This was my first experience completing an on-line group project, and it was not nearly as difficult as I thought it would be. Some of us were at a slight disadvantage with the project being assigned over the holiday which caused some group members unable to contribute much to the project. However, other members contributed more and we were able to successfully complete the assignment. What amazed me was how each of us had our own individual contributions that truly added to the finished product. When I submitted my portion of the assignment, I thought it was well done, but as each team member added his or her own input, I realized I had missed some things. The additions enhanced the meaning of the standard and aided in successful completion and met the standards set forth by the rubric. Needless to say, I am quite pleased with my group! Students are tested in reading, mathematics, writing, and science. The data collected from the AIMS assessment is used for a variety of purposes, the biggest being to track a student’s yearly academic progress in each core subject area, and to track individual student’s and create individualized plans for those students falling below grade level. If the school as a whole, has a large percentage that falls far below in a certain subject area, the data is then used to develop a campus wide plan of action to improve those scores for the next school year. This plan would include the use of multiple interventions that would provide students with more individualized skills practice, as well as include professional development on alternate teaching styles and methods for teachers. With the development of interventions combined with better teacher training, school improvement can be achieved. The CDC (2015) estimates that Hispanics are nearly 3 times as likely to lack insurance as whites. The inadequate insurance of Hispanics can be ascribed to the economic status of the group.
