Subject: Good leader Vs Bad Leader Mother Teresa was chosen as the good leader for this assignment. Mother Teresa was born on August 26, 1910. There was some confusion on when she was really born. She was baptized on the 27th of August as Agnes Gonxha Bojaxhiu, the day that is sometimes is considered her actual birthdate. Her father passed away when she was only 8 years old, the cause of his death still to this date remains unknown. There are some speculations that he was poisoned. At the age of 18, she decided to become a nun this is when she took the name sister Mary Teresa. Mother Teresa first made her vows in India where she would stay there for 17 years. Mother Teresa was a teacher at Saint Mary’s high school later on she became the principal of Saint Mary’s.(The Biography Cannel). Mother Teresa took the Final vows on May 24, 1937 this is when she actually became Mother Teresa. On September 10, 1946 Mother Teresa had a second calling Christ spoke to her telling her to abandon teach and begin working in the slums and helping out the poor. Mother Teresa need permission to do this since she already made a vow of obedience. It took about a year and a half to get the permission she needed. In January of 1948, Mother Teresa did get the approval to go ahead with the new calling. Mother Teresa established in old buildings a home for the dying. She won recognition for new congregation In October of 1950. This is where Mother Teresa made a great leader helping the poor and the sick. (The Biography Channel). Mother Teresa did have some controversy. She got some criticism over her statement of abortion.” I feel the greatest destroyer of peace today is abortion” Mother Teresa Quoted this during her speech of the noble peace prize which she won in 1979. Mother Teresa died at the age of 87 on September 5, 1997. Mother Teresa will always be known as a great leader of our nation.(The Biography Channel) President William Jefferson Clinton can be viewed as either a good or bad world leader. However, his one major mark against him is his public lie about his impeachment. This one mark, and there are others, makes him a bad world leader. Not only did he lie to every person in the entire nation by saying “I did not have sexual relations with that woman” (Mitchell, 1998). He broke various laws in order to have his affair with the intern, Monica S. Lewinsky (Mitchell, 1998). President Clinton was charged with misleading a Federal grand jury on August 17, 1998 by lying to the jury about his relationship to Ms. Lewinsky (Mitchell, 1998). His second charge was inducing others to lie in order to conceal his affair with Ms. Lewinsky (Mitchell, 1998). The third charge of perjury in a sexual harassment lawsuit with Paula Jones was rejected (Mitchell, 1998). The final charge was abuse of power stemming from President Clinton’s legalistic answers put to him by the house judiciary (Mitchell, 1998). Every one of President Clinton’s charges was stemmed from his own personal motives. He tried to cover up both Monica Lewinsky and Paula Jones so that the public would still think he is a good political leader. Even had he not tried to cover up his affairs, President Clinton would have had a great presidential career. He had the lowest crime rate, high home ownership, a budget surplus, reformed welfare and eliminated the federal deficit ("Clinton - procon.org," 2014). All of this he did while the opposing Republican party controlled Congress ("Clinton - procon.org," 2014). So I would propose that Clinton is a bad ethical world leader but is a great political leader.

Good vs Bad Speech

...Good vs Bad Speech A good speech consists of two major things; good aesthetics and strong organization and knowledge. Having these two things will help you deliver your speech and make you look better when you deliver your speech. If you give a speech that you know absolutely nothing about, you’re going to look like a fool. Ronald Reagan’s speech was good because he had good posture, he made direct eye contact, he was well-dressed and he had knowledge of what he was talking about. If you want to have a good speech, you should make sure that you use these important things. Using good aesthetics will improve your performance or score on your speech. You should make sure that you keep eye contact with the audience. Keeping eye contact with your audience will ensure you that they are interested in your speech (“Using Eye”). It can also give you feedback. When you are delivering a speech, you want to move around a little. But, you should know your environment and your audience to know how much you can move around without getting them distracted or running into something. Before you deliver your speech, you should make sure that you are dressed correctly for your environment. Knowing and using these thing will help you understand how you’re performing during your speech, allow interaction with the audience, and gain you appearance points (“How To”). Strong organization and knowledge is another important thing to keep in mind when you deliver a speech. Make sure you speak at an...

Good vs. Bad Relationships

...Osas Odigie Mr. Aube Dec 11, 2012 Characteristics Of a Good and Bad Relationship 1. There are many factors that determine if a relationship could be considered either good or bad. Moreover, a good relationship can be determined by discovering the many factors that make it so. I believe that there are two stages to a good relationship: the beginning, and the ride. It is essential in every good relationship to have a good beginning. Every relationship begins with love and one does not need to be “in love” to be in a relationship; this is misunderstood between many couples. Anyway, love is the beginning of every relationship but in order for a relationship to be considered good, that love must remain constant or increase throughout the relationship. It is important for individuals to understand that in the beginnning, mistakes are prone to happen because there is no such thing as a flawless relationship. The ride of a relationship is basically everything else; the rest of the relationship. It is obvious that one does not show love through anger or hate and therefore there are specific ways in which love can be shown and these are what allows for a good ride in a relationship. Love can be broken down into five major parts. Respect, Trust/Support, Honesty, Responsibility and Romance. Respect is of the highest importance in every relationship. Individuals must view their spouse as equal to them and not greater or lesser. Couples must listen to to one another, valuing each other's...

