| | | |I arrived at a client’s house with Lyn to hoist patient from her | |
| | | |bed into her arm chair as this is her daily routine. Lyn | |
| | | |introduced herself and then asked permission for us to hoist her,| |
| | | |to which client agreed. She then asked the client if she could | |
| | | |go and wash her hands which she did before putting gloves and | |
| | | |apron on. First Lyn carried out a risk assessment according to | |
| | | |client’s care plan and also of the room to make sure that the | |
| | | |room was clear of any obstacles such as trailing leads, rugs, | |
| | | |pets etc. We agreed that Lyn would take the lead in hoisting as | |
| | | |Lyn mentioned that this could confuse the patient if both of us | |
| | | |took the lead. Lyn checked the hoist (which was of a manual type)| |
| | | |to make sure that there was an up to date inspection label insitu| |
| | | |because she said this should be done regularly as required by | |
| | | |‘Lifting Operations & Equipment Regulations 1998 (LOLER) due to | |
| | | |her recently attending Mandatory Training Update. Lyn then | |
| | | |checked the sling to make sure it was the correct size and not | |
| | | |damaged. If there was a problem either with the hoist or sling | |
| | | |Lyn would have put a note on the item stating Not to Be Used and | |
| | | |reported back to the Shift Co-ordinator. She then explained what| |
| | | |we were going to do to obtain full co-operation from the client. | |
| | | |This meant the client was more relaxed and prepared to move with | |
| | | |us because Lyn had explained our intentions. As the client was | |
| | | |able to sit forward we were able to slide the sling behind her | |
| | | |back then she laid back and was able to lift her lower half to | |
| | | |enable us to position the sling correctly ready for hoisting. Lyn| |
| | | |positioned the hoist legs under the bed and put the brakes on for| |
| | | |safety reasons. We then stood either side of the bed to hook the | |
| | | |sling in position. Lyn then asked the client to cross her arms | |
| | | |and put chin on her chest ready for lifting. This is to prevent | |
| | | |them from catching their fingers and supporting their head when | |
| | | |lifting. We raised her into a sitting position over the bed all | |
| | | |the time reassuring the client. Lyn then took the brakes off and | |
| | | |manoeuvred the client over the chair. While assisting Lyn she | |
| | | |released the knob which in turn lowered the hoist beam until the| |
| | | |client was sat comfortably in her chair. Lyn then released the | |
| | | |knob further thus enabling the hoist beam to be lowered ready for| |
| | | |the sling to be removed, all the time making sure that the client| |
| | | |was comfortable and safe. We unhooked the sling from the hoist. | |
| | | |Lyn then removed the hoist and positioned it in a safe resting | |
| | | |place and applied the brakes. We both removed the sling from the | |
| | | |client and then placed in over the hoist. All through this | |
| | | |procedure Lyn appeared confident and had a good understanding of | |
| | | |manual handling procedures. After ensuring the client was safe | |
| | | |and comfortable we removed our gloves and apron, applied alcohol | |
| | | |gel to hands. Then before leaving sign client’s attendance | |
| | | |record which is kept in the client’s home. | |

...Group Consumer Analysis: Victoria’s Secret | MKTG 425-101 | Michelle Fox, Tyler Gullivan, Shannon Johnston, Sara Seeger, Colin Watts | Executive Summary Victoria’s Secret is one of, if not the most popular women’s lingerie and clothing store in the United States. They are known for their higher priced, sexy, and sometimes promiscuous clothing. Victoria’s Secret has come up with many different innovations after first opening their door, such as a make-up line, body care line, and PINK teenage line. The next logical step is for Victoria’s Secret to create a baby clothing line. The baby clothing line, entitled Baby Secret, would have various types of infant and toddler clothing, and would be classic and simple, yet fashion-forward. A focus group was interviewed to find out their feelings on the Victoria’s Secret brand as a whole, and the new baby line. From these findings, a rationale was built which helped form a new target segment, examples of possibly baby products, and recommendations of company changes in strategy and tactics. All of these elements confirmed the original proposition that the Victoria’s Secret new baby clothing line is the next logical step in the Victoria’s Secret expansion plan in order to generate more revenue, and capture a different target market. By capturing a different target segment with the baby clothing line, the hope is that these customers will become loyal Victoria’s Secret customers in future years. Table of Contents Executive...
