...Two women who say they were misled by their ex-husbands and should get more money in their divorce settlements have won their Supreme Court fight. Alison Sharland, who accepted £10m in her divorce, and Varsha Gohil, who got £270,000, say the men hid the extent of their wealth when the deals were made. The court indicated that both claims would return to the High Court. After the ruling, Ms Sharland said she was "relieved" and Ms Gohil said there were "no winners in divorce". The ruling could pave the way for many more people to seek to renegotiate their divorce settlements. BBC legal correspondent Clive Coleman said it was an "incredibly significant ruling" that meant a division of the parties' financial assets had to be based on a "valid agreement". "If one of the parties is dishonest, if they are misleading about what their assets are, then this is a very clear signal that the other party can go back to court, can have the agreement set aside and can have the whole thing considered again," he said. Ms Sharland, from Wilmslow in Cheshire, believed the £10m settlement she accepted in her 2010 divorce from her husband Charles, a software entrepreneur, represented half of his wealth. Under the settlement, the 48-year-old would also receive 30% of the proceeds of shares held by her husband in his company when he sold them. ...This essay will be about Scenario 1. I will discuss the problem and solution on how I will analyze, evaluate and make my decision. When it comes to changes jobs due to relocation and pay, you have to make a decision and base it on what’s right for you. Scenario 1 The first issue would be that the degree will almost be completed, but a higher position is being offered in another state. This causes a conflict because the start date is in two weeks and will be during your final exams. Based on this position, you will need to continue your education by getting a degree. The new company doesn’t pay for tuition reimbursement. The problem is school is expensive and with the new company, they will not be paying for tuition reimbursement. School is costly when continuing your education, when going from degree to degree. The higher the degree, the tuition increased and without that reimbursement it can cause a conflict of pursing your studies. You also have different options on whether to accept the pay raise, position, and if you want to have a tuition reimbursement. You can always let them know if you can start at a later time, and discuss with them your final exam. If the company really wants you they will agree to these terms. This would be a new position and it’s something you can branch out in. Start the search early on what the company can offer you, don’t put all your eggs in one basket, be focused and determined about your decision. It can be more or less of an obstacle...

...Case Analysis International Financial Markets Peter MacKay February 21, 2002 Ryan Case Mark Duncanson Christopher McRoberts Jenn Nabb Rob Norr Due to past depreciation in the yen, Disney has decided to consider hedging future yen royalties paid by Tokyo Disneyland. Disney can enter into a currency swap to capitalize on its comparative advantage to borrowing in its local debt market and therefore obtain interest rates more favorable than the French utility could hope to obtain. Each party then swaps the currency they could receive at lower rates and share in the overall benefit. Disney may also wish to hedge long-term foreign exchange exposures since future fluctuations of a currency can erode a project’s NPV to the point of rendering it unprofitable. Furthermore, Disney could have reached the limit of their borrowing capabilities and are looking for a way to borrow more. It is an indirect way of going into capital markets to obtain a desired currency. Both Disney and the French utility have the opportunity of obtaining loans with lower overall costs. They can also convert fixed-rate debt into floating-rate debt (or vise versa) to better match revenue streams. IBJ can benefit from this arrangement through commissions and fees. As currency swap activity increases, the revenue generated from this activity has become significant. The swap bank also benefits when it pays out less than it receives from each counter party to the other counter party. Currency swaps are off-book...

...Review 1. 2. Sedimentary, metamorphic, igneous 3. A rock begins as magma. Then it cools. Crystals form, and then become igneous rocks. They break down into sediment which becomes sedimentary rocks. Then that becomes metamorphic rock. Then finally, it melts into magma, and the rock cycle starts again. 4. Igneous rocks form when molten lava (magma) cools and turn to solid rock. 5. There are different types of chemical weathering, the most important are: Solution - removal of rock in solution by acidic rainwater. In particular, limestone is weathered by rainwater containing dissolved CO2, (this process is sometimes called carbonation). Hydrolysis - the breakdown of rock by acidic water to produce clay and soluble salts. Oxidation - the breakdown of rock by oxygen and water, often giving iron-rich rocks a rusty-colored weathered surface. 6. There all doing something and apart of rocks 7. ...What is plagiarism? | Back | Plagiarism, believe it or not, comes from a Latin verb that means, “to kidnap.” If you plagiarize you’re kidnapping and stealing others’ hard work and intellectual property. It is academic and public dishonesty. You wouldn’t want someone stealing your hard work, intentionally or even unintentionally, would you? Of course not.Still, writers sometimes purposely steal others’ work, and other times writers unintentionally plagiarize because they get confused, have poor notes, are lazy or intellectually unprepared, run out of time, or simply don’t know how to correctly reference sources. There’s a difference between plagiarism, of course, and misuse of sources. (See Defining and Avoiding Plagiarism: The WPA Statement on Best Practices. Reprinted by permission of the Council of Writing Program Administrators.) Because there is so much information accessible through the Internet, the temptation to plagiarize increases and what needs referencing becomes increasingly unclear. The Internet tends to make who owns what a little unclear. Just ask those in the music business. In any case, plagiarism is unacceptable. You don’t want people stealing your work, after all. It is outrageous, actually. We’re here to better ourselves and to better our communities. You can’t do that by stealing. To avoid plagiarism:1. Do not use someone’s words without referencing the source or including the information in quotation marks or a block quote; and2. Do not use someone’s...

...C H A P T E R 4 THE ECONOMY IN THE VERY LONG RUN: The Economics of Growth LEARNING OBJECTIVES After reading and studying this chapter, you should be able to: ̈ Understand that economic growth is due to growth in inputs, such as capital and labour, and to improvements in technology. ̈ Understand that capital accumulates through savings and investment. ̈ Understand that the long run level of output per person depends positively on the savings rate and negatively on the rate of population growth. ̈ Understand that the basic economic growth model predicts that standards of living in different countries will eventually converge. 61 62 PART 2 The Economy in the Long Run and the Very Long Run e have enormously higher incomes than did our great-grandparents. People in industrialized nations are far wealthier than people living in less developed countries. In fact, North Americans and many Europeans had higher incomes a century ago than people in poor countries do today. What accounts for these vast differences? What will determine our standard of living in the future? Growth accounting and growth theory answer these questions. Growth accounting explains what part of growth in total output is due to growth in different factors of production (capital, labour, etc.). Growth theory helps us understand how economic decisions control the accumulation of factors of production, for example, how the rate of saving...
