It’s been a great pleasure communicating with you all and can’t believe it’s time to say goodbye and move forward. When I started this class it reminds me of taking statistic as a requirement in obtaining my BSN and was upset because I thought there was no correlation between the two, by the end of the course I found it was a necessity. I have similar experience with Nursing NR 500 Foundational Concepts and Application. I was upset and thought this is another money making scheme but at the end of this class my perception has completely changed and came to the conclusion that NR500 should be included in Master’s curriculum.
Master’s nursing education, as is all nursing education, is evolving to meet these needs and to prepare nurses to assume increasing accountabilities, responsibilities and leadership positions. According to AACN (2011), The Essentials of Master’s Education in Nursing reflect the profession’s continuing call for imagination, transformative thinking, and evolutionary change in graduate education. The extraordinary explosion of knowledge, expanding technologies, Increasing diversity, and global health challenges produce a dynamic environment for nursing and amplify nursing’s critical action within complex, changing systems, including health, educational and organizational systems. These Essentials are core for all master’s program in nursing and proving the curricular elements and framework, regardless of focus, major, or intended practice setting.
Using these Essentials will prepare me in my nursing career as a family nurse practitioner to be equipped with valuable knowledge and skills to promote health, lead change and elevate care in various roles and settings.
