Using several studies provided by Charles Branas and Margaret Knudson, I will show that individual states with and without helmet laws show little difference in the effectiveness of a helmet in a crash. Many riders that I, myself have ridden with would rather have the choice of utilizing a helmet or not. Reasoning behind the abolishment of universal helmet law will be provided from a report filed by the National Transportation Safety Board, showing that helmets do not always protect adult riders in crashes.
