Succeed How to Succeed as a Student Entrepreneur
Staring a business while enrolled in school may sound like a daunting task but it can be manageable and lead to success if you follow three essential steps. By staying organized, setting goals and being persistent, and having effective study habits you can be a lucrative student entrepreneur.
Importance of a Schedule
The first key to staying organized as a student entrepreneur is making a schedule. A daily and weekly plan helps with staying organized, eliminating idle time and allows for planning ahead. The creation and use of a schedule reduces the stress about what task an individual must do next. By having time designated for certain activities, a schedule helps prevent forgetting tasks as well as rushing through other tasks. A schedule helps allot time for school work and business activities and leaves an individual in charge of what they want to do and when they want to do it. As a student, one should be reasonable about business growth by prioritizing and designating only a few hours a week for business activities. It is practical to begin by establishing a small scaled business while in school, with the intention of expanding later when more time is available.
Ways to Create a Schedule
There are a number of different ways a schedule can be created and many tools that make it a simple task. Many online websites can generate a schedule once input is entered such as Google Calendars which can instantly create a schedule that manages your time. If you are an owner of a Smartphone, applications, such as Tungle Me and Smart Time, can also be useful. However, the most effective schedules are made personally by an individual since they have consideration of activities that take place in their own lives. Research on working effectively shows that most people work best by working intensely for a reasonable period of time followed by rest or switching to another task. Attempting to work for long hours at a time can result in headaches, frustration and poorly done work. An individual works more efficiently, accurately and happily after a five to ten minute break which can consist of laying down, eating a snack or just standing up and stretching. When making a schedule, you should experiment at the beginning to find what work-break routines work best for you. Also be sure to separate school work from business venture related work. Treat your personal schedule as you would a work schedule, turn off your cell phone and concentrate on what you have listed and planned.
Setting Goals and Being Persistent
Lack of motivation is responsible for more failures than inadequate background or lack of ability, therefore setting goals and remaining persistent is also key for succeeding as a student entrepreneur. Defining your goals and being confident in your abilities will help you stay focused and motivated when struggling as a student entrepreneur. Envision the future and visualize success, know what it is you what you want as a result of all your hard work put into both school work and starting a business. Once you start to see results, you will be further motivated as you will begin to see that your hard work is paying off.
Effective ways to Study
Studying is important in the life of a student entrepreneur. It is important to note that studying should be done effectively in order to result in good grades. As students, most people discover their own effective ways to study, however it is helpful to see what techniques others are using. Making an outline, eliminating distractions and having a good night sleep are proven to be very effective ways to help achieve good grades.
Make an outline - Many students have trouble determining where to start studying and this can lead to wasted time and not wanting to studying. Being organized is an essential skill as a student entrepreneur, and having an outline on what to study and where to begin is an extremely beneficial technique that should be used.
Eliminating distractions – Being able to focus is important while studying. if you are reading your notes or textbook but your mind is wandering, that is not effective studying. Eliminating distractions includes being in a quiet place with no clutter and avoiding anything or anyone that may distract you. This may include your computer, cellphone or even friends and family. If you want to enhance your concentration and focus while studying, breathing exercises and stretches can be helpful.
Always have a good night sleep – Never deprive yourself of a goodnight sleep when you are studying. lack of sleep can impact your decisions the next day and make it difficult for you to concentrate, think clearly and can leave you feeling tired, drowsy and worn out throughout the whole day. Be sure to get a good night sleep so you are feeling fresh and on your toes the following day.
While dealing with a school work load and trying to get your foot through the door as an entrepreneur, there are a few things that need to be kept in mind that will make your life easier. Stay organized by making a schedule that separates your school and business venture time to ensure that everything gets finished to a high standard. Always establish and keep your goals in mind so you stay motivated in both your work and your studies. When trying to maintain good grades while starting a business, be sure to have effective study habits which include getting a good nights sleep, staying focused by eliminating distractions and making an outline based on what you need to accomplish.

...elaborate on the emerging trends and conceive a product considering all these four trends? Being an entrepreneur is often associated with successful individuals who have accumulated loads of money. However, an entrepreneur must deal with never-ending stress and frustration. Many people forget that most new businesses fail, but when a business succeeds, entrepreneurship can be highly rewarding, both emotionally and monetarily. As one entrepreneur's innovations pave the way for others. The economy has always been fueled by the innovations and new products entrepreneurs bring to the market. Big businesses started out small, usually as one man or woman with a good idea and the willingness to work hard and risk everything. While it is true that about half of all new businesses fail, the ones that succeed contribute a great deal to the creation of other new ventures which leads, in turn, to a dynamic national economy. For that you need to observe trends that give you opportunity. The four observing trends are economic forces, social forces, technological advances and political action & regulatory changes. Entrepreneur should launch innovative products that should meet the consumers demand and could easily pass through from all these trends. By keeping in mind all these things the product I am launching is touch screen tablet pc that can be use for multi-tasking (office use, entertainment, student use etc.). As the world technologies advances and dealing so much into surface interface devices...

