XII. Conflict/Conflict Resolutions techniques
When conflicts go unaddressed, they can have a negative impact on productivity and teamwork. Using conflict resolution strategies in the workplace will help maintain a healthy work environment. Conflict resolution requires specific leadership skills, problem solving abilities and decision making skills. There are six simple techniques to help reduce conflict in the work place. First employees should listen, and then speak out. The second technique is to gather the group together. Another conflict resolution technique is to be impartial. The fourth and the most important technique are to never postpone conflict resolution. Address the conflict immediately. Otherwise, the situation could escalate and could affect employee performance. Encouragement and motivation are powerful. Remind your staff of successful projects that required teamwork to complete. This is one of the most effective conflict resolution techniques and will really make the employees think about the importance of working in a team. Lastly, to resolve conflict, it is important for the company to take into consideration what both the management and the employees need. By doing this, the morale in the company will increase and the company’s productivity will increase as well.

Conflict: As Hershey is beginning to expand out of Pennsylvania, the higher management and major shareholders of the company could not help but notice that the productivity of their employees was on the decline. Not only were the internal factors causing trouble to the company but sales were starting to fall. The company looked into the problem and found that the places they were expanding were not fitting in with the company’s standards and the workflow the company is used to.
