From the Principal
Over the last two weeks auditions have been held for Sounds at Sunset and Escape Festival. This term has seen the largest number of students auditioning to play (and also the highest quality of auditions) that we’ve ever had. It is also fantastic to hear students creating and performing their own original work. We have really enjoyed listening to our students audition, and they are to be congratulated on the quality of their music. The successful auditions have been placed on the Music Noticeboard. Sounds at Sunset is on Thursday 27th November, Pre-Concert Entertainment is from 6:30pm, with the concert formally beginning at 7:00pm. Students may purchase tickets from the Music Office. We look forward to seeing everybody there.

Music News
Making music is one unified act that integrates multiple brain systems. This integrative role provides benefits not inherent in other activities, and highlights music’s evolutionary significance. When a musician’s brains are compared to non-musician’s brains through neuroimaging, there are substantial differences in the size, shape, density, connectivity and functional activity that occur extensively throughout the musician’s brain.

These connections have been shown to translate to academic benefits, including improved literacy, numeracy, spatial abilities, executive functioning and intelligence, as well as greater school attendance and participation. They also extend to psychological benefits for selfconfidence and self-discipline, and social benefits for teamwork and social skills. Follow the IMCC Music Education Story here. A Guide to Musical Success How To Practice Performance Stress Your mouth is dry and you’re shaking. Why? You’re playing solo! It happens to every performer. Stress is often self-induced. How often have you been stressed about a test only to get better than expected results and find out there was no need to stress? How often have you seen a footballer directly in front of goal kick the ball into the post? It should be impossible to miss but it happens all the time. Why? Because they were so busy thinking about not hitting the post that they subconsciously ended up aiming for the post without realising it. It’s called a self-fulfilling prophecy, or overcompensation. Rather than thinking “If my performance is poor, everyone will think I’m not as good as I really am”, tell yourself “I have prepared well. If I make a mistake, I will find out what went wrong, learn from the experience, and play better next time”. The beauty of music is if you make a mistake, as soon as it’s happened it ceases to exist. You’re not Dr Who, you can’t go back in time to fix it, so forget it as soon as it’s happened. Mistakes don’t have to influence what happens next. Positive self-talk helps, as long as it’s rooted in reality. Try these things:  Stay in the present. Avoid worrying about mistakes or difficult passages. Constant thinking will affect your performance. Think less!  Ignore your ‘2nd voice’, the one in your head that says “don’t stuff up this part”. That voice pretends to help but it doesn’t. Remember the footballers. The more you think about it the more likely it is to happen.  Keep invading thoughts on a leash. Stick them back in their box.  Trying too hard can cause poor performances. Effortless concentration means there’s no time to think about ‘how-to’.  Perform with a still mind. When you’re ‘in the zone’ your subconscious will take over and make everything happen. If you’ve practiced the way we’ve suggested in this booklet, you will have trained your subconscious to do just that! Trust the deliberate practice that you’ve done, let your brain do the rest. Enjoy the moment!  Scan this code and get this book out of the library. It’s got some great performance stress techniques, ideas and information! By the way, this optimal state of doing without thinking is called ‘Flow’. When you experience ‘flow’, you’re in the moment, you’re intensely focussed, deep in concentration, and fully immersed in whatever you’re doing, without thinking. It’s awesome. Everybody should experience it. Up-Coming Events 27th November 3rd December 4th December 5th December Sounds at Sunset Awards Night Musicians’ Lunch Escape Festival

Dance News
Year 10 Dance - Status Room Workshop
During Week 5, the Year 10 Dance students participated in a 2 hour workshop with Daisy Sanders and Shuling Wong, who recently performed in the work ‘Status Room’ directed by Jo Pollitt at the Blue Room Theatre. The students watched footage from the show, which predominantly focused on the use of social media and aims to ‘expose the versions of ourselves we choose to present’. The students discussed their use of social media and the emotional experience of being connected all the time, they were asked is it connecting, alienating, lonely or enjoyable? A collection of the student’s responses to this question is below: Why can’t I feel or look like her? When people try to be like others but end up as they were at the beginning, themselves. Everyone’s talking but no one is listening. Sure enough I became unwillingly addicted. Addicted to posting. Addicted to sharing my every moment. Lonely is how I feel right now. I get stressed and anxious when I can’t understand what’s going on. After the workshop some of the students were asked about their experience and said, “It was a really big eye-opener. It made me feel different ways – social media is a way to connect but too much also makes us disconnected.” ~Year 10 student. “I enjoyed the project because it brought me out of my comfort zone and pushed me to try new things” ~ Year 10 student.

