How values and ethics influence career success?

Values reflect a person’s sense of right and wrong or what “ought to be done. Values tend to influence attitude and behavior. Ethics represent morality, integrity, and character, “What will she do to get what she wants?” “Treat people with respect and kindness.” Good values and professional ethics are needed to be a success in a business. People begin to understand, respect, and trust your word when you have solid values and ethics. When employers know that you can be trusted, you become the person to look to, the person that is the leader of the team, and also recognized by higher management in that company. Professional Ethics brings a diligent work pattern and good values bring positivity to the success of the company and a career.
According to (Mystic Madness: A Blog to Change the Way You Think, 2009) “Professional values and ethics are the principles which help us determine our actions and conduct in any given profession.” Values and ethics becomes a part of our professional lives the moment we become career oriented and also the moment we step into our career. For example, when becoming a doctor, the first thing read is the Medical Code of Conduct (the doctor’s “values and ethics”) there are hospital morals and the self-morals that a doctor must uphold. HIPAA would be an example of the doctor’s code of conduct. It is the privacy of the patient’s medical history between the doctor and the patient. The patient begins to trust the doctor and the doctor’s staff when it comes to treatment and confidentiality. Entrepreneurial Ethics is another type of professional ethics that demands good values and ethics. I worked for a company that was still a babe in the making, but up and running.