Good vs Bad People

...Good Action/Good Person I consider a good action to be something that helps others and is unselfish. Within the last year I have helped my Grandma through her cancer treatments. I believe that this is a good action because it was helping my Grandma in a time of need when she needed an extra hand. I took time out of my school schedule in order to help her get to and from the treatments, helped her around the house and visited with her giving moral support. I would get up early and drive her to the doctors every morning then go to school and then back to her house to take her to the doctor’s office again later on in the day. She had surgery twice and each time I spent the night at her house just to make sure she would be alright since she was not used to taking medicine. It was a rough couple of weeks but worth every minute of my time. In the end she was cancer free. A good action is something that you do not have to do but choose to do so just to help others. I decided to help my Grandma because I thought it was the right thing to do and it was something that I wanted to help her get past it. I call helping my Grandma through her cancer treatments as a good action because it helped her through a very difficult time and made me feel good about helping her. I wish I would have gotten the chance to do this on better circumstances but I would not change my decision for anything I know that my Grandma greatly appreciated everything that I did for her and that is all the thanks I...

Good Boss vs Bad Boss

...Good Boss vs. Bad Boss There are many traits that a boss needs; like communication, respect and mentoring. These traits and others will decide whether you are a good boss or bad. It will depends on how one looks at it, are you an employee or a boss. Bosses will come and go, however the good ones will always stand out from the bad ones. At the same time, ironically, it’s easy to spot both extremes, good and bad. Everyone has a difference of opinion on what makes a good boss. I have worked for several bosses and the good ones outweigh the bad. When treated with respect and understanding an employee feels good about the job they are doing, and the boss. Communication and respect are important keys to any relationship, and the relationship between a boss and an employee is no exception. Because employees are the backbone of any business, a bad employee can negatively impact a business. Good bosses teach, train, and listen to their employees when they make suggestions, as they come from personal experience with customers or with a work situation that they have found that needs attention. Communication is key in a manager and employee relationship, understanding each other is key, questions need to be asked if needed to make sure everyone is on the same page. An employee’s perspective differs from the perspective of a boss, therefore meaningful discussion between both parties can bring positive changes and this will promote on a dialog of both...

Good Boss vs Bad Boss

...Good Boss vs. Bad Boss Cherie "Stacy" Martin COM/170 Elements of University Composition and Communication I January 28, 2012 Deidra Powell-Wallace Good Boss vs. Bad Boss There are many aspects of becoming a boss but , it is the way you present yourself, that determines of you are a good boss or a bad boss. When you think of a boss, how would you define them as a good boss or a bad boss? A good boss is one that has respect for everyone she would be understanding, knowledgeable, caring, and a good solid leader. To become that leader she would have great organizational skills, which include setting a realistic goal for the day. Make a systematic plan as to what is the most important to the least important thing to do for the day, initiate your plan by delegating it out to your employees, and follow up throughout the day to make sure you are training and teaching your employees. This will help them create and teach them how to achieve a goal by the end of the day. Always be prepared for the unexpected, but still maintain your goal. A bad boss is one that has no respect, no knowledge, does not like her job and has no concept of how to plan a day’s work or even reach a goal. She would be the type of boss that expects you to know what to do, then if you mess the project up you get yelled at or even are fired. When it was no fault of yours it was because your boss is not a leader at all. She may come to work late and want the employee to do all the work. She...

Good Day vs Bad Day

...GS1145 Bendall Short Answer 5.1 Good Day vs Bad Day Breckinridge School of Nursing Barbara Walker Abstract Anyone working as a nursing assistant has chosen a very challenging path. Poor compensation, workplace politics, short staffing, conflict between coworkers, irate and difficult residents, miscommunication, heavy lifting and the loss of those for whom we care all make for a tough work environment. I definitely have locked myself in the linen closet to get myself together moments. So, why do I keep coming back? Why do I stay? First of all, I embrace the challenge. I thrive on it. In my life, it is a rare and beautiful thing to be able to bring order to chaos rather than the other way around. I work at Cardinal Hill Rehabilitation Hospital and I have to say, the patients inspire me every day. We have a variety of patients; with cerebral palsy, Parkinson’s disease, cancer, dementia, brain and spinal cord injuries and just knee or hip replacements that still laugh and love and find joy in nothing short of amazing. It’s such an incredible gift to be a part of their lives…to walk them through the tough days and celebrate with them during their triumphs. They have shown me the uselessness of the word impossible. They all touch my heart, and I hope I touch their heart too. Good Day vs Bad Day I have to say that I’m proud of the work that I do. Nursing assistants come in all shapes and sizes. We are both male and female. Our Physical appearances are different...