WAAPA excursion
The Year 10 students were also lucky enough to see ‘Synchronicity’ at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts on Wednesday, 19th November. The show featured a re-mount of Sydney Dance Company Director, Rafael Bonachela's The Land of Yes and The

Land of No, as well as Kim McCarthy’s and Andries Weidemann’s restaging of Napoli which tells the story of Teresina, a young Italian girl who falls in love with Gennaro a poor fisherman, against the wishes of her mother. The show also included a work by artist, Aimee Smith, in addition to Natalie Weir's iconic work Proofsheet, which was remounted by Justin Rutzou. re-mount and remounted (either both hyphenated or both not)

IMCC Cheerleading
This term, 26 students from Years 7-11 have been participating in Cheerleading Workshops every Wednesday afternoon which have been run by two coaches from Cheer Aesthetics. The students have been working on their Cheer dance and stunting skills.

Cheerleading is a great environment to build confidence and relationships. Students work together to solve problems and build strong relationships with students in other year levels. Older students also find opportunities to act as leaders and support younger students. In only five training sessions I have already seen a strong sense of team spirit develop as well as strong bonds form between the students in different year levels. Students are also growing , in self confidence. .

Year 7 Dance Team
Throughout the past two Terms the Year 7 Dance Team have been working extremely hard every Tuesday afternoon, rehearsing a dance piece performed for the future Year 7 students of 2015 at Orientation Day in Week 5. The students were nervous but excited and gave an outstanding

performance. They should be extremely proud of the professionalism and enthusiasm they demonstrated during the performance. The Year 7 Dance Team will also be performing their dance at this year’s Escape Festival in Week 8. Miss Sinead Harte Dance Coordinator

Cricket Nets
Two Year 8 Physical Education Classes have been lucky enough to be the first group of students to try out the new Cricket nets installed on the edge of the oval. The nets, along with the upcoming new Gymnasium, provide our students with another exciting addition to enhance the Physical Education Program. The nets have been a work in progress over the year, with our very own Building and Construction class helping with the concreting and initial structure of the nets. The turf has been made from recycled bottles and the rubber backing on the walls of the nets are also made from recycled material, making this new piece of equipment very environmentally friendly and ready for use. Thank you to everyone involved in completing this project. Mr Neil Bright Head of PE & Health

State Netball
Year 7 students Kayla and Julia V have been selected for the WAINA (Western Australia Indoor Netball Association) Under 12’s National Indoor Team. The Competition is being held in Perth in the first week of December where they will compete against teams from across the country. Training began in July with the girls training every Friday night and rigorous fitness training every Sunday morning. This is the culmination of hours of hard work and dedication not only in training sessios but also playing and training twice a week with their outdoor netball clubs through the winter.

Not only are the girls representing their State, but they have also been selected as Vice Captains of their team – an achievement to be proud of. We wish the girls every success in the upcoming Competition.

Uniform Shop
It’s that busy time of the year again, when I ask for volunteers to help in the Uniform Shop for this term. I am also looking for helpers for the three afternoons in December (2 nd, 4th and the 9th) to assist with the new students for 2015 and for blazer pickups. No experience is necessary. If you are able to help, please contact the Uniform Shop on 9562 2430 or email Waite.Lyn@imcc.wa.edu.au. For all new parents for 2015, the Uniform Shop will be open during our regular trading hours to enable you to buy or place your order on layby. Items bought for new 2015 students may be exchanged before the start of Term 1 if necessary. All laybys may be picked up before our last trading day on 11th December 2014 or during the January Trading hours. Due to a large volume of blazers which are needed for Years 7-10 for 2015, there will be three deliveries made to the Uniform Shop. Dates and times for pick up will be given in the newsletter. Any blazers collected early may be exchanged before Term 2 2015. $70 blazer deposits are due by 27th November. There has been a query over whether the blazer colour for next year is changing. I can confirm that this is not the case and that blazers will be aubergine and not black (black blazers were used as samples). The new sports uniform is compulsory for Years 7 and 8 students in 2015 (please note that the sports uniform is different for our older existing students). Hats/caps are compulsory for Term 4. The soccer kits for the new Year 7 students for 2015 will be available for purchase from the Uniform Shop at the start of Term 1. Hats/caps are compulsory for Term 4.

