How Does Marley Present Bob Cratchit's Character

Marley’s miserable faith has helped to enlighten Scrooge and reform him. It is Jacob Marley who prepares Scrooge for the arrival of three ghosts.
Bob Cratchit was Scrooge’s clerk. He and his family survive on a merge salary and Scrooge gave him no holiday. In spite of this Bob has no grudges against Scrooge. Bob has a wife and five children, and the youngest child Tim was crippled. Tim could not receive any medical aid as Bob was underpaid by Scrooge. And could hardly made ends meet. Tim desperately wanted to walk and plays like other children. In spite of facing many hardships Bob never asked Scrooge for a raise. Bob Cratchit character has been contrasted to Scrooge’s character. Bob Cratchit valued his family above money. He was a kind husband and affectionate father. He was positive minded as he assured Tim he would surely recover. Bob Cratchit was a true Christian who believed in humanity, kindness, charity and thanked God for his blessing.
Fred was Scrooge’s nephew, Scrooge’s sister Fan died when she was very young and had left Fred with Scrooge. Fred was married and had a wife. He believed in the spirit of Christmas and invited Scrooge to dinner. He believed in benevolence, forbearance and kindness. When Scrooge told him that he had no right to celebrate Christmas as he was poor, Fred responded by pointing out that Scrooge had no right to be dismal as he was rich. Although Scrooge treated Fred rudely and impudently, he did not bear any grudges against him. Fred was a greedy person. He did not have any motive for inviting Scrooge to Dinner. In the end Scrooge finally changed and took Fred into his own business and treated him like his own

He despises the poor and hates any part of life that is in relation to happiness or spending money. Scrooge’s appearance has been made very “cold and bitter”. For example, “his thin lips blue”. Scrooge’s personality attitude towards the poor is horrible, for example, when the charity guys come into the room and asked Scrooge if he wishes to make a donation he replies no, this makes the readers dislike Scrooge and disagree with the points that he has to make like, “it is a good thing that the Union work houses are still in operation”.
