Distinguish between traditional versus team environments.
To me traditional means on my own where team means three or more people working together to get something done. At Walmart the CSM’s are going to start having a team of cashiers that we are responsible for to relay messages from the CSM meetings down to our cashiers so that we are all on the same page. I think if everyone works together instead of by themselves, more will get done.
Describe how teams contribute to an organization’s effectiveness.
Teams contribute to an organizations effectiveness because more than one person can get something done. For instance, when there are two of us working at the service desk, not only can we get the line down because we can both help customers but one could take back claims while the other one balances the drawers. Having teams is effective because so much more can and will get done.
Explain how an effective team is built.
An effective team is built when you pick the ones that do the best to be on your team. You don’t want someone that is (and I hate to put it this way but there are a lot these days) lazy. We have one cashier who anytime we put him on a register he is always trying to find a way to get off of it so that he can clean. This happens when we aren’t busy. It drives me crazy because when I am CSMing he is always like can I get off of here and clean and I tell him no because he is a cashier not a janitor. I get that he wants to “help” keep the store clean but he also needs to do his job too. We have other cashiers that when he is cleaning he is suppose to pay attention and if the others need help he is to help them. He is not one that I would want on my team. He doesn’t like to do his job.