...DIPLOMA IN OFFICE ADMINISTRATION BUS 326 – BUSINESS LAW INDIVIDUAL ASSIGNMENT “CONTRACT EMPLOYMENT” PREPARED FOR: MR. FAISYAL PREPARED BY: MUHAMMAD FAMEY BIN ISMAIL DOA 35 2177DOA613 INTRODUCTION An employment contract is an agreement between an employer and employee that sets out terms and conditions of employment. A contract can be in writing or verbal. An agreement entered into between an employer and an employee at the time the employee is hired that outlines the exact nature of their business relationship, specifically what compensation the employee will receive in exchange for specific work performed. An employment contract can help you attract and retain key employees. While you can't force employees to stay, a contract can ensure that they'll provide reasonable notice prior to departure--typically 60 to 90 days. Employment contracts also help protect critical trade secrets, and are especially critical in high-tech companies. An employment contract can prohibit employees from revealing company secrets, working for the competition or soliciting customers. Non-compete agreements can be difficult to hold up in court, so you must be careful in drafting them.. Employment contracts are also useful when you're buying or selling a business to make sure key people don't leave. You can offer employees a retention bonus for staying or let them know they'll be forfeiting a valuable severance package if they leave. Contracts also clarify individual jobs by spelling out employees'...

...1. No society has ever existed, as far as we know, which has not exercised some form of censorship over the conduct and opinions of its members… Good morning teachers and students. Censorship by the government infringes upon the rights of the individual and inhibits freedom of expression. Now, censorship is a broadly used term so what exactly IS censorship? Well, censorship is defined by the Australian Macquarie Dictionary as ‘the actions of a censor – that is, an official who examines books, plays, news reports, films, radio programs (and more recently the internet), for the purpose of suppressing parts deemed objectionable on moral, political, military or other grounds’. Censorship has been around since the beginning of time. It has been used as a tool to control what others have access to. In Australia today, we are supposedly guaranteed the rights of freedom of speech and freedom of the press by our constitution. Yet censorship still exists. We are told censorship is necessary, but at what cost? National security and public interest, are these valid reasons? Why must the government decide what is best for me to read or watch in a cinema or in the privacy of my own home? Sure, we must protect our youth, but that is a parent's responsibility, not the government's. I can understand censorship based upon national security; we can't go around selling all of our secrets without a major threat to our government and our way of life. Censorship is a way of controlling the population...

...Dear Kristina, I hope you’re doing well in your current school courses. I’m emailing you regarding your last essay. I like the structure and organization of your essay, but I have some points that I would like you to know before writing any other essay. I don’t want you to fall into the same mistake throughout your future courses. In my opinion, the definition you wrote of Middle English contains a small percentage of plagiarism that is considered to be illegal. Unfortunately, I believe that the definition was rewritten in a different way, but with the same information. I recognized that you tried to paraphrase the definition, but you ended up just using synonyms, which is still considered to be plagiarism. For instance, “period following the Norman Conquest” was only changed to “time period after the Norman Conquest”, which is only replacing some terms by synonyms. Also using the preposition before instead of preceding, which does not mean that you avoided plagiarism. However, a good way to avoid it is by paraphrasing, but it does not necessarily remove plagiarism because you should be certain that you do not just copy more than two words in a row from the original text. Moreover, there is no in text citation nor reference. Anything, including definitions, should be cited when paraphrased even if it is considered to be general knowledge. It is not necessarily common information among everyone. Hence, every statement paraphrased should be cited or will be reflected as plagiarism...

...After the Raptor leaves, Agathon flees into the wilderness and tries to elude Cylon forces, surviving by using anti-radiation injections and the other contents of his survival kit. Eventually, he is captured by a Number Six copy, but is rescued by Valerii (unknown to Agathon, his rescuer is another copy of Cylon model Number Eight).[8] Valerii's true motive in accompanying Agathon is the participation in a Cylon experiment designed to attempt to create a viable Cylon/human hybrid offspring. The Cylons track Agathon's progress toward a military base in Delphi, placing him in situations designed to result in affection and ultimately love towards Valerii. The experiment results in a successful pregnancy after Valerii has sex with Agathon,[9] though as an unintended side effect, she falls in love with him as well.[10] Agathon soon discovers the truth about her Cylon nature after spotting another Number Eight copy while trying to infiltrate the Delphi military base. Believing that he is being led into a trap, he runs from the base and Valerii.[11] She eventually catches up to him and reveals she is pregnant. Despite shooting her in the shoulder, Agathon realizes he can't bring himself to kill her and instead, at her urging, takes her with him to the Delphi museum. It is there he is reunited with fellow Galactica pilot Kara "Starbuck" Thrace, who is on a special mission from President Laura Roslin to recover the Arrow of Apollo.[12] After nearly being killed by Thrace, Valerii steals...

Reviewing this ample body of knowledge however one cannot help but notice a persistent disunion between the “value chain” view that considers aspects of value creation and appropriation, and the operational “supply chain” view that considers strategies and tools for designing and operating efficient inter-firm networks. Commonly these views do not interact: value creation has the aim of capturing the maximum value-added in financial terms, the supply chain view aims for designing operationally efficient supply chains. In contrast to their treatise within the academic literature, from a practical point of view these two aspects are both necessary (and thus in their own right insufficient)...
