Crayola Color Cycle
Crayola and schools across North America have banded together to help kids understand the importance of their role in protecting the environment. That’s why we launched Crayola Color Cycle. Through this initiative, students in K-12 schools across the continental United States and parts of Canada can collect used markers and send them to a conversion facility where they will be transformed into clean-burning fuel. Providing our consumers with safe, high-quality and age-appropriate products is a top priority at Crayola. Since our brand's beginning in 1903, we've ensured our products are non-toxic and safe. We value the trust that parents, teachers, and children have in Crayola products.

As the leading brand of children's art materials, we have always taken a leadership role in product safety. Crayola adheres to all government and industry safety standards. Our Quality Assurance team continuously works to ensure our raw materials and finished products are safe for consumers and comply with government directives and voluntary standards.

Being a good corporate citizen

Crayola headquarters, manufacturing facilities and sales offices are located in communities where our employees and their families live, work and play. We believe it's important to support and invest in those areas by being a good corporate citizen and taking actions that help to create a vibrant community and a stable business climate.

We provide monetary and product donations to our local communities and organizations in need, focusing primarily on the arts, health, education and welfare.

In addition, hundreds of our employees give their time and talent, providing thousands of volunteer hours every year to local non-profit boards and civic organizations, as well as at community events and activities.

We believe it's important to give back to our communities and we strive to make the world a better place to live.
Crayola Cares
The intent of our philanthropy is to support local 501(c)3 nonprofit organizations and schools that nurture and foster creatively alive children in Lehigh and Northampton Counties in Pennsylvania and Phillipsburg, New Jersey. We want to ensure that children have their basic physical and emotional needs met. We believe this means giving them the time, space and opportunities to explore, pretend, imagine, create and question.
Crayola’s grant program includes cash and product donations to nonprofit organizations that address the needs of children through projects in the arts, education, health and welfare and civic affairs.

Crayola’s Arts in Education Grants for Schools are for private and public schools, grades K through 8.
The Arts: A rich arts environment ensures a high quality of life for all citizens and provides economic vitality to our community. Our company mission is to help parents and educators raise creatively alive kids. Crayola is committed to the visual arts.
In considering requests for support, priority is given to arts organizations that stress excellence and community participation, especially where children are involved. Special consideration is given to programs that stress visual arts.

Performing arts organizations and public broadcasting programs will be considered if the proposed programs complement the company's long-term strategies aimed at encouraging hands-on creative expression.
Additional support for arts organizations is possible through the employee matching-gifts program.

Education: Crayola is committed to enhancing education opportunities at all levels with a strong emphasis on early childhood, special needs and quality arts-in-education initiatives.
Health and Welfare: The Lehigh Valley United Way receives the majority of the corporate funding allocated to this area. Crayola generally refrains from making annual contributions to agencies that receive United Way funding. Priorities in funding are made to agencies and programs that serve disadvantaged children, the elderly and the disabled as well as families of our employees.

Civic Affairs: A small portion of our annual funding is reserved for civic programs and events.
All organizations receiving any support from Crayola must affirm the nondiscrimination policy for Crayola. The policy is as follows: All recipients of grants, sponsorship dollars and in-kind support from any of Crayola’s giving programs must not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, age, gender, sexual orientation, national origin, disability, veteran or marital status.

Areas Not Funded: Crayola does not generally provide support for the following: * Organizations outside Lehigh and Northampton Counties, PA and Phillipsburg, N.J. * Individuals * Religious organizations * Fraternal organizations (Rotary, Lions, Kiwanis, etc.) * Political organizations (election committees) * Individual child care centers * Nursing and convalescent homes * Hospitals * Labor groups * Social clubs * Athletic organizations * Government agencies * Symposiums, conventions, conferences or seminars * Poster contests
In addition, organizations eligible for support generally will not be funded when the purpose is to cover any of the following: * Capital projects or multi-year campaigns * Past operating deficits or travel expenses * Endowment funds * Non-product goodwill advertising * Undefined operational support * Advertising in programs

Powered By The Sun

With the help of over 30,000 solar panels that are installed at Crayola headquarters in Easton, Pa., we are powering our factory with electricity made from the sun.
Crayons and Markers Made With Solar Power
- A billion crayons and 500 million markers a year are made using solar power. How will you know? Look for specially marked boxes of Crayola crayons and markers.
- During the crayon making process any chipped or broken crayons are remelted in the mixer so there is no waste.
Markers Made With Recycled Plastic
- Crayola marker plugs are made with recycled plastic.
- Plastic scraps from making marker casings are crushed into tiny pellets and put back into the system. There is very little waste. Colored Pencils Made With Reforested Wood

- The wood used in Crayola colored pencils comes from reforested
- For every tree used, another of the same kind is planted.
- We do not use wood from tropical rainforests or endangered species.
