Re: New Standard Operating Procedures
New Standards
Starting on Monday, June 2, 2014 I would like to begin a new method of training. We the committee members have come up with a new standard of operating procedures for training new hires. The old method unfortunately did not produce the results this company was hoping to achieve. Looking back 5 years from now you can obviously see the down fall trend in money and employees.

Our method of training will first and foremost begin with the trainers. We will select a group of people we believe are strong leaders and highly knowledgeable of the Ross Inc. ways of doing things. We will train them on communication with new hires, what to train the new hires on and how to handle some of the complexities of training people. After they are trained we will then move onto the new hires. For the first few weeks the trainers will be closely supervised in their training. Then they will be all on their own training all new employees.

This training will begin Monday, June 2, 2014. The training will last approximately 4-6 weeks. Once the training is done a final assessment will be conducted with all the new trainers. They must pass a live simulation and scenarios of training before they are signed off as Ross trainers. Once that is complete we will than select new hires to be trained in groups of 5 per 1 trainer.

I would like to thank you all for your time and consideration. We the committee are highly confident in this new methodology of training. Please feel free to look over the packets you were each given via your email. For any further questions or additional information please feel free to contact the committee at your convenience.

Lawyering Skills

...LAWYERING SKILLS Professor Rogelio Lasso Summer 2012 Handout 5 THE BASIC OFFICE MEMORANDUM I. INTRODUCTION We have discussed how to analyze and apply legal authority. We have also discussed how to write a case brief, which law students usually write for their own use. Most legal writing, however, is done to communicate with others. As a law student (and new lawyer), you will receive legal problems and will be asked to analyze the problem and write up the results of that analysis. The typical vehicle that lawyers use to do this is the legal memorandum. When you write a memorandum, you will make use of the several analytical skills you have been developing. This handout explains the form and content of a legal memorandum. II. PURPOSE OF A MEMORANDUM A legal memorandum is a document written to convey information within a law firm or other organization. It is a written analysis of a legal problem. The memorandum is usually prepared by a junior attorney or by a law clerk for a more senior attorney early in the firm's handling of a legal dispute. The writer analyzes the legal rules that govern the issues raised by that problem and applies those rules to the facts of the case. These memoranda prepare attorneys to advise clients how to proceed, if at all, with prospective business dealings or litigation. The memo must be complete and objective including both the rules and facts that help the client and those that do not. In concludes with a considered opinion of...

Acct 540 Week 5 Assignment

...Hayley Wicks ACCT 540 Week 5 Assignment The Sample Brief Memorandum in the back of our text is an excellent example of combing everything we have learned so far in this course with regards to content, but it lacks proper APA format when using in-text citations, and it does not include a works cited. It is evident in this memorandum that the research process was performed efficiently and effectively, and fully progressed through the steps of determining the relevant facts, identifying the research problem, conducting research questions, identifying the key terms on which to gather data, and finally organizing the research to propose a conclusion. In addition, the author of the memo makes references to authoritative sources and uses the plain English described by the SEC when explaining his or her findings from the research process. The author of the sample memorandum states the relevant facts related to the research topic at the very beginning of the memorandum. I find the most significant fact to be the fact that Sony’s financial statements did not disclose the losses from Sony Pictures. The facts stated help the reader to identify the problems related to this topic. Namely, the problems that need to be addressed include misrepresentations of goodwill, and financial statement disclosures for different segments. Once the problems are understood, the researcher can proceed to ask the research questions that will lead him or her to a solution. Based on the issue regarding...

...Business Letters A business letter is more formal than a personal letter. It should have a margin of at least one inch on all four edges. It is always written on 8½"x11" (or metric equivalent) unlined stationery. There are sixparts to a business letter. 1. The Heading. This contains the return address (usually two or three lines) with the date on the last line. Sometimes it may be necessary to include a line after the address and before the date for a phone number, fax number, E-mail address, or something similar. Often a line is skipped between the address and date. That should always be done if the heading is next to the left margin. (See Business Letter Styles.) It is not necessary to type the return address if you are using stationery with the return address already imprinted. Always include the date. 2. The Inside Address. This is the address you are sending your letter to. Make it as complete as possible. Include titles and names if you know them. This is always on the left margin. If an 8½" x 11" paper is folded in thirds to fit in a standard 9" business envelope, the inside address can appear through the window in the envelope. An inside address also helps the recipient route the letter properly and can help should the envelope be damaged and the address become unreadable. Skip a line after the heading before the inside address. Skip another line after the inside address before the greeting. 3. The Greeting. Also called the salutation. The greeting in a business...

Thinking Makes Visible

...I. Introduction Regardless of the legal specialty, location, or practice size, there is one truism that rings throughout the legal community: lawyers write. What students learn in the Legal Writing and Analysis, Appellate Advocacy, and other courses that fulfill the upper-level writing requirement is essential to becoming an effective advocate. As in many law schools' writing courses, students learn the basics for formulating, writing, and defending a legal argument — research, jurisdiction, use of authority, standards of review, and effective methods for completing written legal analysis. II. Distinguishing Features. Legal writing places heavy reliance on authority. In most legal writing, the writer must back up assertions and statements with citations to authority. This is accomplished by a unique and complicated citation system, unlike that used in any other genre of writing. Legal writing values precedent, as distinct from authority. Precedent means the way things have been done before. For example, a lawyer who must prepare a contract and who has prepared a similar contract before will often re-use, with limited changes, the old contract for the new occasion. Or a lawyer who has filed a successful motion to dismiss a lawsuit may use the same or a very similar form of motion again in another case, and so on. Many lawyers use and re-use written documents in this way and call these re-usable documents templates or, less commonly, forms. Legal writing extensively...
