The Salem Witch Trials was one of the most phenomenal events that had ever occur in history, that lead to which is now still a mystery on how it happened. During the 1600s, immigrants from England came over to a part of North America, which is known as New England. They were called the Puritans. Puritans were Protestant Christians that were upset with churches in England. Their arrival to Colonial Massachusetts was the purpose of starting a new life. The life of the Puritans revolved around religion and farming. Farming was difficult in Colonial Massachusetts because of the harsh winter and the rocky soil. Although life went on as usual, until the period of 1692. This was when things started to get suspicious around. They call this the Salem Witch Trial, that …show more content…
By all means, religions were the main part of everyday life for the Puritans. The Puritans were called fundamentalist because they believed in every word that was said in the Bible, and they would follow to its letter. Cotton Mather who was one of the leading ministers that work for churches in Boston Massachusetts, gave a statement that told all people that there were witches and devil in Massachusetts. His word was taking very seriously because he was related somehow to god because he works for the churches in Massachusetts. This relates back to why the Puritans would believe in what Cotton Mather said about devils and witches because the Puritans believed that Cotton Mather got this letter from God. Which the majority of the Puritans would take the letter of god into action. This explains one of the reasons on why the Salem Witch Trial occur in 1692. If Cotton Mather didn't give the statement about witches and devils, then there wouldn't be a startup to the Salem Witch Trial. All thing considered, the Puritans would believe in whatever God told
