Course Objectives

To provide business and non-business students with the basic knowledge of marketing, regardless of their area of specialization. To relate marketing concepts to real life business situations using numerous cases and various Internet activities. To develop students’ ability to understand marketing challenges, issues, and alternatives, and the ability to make recommendations. To inculcate an appreciation for the marketing activities typically performed by marketing professionals.

Course Grade Determination

The course grade will be determined by weighting the components as shown below. Relative grading will be used to assign letter grades after all scores have been compiled.

Test 1, 2, and 3 – 20% each Group Presentation – 15% Multicultural Retailing Field Project – 15% Individual Participation – 10%

Tests 2 and 3 are non-comprehensive. Each student is responsible for bringing a SCANTRON 882 and a No. 2 pencil for the tests.

To enhance learning and understanding of the concepts and practice of marketing, students are encouraged to use the Internet as an on-line resource for information on cases and companies, as well as engage in various Internet activities tied to the numerous companies mentioned throughout the textbook. Finally, students should make every effort to read the assigned chapters and prepare the cases prior

However, not much research that studies factors influencing academic achievement of Business Management students especially in Malaysian context have been undertaken. This research can provide a perspective on how to look into academic and social contexts and the effect of individual differences towards students academic aspect. Astin’s Input-Environment-Output (I-E-O) model is adapted to explain relationships between academic achievement and students input and learning environments. The model allows analysis of of each component’s contribution on academic achievement which is based on students’ cummulative grade point average (CGPA) on a four point scale. Involvement theory which posits that students development is related to the quantity and quality of their involvement in various academic and social activities are explored in the research. Inferential statistics involve in the analyses are t-test, ANOVA and step-by-step multiple regression. Overall academic achievement of the students is Second Class Lower. Out of Class grievances are some of the most difficult grievances to win in Arbitration. Out of class grievances that are not resolved at the department level are resolved by DPA in some instances, provided there is substantial evidence that an employee is working out of class. Grievances not resolved at DPA that are approved for Arbitration must have evidence that can be presented to an Arbitrator that proves an employee is performing duties of an existing, higher paid classification more that 50% of the time over 2 consecutive work weeks (MOU Art. 14.2, 14.2.17, 14.2.21) that do not overlap with the worker’s existing SPB class specification. The Out of Class Grievance Process If the out of class work is ongoing, the grievance is always timely. However, once an out of class grievance is filed, the procedural steps outlined in the MOU Article 14, must be followed.
