...RESEARCH PROPOSAL TOPIC: Rising inflation in Pakistan: Causes and Remedies SUBMITTED BY: NAILA ERUM NATIONAL DEFENCE UNIVERSITY, ISLAMABAD Rising inflation in Pakistan: Causes and Remedies Introduction Pakistan is currently facing unprecedented high Inflation. High inflation is contributing to increase in vulnerability and fall in real income of lower, middle and fixed income segments of the society. It is increasing uncertainty about future scenario of the business environment and instability of the financial system, erosion of business and investors’ confidence, slowing down of real economic activities, investment, economic growth and employment. Inflation is known as a rise in the general level of prices of goods and services in an economy over a period of time. When the general price level rises, each unit of currency buys fewer goods and services. Consequently, there is a decline in the real value of money and purchasing power. Inflation is an indicator of a country’s macro economic stability and provides important insight on the state of the economy and the sound macroeconomic policies that govern it. A stable inflation not only gives a nurturing environment for economic growth, but also uplifts the poor and fixed income citizens who are the most vulnerable in society. ...may offer an advantage). Then, after reviewing your notes and readings, identify 2 different social-psychological principles that appear to be operating in the events or individuals depicted in the film . For each principle that you identify: (a) Provide a clip to show in class. You may assume that we will have internet access, or you can bring in a DVD (or even a VHS tape), or you may create the entire presentation on DVD to show in class. (b) describe in detail the social-psychological principle you believe is relevant. Your job here is to demonstrate that you understand the principle or theory, and that you can describe it in your own words. You don’t need to do library research for this – using your text or your lecture notes as resources is fine. You need you to show us that you have a good understanding of the concept/principle. It’s best if you are specific about the principles you discuss. For example, don’t just indicate that your scene illustrates helping, or conformity, or persuasion, or aggression. Instead, indicate what specific theory, or principle or aspect of helping/conformity/persuasion/aggression, etc. that your scene illustrates. (c) Elaborate on how the selected scene illustrates the...

Although, the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) of Bangladesh has tried to correct the irregular behavior observed in the market, very often it is argued that lack of proper and firm decisions from the regulator’s side has contributed to make the market more unstable rather than to reduce it. The paper attempts to identify the casual relationship between the observed volatility in the country’s major bourses namely the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and the regulatory decisions taken by the SEC empirically. Does Leadership Exist in Management

...Does leadership exist in management? In order to find this out you need to look at management as a whole and leadership as a whole. Leadership is defined as, the position of function of a leader, a person who guides or directs a group. Another common meaning is the process that involves attempts to influence other people in obtaining organizational goals. Given these definitions, you can see that leadership can be anywhere. A person doesn’t need to hold a certain position in a company or organization to be considered a leader; it’s not a job title. There are several types of leadership, laissez-faire, autocratic (authoritarian), participative (democratic), transactional, and transformational. Laissez-faire leadership, when translated, means leave do or hands off. This form of leadership allows subordinates more freedoms to complete their tasks. The employees make decisions instead of the managers. Autocratic or authoritarian leadership is a type of leadership where a leader acts as the dictator. All decision will come from the leader with little to no input from subordinates. Autocratic leadership is highly effective. These leaders are highly motivated, knowledgeable, and feel fulfilled when they achieve something on their own. Participative or democratic leadership involves cooperation by all members of a group or team to get things done. This type of leadership allows leaders to work closer and together with their subordinates. Advantages of participative leadership are...

...Issues and Concerns of Commodity Derivative Markets in India: An Agenda for Research Nilanjan Ghosh 1. Introduction Commodity derivative markets have traditionally been a contentious issue at various policy forums across the world, particularly with the imbroglio created by allegations from various corners that they encourage excessive speculation and are therefore responsible for the recent commodity price escalation. While this suspicion of excessive speculation in the commodity markets has always been there among policymakers in developing nations like India, it has become more widespread since 2008 in the wake of worldwide inflationary pressures on food and energy. The sudden deflation in the value of various assets underlying different derivatives, which includes commodity derivatives, in the wake of the global meltdown has provoked greater apprehension about the economic utility of futures markets. The suspicion has reached such a high that even the U.S., the biggest proponent of market forces with the most active commodity exchanges in the world, is considering new modes of regulation, and is also investigating the role of commodity derivative trading in the steep rise in prices of wheat, rice, and crude oil. On the other hand, ever since commodity derivative trading was allowed in India in the new millennium, there has always been a hue and cry against such markets, with the alleged notion of excessive “speculation”, though there has rarely been any evidence for it. Rather...

