UnitedHealthcare and its Benefits UnitedHealthcare is an insurance company with wonderful benefits that is used by many Americans. When stating many, approximately 70 million Americans reap the benefits that UnitedHealthcare has to offer (“About Us”). Along with offering to so many Americans, UnitedHealthcare makes finding a physician, dentist and even pharmacy a simple task. In the United States there are 751,609 physicians, 80,000 dentists, and 5,629 hospitals that are in the network and accept UnitedHealthcare benefits (“About Us”). Not only is the range of physicians, dentists and hospitals quite wide but the pharmaceutical group at UnitedHealthcare provides programs that provide more affordable access to prescription drugs (“About Us”). Not only is UnitedHealthcare known for their wide range and magnitude of company size, they are also well awarded and highly recognized. UnitedHealth group was ranked No. 1 company in the insurance and managed care sector on Fortune’s 2013, “World’s Most Admired Companies.”("Awards and Recognitions"). Along with this award, UnitedHealthcare has received many more awards in the last few years that have given them the recognition that they deserve. Not only is the company as a whole receiving recognition, but individual employees are also receiving recognition. President and CEO of UnitedHealth Group, Steve Hemsley was ranked No. 7 on the modern healthcare’s ranking of 100 most influential people in healthcare ("Awards and Recognitions"). Also being recognized is UnitedHealthcare CEO, Gail Boudreaux. Gail was ranked No. 28 on a list of 50 for the most powerful women in business ("Awards and Recognitions"). So not only is UnitedHealthcare as a company prospering, but it’s the people behind the business that are causing this insurance company to flourish.
One reason that UnitedHealthcare is such a great insurance company is because of the many benefits that they offer to their customers. There is a different policy and type for each and every need. The first type of medical plan is a copay plan. For a copay plan you have a set fee in which you pay for office visits that is due at the time of the appointment. In a copay plan, no copay is needed for preventive care visits such as a mammogram. The rest of your appointment is covered 100% after the copay and usually with these plans a prescription drug card is given to the policy holders ("Copay "). The second type of plan is the traditions high deductible plan. For this plan the policy holder is responsible for all minor and routine healthcare appointments until their deductible is met. The deductible on these plans are much higher than other plans but the premium is much lower. Once a policy holder meets their deductible then health care costs are covered ("Traditional"). The third type of plan that UnitedHealthcare offers is a short term medical plan. Everyone goes through life changes and some of those changes we are not able to control. To make things easier, UnitedHealthcare offers the short term plan that can come in very handy to make sure you aren’t without insurance. Reasons for needing a short term plan may be unemployment or between jobs, young adult finished with school, early retiree or waiting for another type of coverage to begin. For the short term plans, optional periods of insurance offered can vary from 1 month to 11 months with a range of deductibles for the varying lengths ("Short Term Medical”).
The next type of policy offered by UnitedHealthcare is the student coverage policy. This policy allows for students who are going to school to have a form of insurance. Students who have a policy with UnitedHealthcare are covered for any essential medical service year round while on or off campus ("Student Coverage"). The final policy that UnitedHealthcare offers is a dental plan. There are two types of plans. One is the UnitedHealthcare Dental Premier and the other is the UnitedHealth care dental value. With each of these plans policy holders receive preventive care without a deductible. Also with UnitedHealthcare there is an extensive network with 210,000 dentists. In this policy, recipients receive a $50 calendar year deductible per person and $1,000 in benefits for each covered person ("Dental Insurance Plans").
Once you become a policy holder with UnitedHealthcare one neat trait of this company is being able to access all of your account on myuhc.com. This website allows you to pull up any summary of a claim, how much you owe on your deductibles for the year and so on. There is also an associate on hand that you are able to talk to if you have any questions about your policy or your claim. This is a very neat way for you to be able to easily access your records and see exactly what you are paying out in your medical insurance. Not only can you access your records but there is also a place on this site to keep track of your wellness and ways to become a healthier person.
As for UnitedHealthcare, this insurance company offers many different policies and incentives to buy your insurance through. Not only are the plans good but they are affordable and there is a plan for each and every individual no matter the circumstance. As for me, I feel that UnitedHealthcare is an insurance company that is for its customers and does the best work it can for its policy holders.
