Willa Cather wrote “Paul’s Case” which is about a boy named Paul that struggles with his life, school, and his depression that comes and goes. Throughout the story, Paul faces many problems in school, with his family, and job. However, Paul finds happiness in things as well. Paul went on a thrilling adventure with stolen money, but his secret that he stole money comes to light. Thus, Paul ends his life by jumping in front of a train, and his last thought is that he will not see the places the world has to offer. I think Willa used ordinary people in this story because it brings real problems people face in the world to light, and the character’s problems are relatable. For example, “When the right moment came, he jumped. As he fell, the folly
