the East, and by the Deschutes National Forest to the North and West.