Geoengineering Research

...industries, not to mention slow-moving governmentssome scientists are beginning to take the seemingly outrageous schemes a lot more seriously. Here are the mechanics behind five plans to jury-rig the Earth. 1. Copy a Volcano (Photograph by Tarko Sudiarno/AFP/Getty Images) A volcanic eruption can bellow many million tons of sulfur-dioxide gas into the atmosphere, creating a cloud that blocks some of the sun's radiation. By injecting the atmosphere with sulfur, some scientists believe they could likewise block solar radiation and potentially cool the planet. Sulfur dioxide reacts with water in the atmosphere to create droplets of sulfuric acid, says Rutgers University environmental scientist Alan Robock. Those droplets are particularly good at scattering the sun's light back out into space. And because sulfur doesn't heat the stratosphere as much as other aerosols, it wouldn't work against the cooling effect. Hydrogen sulfide is an even better candidate for atmospheric seeding than sulfur dioxide, but scientists would need an awful lot of it: 5 megatons, every year, to offset humanity's contribution to global warming. That's like experiencing the eruption of a volcano a quarter of the size of the cataclysmic Mt. Pinatubo, annually. But while a volcano has intense underground pressure to propel sulfur upwards, human means to do so are limited. "There's no way to do it today," Robock says. Some scientists...

Feasibility Study

...CHAPTER I INTRODUCTION AND SCOPE OF THE STUDY A. Introduction Organizing a business, needs a thorough investigation and research. A Feasibility study is the most efficient one for it examines and ponders all aspects of the business. Pizza, as we know it today is a bread crust covered with a tomato base and then flavored with other toppings. Most of us think of pizza as an Italian food and most of us are right. The word "pizza" means "pie" and is a derivative of the Roman term "picea". The Italians were also the first to use tomatoes on their pizzas. The real explosion in the popularity of pizza took place in the 1094’s; during WWI U.S. troops stationed in Italy had their first taste of pizza. When they arrive home they brought with them an appreciation for this great tasting food, and the growth of the U.S. pizza consumption began and today pizza is one of the most favorite food of many Filipinos, according to European nutrition research on the eating habits of people with cancer of the mouth, esophagus, throat or colon, showed those who ate pizza at least once a week had less chance of developing cancer. B. Name and Location of the Firm A business name is one of the most essential things to be prepared in starting a business. PIZZAPA came from the words, pizza and pasta which serve as the specialty of our business. Aside from that the reason why we choose that name “PIZZAPA” because it is originated from the word “Pizza pa” (pizza + isa pa = PIZAPA) so that customers...

Some will argue that tradition staffing is the best method because it’s been proven to achieve great results within the business industry for many years. While others will argue that internet staffing can achieve the same results. Language Education in Nigeria

...Formal Western type education was introduced into the country by Christian Missionaries just before the middle of the nineteenth century. For about four decades after that initial date, both the nature and main thrust of Language Education in the country were completely left to those missionaries to decide (Taiwo 1980: 10 - 11; Fafunwa 1974:92). And given the well-known belief of most such missionaries, first, that the African child was best taught in his native language (Hair 1967:6), and, second, that the interests of Christianity would best be served by actually propagating that religion in indigenous languages, it is not at all surprising that the teaching and learning of indigenous languages received much genuine attention in those early days of Western type education in the country. But not everybody liked or approved of the...

Development of Metallurgy in the Southern Levant in the Light of New Dates of Slag Deposits

...Abstract: An ongoing project for reconstructing the behavior of the geomagnetic field intensity during the last seven millennia has yielded several new dates for archaeometallurgical sites in the Southern Levant. These dates shed new light on the dawn of metallurgy in the region as well as on the quality of technological development and its relation to social and political structures. This paper introduces the methodology and concepts behind the archaeomagnetic project as well as the principles of the applied dating technique. In addition, the paper presents the archaeomagnetic results, discusses the alternative dating of several archaeometallurgical sites and explores the implication of these results on our understanding of the interaction between technology and society in the past. For the latter, the results particularly challenge the "Standard View of Technology" (Pfaffenberger, 1992), and suggest a complex, nonlinear evolution of copper industry in the Southern Levant eScholarship provides open access, scholarly publishing services to the University of California and delivers a dynamic research platform to scholars worldwide. It is a common agreement that morality is located within the scope of duty. Kant corroborates this held agreement by stating the categorical imperative which every human is obliged to act upon. He conceived this categorical imperative as the moral law which all those who claim to be moral beings have to live on. However, he also affirmed...
