The John A. O’Brien chapter, as well as any chapter of the National Honor Society, is full of students whom are exemplary in their ways to help and serve the community. Becoming part of the chapter would be a high honor for me because it would prove that my perseverance and inclination to help others would be paying off. I believe that I would be a good asset to this National Honor Society Chapter because I am dependable, diligent, and posses the major traits that a NHS member is expected to have; these include, scholarship, leadership, service abilities, and outstanding character. My achievements in school have been a big part of my life. I strive to be the best at everything I would like to accomplish. For example, in all of my high school career my cumulative GPA has never dropped below a 3.875. In addition to my GPA, I have been involved in many courses that are above the normal standard for students in my grade level. Some of these courses …show more content…
I believe that these activities shaped me to who I am today. Throughout high school, I have been involved in many different organizations; some of which include, Sting Cancer, FFA, Class Officers, basketball, volleyball, softball, musical production, and much more. I also obtained leadership qualities by attending seminars held by the FFA at many different places in the state. Our FFA advisor hand picked a few students whom she thought would benefit from attending the conference. Attending these leadership conferences brought insight into how I can become a better leader, a better communicator, and a better

...I can to help guide them through it step by step. My grades are my top priority at school because when it comes down to it that is what I will be judged on, not to mention my character. Character is everything. As stated in the dictionary, it is said that character is a “complex of mental and ethical traits“, that those traits, or qualities, are “distinctive to an individual” and that they are “built into an individual’s life.” It is those character qualities, those character traits that determine a person’s response in any given situation. I set goals and put in the time and effort to accomplish them. I believe that NHS does great things overall, and that I can play a part in furthering the impression that is made here. The National Honor Society is known for recognizing students with outstanding grades and commendable characters and I believe that I have both. In conclusion, I hope to be able to use my power to aid in the uplifting of others and prove myself to be a good example and mentor for those who seek help. As I participate in activities where I am the leader, such as a teacher aid, I make sure that I work with my peers and...

National Honor Society Essay Examples

...I am deeply honored to be among the small group of students who are eligible for the National Honor Society. This is something that I have been looking forward to since my Freshman year. Being in all of the clubs and extracurricular activities, I have heard about this organization since I first walked into Waukesha North. Another stronger reinforcer was seeing my sister walk across the stage and seeing how honored she was, made me even more eager to be apart of this prestigious society. I strongly believe that this organization does great things in society, and that I can play a part in furthering its com. I would love to receive this honor because I have worked incredibly hard to get to this point in school and life in general. The National Honor Society is known for recognizing students with outstanding grades and characters, I believe that I have both. Currently, I have a 4.1 cumulative GPA. I have achieved the grades by taking challenging classes and having a lot of GRIT. GRIT is a trait based on an individual's passion for a particular long-term goal, along with a powerful motivation to achieve their respective objective. ...community, done without compensation and with a positive, courteous, and enthusiastic spirit. Community service is a very important factor when it comes to bettering your society. Through my own experiences and my years in the National Honor Society I have observed and come to support my beliefs of how important Service is. What I have learned about my community is, to give back to those who give or simply just to do something nice for someone else without being told/paid to do. Community service to me is what I would do to help my peers and community enjoy themselves at the cost of making them as well as my self, feel good that someone went out of their way to make their experience(s) fun and enjoyable. I am pleased to say everyone in this room carries the willingness to make a better community. I have gotten to know a better me in how I act towards different people and what I say to them. To me I think this shows an incredible charisma in how a person can change and make a difference so quickly The value and importance of community service in our society shows greatness within the National Honor Society. Without community service in our society many people would not know the meaning, usefulness, or importance of charity. Serving in your community takes away from the problems that exist in your society and in the world as a...
