What is the film about? Explain the title and some highlights of the movie.

The film is about the life of a girl called Andy, and the expirence that she earns working for Miranda Priestly which is a routhless boss of a magazine named Runway.
The title of the movie reflects the concept of the boss, Miranda. She is seen as the Devil becuase she acts cold, authoritarian and routhless.
The movie highlights the infinite power that Miranda has over Emily and Andy and all the imposible tasks that she achives them.

Did Andy choose the right job?

Andy wanted the job only with one objective, get the best references in order to work any place she wanted. So at the end, yes, she was capable to adapt to a job that it was completly different to her dream job and also get the best reference to work were she wanted.

How did the organization socialize her?

The organization socialize her by making the understanding of the culture of the company and the company expectation. All the employees that she meets, treat her as Miranda was going to treat her in order to settle in the job. It is a case of individual socialization.

What are the benefits and costs of belonging to this organization?

The benefits that the company offers are good preparation as coaching, Miranda is pushing Andy to want the work, to be better, to reach almost imposible tasks. Furthermore, the company also benefits with good references.
The costs are explain in the movie as the sacrifice your personal life. Working for Miranda is shown as the most stressful and killer work, becuase you have to live first for her, and secondly for you.

Is being like Miranda a job requirement in that industry?

No, actually Miranda hires Andy because she is different to everybody on the company. What it is required is being like Miranda in that kind of job. Miranda explains at the end of the movie that if Andy wanted to be the most succesful member of the fashion industry just like her, she would have to take selfish decisions like the one she took.

Why did Andy leave Runway?

Because she did not want to take selfish decisions which affects the personal life of your co-workers, that also can be firends.

Was Andy successful?
Yes, she learnt a moral lesson and she took the job she wanted at the beggining. For Andy, is being successful, maybe for Miranda is not being successful becuase she says at the end, that is what any woman wants, being like her. Which are different prespectives of successfulness.

As HR Managers, what can we take from all this?
A HR manager can learn that being successful depends on each employee prespective, and it should manage them in order to allocate them in the best situation, beacuse any worker wants to be successful but in terms of what he wants.

HHRR analysis revealed significant association between ADHD/UADD and the 480-bp DAT1 allele (X2 7.51, 1 df, P = .006). When cases of UADD were dropped from the analysis, similar results were found (X2 7.29, 1 df, P = .007). If these findings are replicated, molecular analysis of the dopamine transporter gene may identify mutations that increase susceptibility to ADHD/UADD.