Entrepreneurship

...Chapter-2 Discussion points and “Entrepreneur in Action” Discussion point: How many of you (in the classroom) intend to be entrepreneurs at some point in their life. How confident you are that they will succeed – use a scale of 1 to 10. Why? For those with lower scores, ask what they might do to be able to increase their confidence. Entrepreneur in Action: Beth Cross took on the established cowboy boot market and in just more than 10 years has sales of $80 million and owes nearly 17% of the western wear market. How did she do it? Here’s her four rules for success: 1. Find the market’s blind spot. The boot market hadn’t really changed in years and wasn’t taking advantage of the latest technologies. 2. Make friends in high places. Cross was able to get a high level Reebok executive on her board. 3. Pay less, charge more. Cross was able to outsource most of her labor and was able to charge more for her patented technologies. 4. Create your own demand. As a start up she had no marketing budget and took the boots to horse shows and rodeos in her car. (Copeland, Michael V. “These Boots Really Were Made for Walking” Business 2.0, October 2004 pg. 72 http://money.cnn.com/magazines/business2/business2_archive/2004/10/01/8186646/index.htm Discussion point: Poll the class to see how many have parents or other relatives that are role models. PROBLEM STATEMENT The study seeks to investigate factors that influence technological entrepreneurship and technological innovation of first year students using Walter Sisulu University as a case study. Shein, Crous and Schepers (2010: 1) in their recent research paper found that not only in growing economies such as South Africa, but in other economies, entrepreneurship takes a proactive role in businesses and contributes to job creation. The Psychology of an Entrepreneur's Decisions

...Psychological Traits of an Entrepreneur What is an entrepreneur? One who starts a business from nothing? Someone who happens to create the next best thing? Well, both of these things would be considered an entrepreneur. However, there is no set in stone definition of what an entrepreneur actually is. Despite that, these types of people do differ from your everyday person. They possess specific characteristics that help influence how decisions are made, which is an enormous task in the process of starting up a business and eventually keeping it functional (Brouthers et al., 1998). So, what exactly are these traits that make entrepreneurs so much different than others? I, amongst many others, believe that there are definite attributes that entrepreneurs have that drive them to do what they do so well (or not so well). And as a typical American, I shall compare my most central psychological traits and compare it to those of an entrepreneur Entrepreneurs are motivated. They have some sort of drive that causes them to put so much time and effort in one of the hardest tasks to do today, starting a business. Entrepreneurs tend to have a need for achievement. This need for achievement, not only helps motivate and bring positive thoughts, but it can also have its negative factors. These could be frustration, which leads to mistakes, which could ultimately lead to unemployment (Shapero and Sokol 1982). Like entrepreneurs, I too have a need for achievement. For example, I always wanted...

...terrible at time management and would like to get things done in a scheduled fashion, but I can admit I lack this trait in my personality. In my paper I would like present how communication and time management can help improve a worker under pressure. My message would say, “Have a plan, use a planner, and execute these plans with good communication!” My message clearly describes I need an organizer and an alarm clock to make sure that I am on time with my projects. I clearly did not do my discussion post on week one so I have to do this from beginning and explain my plans on my project. Step 2-3 The intended audience I chose for this message is college students who have a busy schedule and have 1-2 jobs or full time jobs. The typography I would like to showcase would be Display Type. The reason why I would like to go this route is because it shows a plain simple message for time managing. It can benefit readers in understanding the importance of time how valuable time management is an asset to our busy schedule. I wanted to use Microsoft Power Point to show my visual of how effective time managing can help improve our lives. Rich Dad, Poor Dad

...Rich Dad Poor Dad is a very interesting book. It is told as story of two Dads which in my perspective, exactly points out the difference between serviced oriented vision of most of the Indian students and business oriented vision in American youth. Poor Dad is like a typical father in middle class Indian family who expects the child to study hard, get degrees, find lucrative job, get promotions, stick to job and save money to build a secure old life. It represents middle class Indian mentality. Due to stiff competition, few succeed in getting high salaried job. But their dreams of becoming rich, seldom come true as there are so many takers whenever the savings accumulate, like govt, income tax etc. and he remains a middle class or at the most upper middle class citizen. Rich Dad represents family head in America who expects his child to become young entrepreneur. He deliberately exposes his child to real world, prompts the child to study how the money moves, how to get money, take risk, grab opportunity, increase assets than liability. He creates urge and desire in child to become business owner, do job initially to earn money not to be used as secure saving for future but as capital seed for his business. True business man knows that desire increases liability and so he spends money not in luxury consumable items or property which invites tax cuts but for investing in projects he knows which will reap benefits. He doesn’t learned himself to become expert and smart. He is...