Good Boss vs. Bad Boss

...employees feel that as long as they do their job everything will be okay, but is that true? Do the actions of the supervisor influence the job? Let’s look how an efficient vs. an inefficient supervisor influences the workplace, as well as production. How efficient supervisors influence the workplace An efficient supervisor is easy to work with and tries to create an enjoyable working environment by doing and provided several things to his employees. To start he mentors and inspires his employees by his own actions. The efficient supervisor helps the employee learn and grow so they can be the best, therefore when necessary he goes the extra step by physically getting down on the job; demonstrating to the employees that he knows how to complete the job. Due to his experience he is able to teach his employees. Another thing that influences the workplace by the efficient supervisor is his involvement on the job, is that he is able to listen and evaluate the employees’ needs and then attempts to meet them. He is a good team member as well as a leader. An efficient supervisor has good communication skills, and morale. When a supervisor has excellent communication skills it means the supervisor is willing to keep in touch with the employees by communicating with the employee regardless of their position, while proving good morale. This is commonly known as “Open Door Policy”. When a supervisor shows interest in his employees and co-workers it makes it easier for the employee to approach...

Good vs Bad Web Design

...meaning the areas to click to get to the other pages within the website are easy to find. A well-designed website should persuade the visitor to want to spend more time visiting the site and return to it again in the future. Poorly designed websites have a tendency to “shock” the visitor by using unreadable combinations of color (like a blue background with red text), confusing layout, unclear or unusable navigation and unreadable fonts. These are some aspects that determine the design differences between a “successful” and an “unsuccessful” website, which is what I’m going to talk about. Web design and development is my major, and knowing these differences are some of the basics we are taught. So how is it decided that a website is good or bad? Everyone has their own opinion so it can sometimes be difficult to make this determination, but there are quite a few aspects that most professional web designers agree upon when designing a website for a client. The first aspect is purpose and clarity. Successful websites have a well-defined purpose, so focusing on this aspect is helpful in the design process. Some things to consider are: will the site be a source of information on a topic, endorsing a service, advertising a product, or to inform people about you? If the purpose is to make money, the website will require different features than an informational type of website or a site that is intended for family and friends. It should be...

...develop a set of “rules of thumb” for when they encounter different circumstances. They establish these rules with the hopes of somewhat standardizing their way of thinking as well as how to allocate resources for each instance. The guidelines are generally developed to recognize patterns and opportunities. Hirschhorn recommends managers create a 2 x 2 table to help illustrate this concept and to categorize its different states. Each axis would include a “hi” and “lo” status with the top right box representing the “Hi-Hi” state. The “Hi-Hi” state would represent the situation which required the expert’s immediate attention (Hirschhorn, 2001, p. 12) Below is an example of a polarity map for my argument. Rihanna's Personality

...Robyn Rihanna Fenty (born February 20, 1988), known by her stage name Rihanna is a Barbadian recording artist, actress and fashion designer. She lived the life of a normal island girl going to Combermere, a top sixth form school. Rihanna won numerous beauty pageants and performed Mariah Carey "Hero" in a school talent show. Her life changed forever when one of her friends introduced her to Evan Rodgers, a producer from New York who was in Barbados for a vacation with his wife, who is a native. Rodgers arranged for her to go to New York to meet Jay-Z, CEO of Def Jam Records. He heard her sing and knew she was going to be incredibly successful. She was 16 when she was signed to Def Jam. Since then, she's amassed phenomenal success. After watching Rihanna’s 2013 Grammy performance of her hit song ‘Stay’ it led me to conclude that Rihanna has a Strong personality, an assumption which is based off the application of Evolutionary psychology and Existential psychology concepts. As she sang, the audience could feel her raw emotion, it didn’t feel rehearsed it felt real, which was only suitable since the song can be seen as a representation of the current dilemma she currently faces in her love life with ex lover Chris Brown. Existential Psychology is the study of human existence, however Rollo May focuses on concepts like freedom, responsibility, Authenticity, Death, courage, anxiety, destiny, dasein , daimonic , etc. All of which can be found in the traces of rihanna’s personality that...

Education

...book “The ego and the id” he discusses this theory of instincts at length. Freud[1962] in his discussion of the two classes of instincts states that the first class is the sexual instincts or Eros. This is a "...selfpreservative instinct,..."(P30). On the other hand there is the death instinct whose task it is to, "...lead organic life back into the inanimate state;..."(P30). He is thus entering into the field of the philosophy of opposites. Human nature, life and the universe is unerringly a collection of opposites. The answer to the question, “Is it possible to have something that does not have an opposite?” begs unending cognition. Hyams(1998) notes this in her article on dissociation. She says that the world is full of polarities - good/bad, inhaling/exhaling, high/low and so on. In addition the is yin/yang, protons/electrons, left/right, black/white, matter/anti-matter and so on endlessly. Does something exist that does not have an opposite? I am yet to think of one. As soon as one defines ‘x’, then ‘not x’ is immediately defined as well. However that is for the philosophers to conjugate over. THEORY OF OPPOSITES Freud’s theory of these two instincts certainly is a theory of opposites. One problem with such theories is that they can become static. One discusses what is a manifestation of Eros (the life instinct) and what is a manifestation of Thanatos (the death instinct). Eros = love, procreation, win/win situations, peace and cooperation, god. Thanatos = hate, murder, game...
