Week 10 Assignment 2: Ms Project and Team Leadership

...Week 10 Assignment 2: MS Project and Team Leadership Jamal Herrera June 16, 2013 Human Resources Projects- HRM 517 Instructor: Dr. Stephen Castellese 1. Write a memo that communicates the budget situation to the rest of the team. Memo To: Team Members on the Compensation / Benefits Project From: Director of Human Resources Date: 6/16/2013 Re: Budgetary concerns related to the revamp Compensation/Benefits package. While assessing the budget details of the Compensation and Benefits package project some concerns have been raised, that the budget is depleting quicker than expected. This issue is related to specific target dates that have not been met. In order to find a quick resolution to this problem, I am calling for a meeting to be held immediately in Conference Room H. This meeting will address the budget issues and how we can improve the situation. I would like to for each team member representative to analyze their place within the project and to verify if you are on schedule. This is a sound way to keep the project from over budgeting itself. It is very important that each member utilize their time wisely and focus on meeting the company goals and standards. Addressing this situation will possibly prevent the budget from going too far off course by eliminating or adjusting the amount of some items. We share the responsibility...

Memorandum To: Team members of project1 From: Team leader of project1 Date: 12/10/11 Subject: Budget Depletion It has come to my attention that the budget plan for project1 has been depleted quicker than expected. As the team leader of project1, it is my responsibility to make sure that every aspect of project1 stays on tract. I also did some investigation as to which group is over using their budget. Even so my report is not conclusive and I will need to have each team’s report and update to be sure of my findings. Therefore, I am proposing that we all meet together to come up with a plan to rectify this budget depletion situation. I am counting on all of you to help me pull this through, for I cannot fix this alone. I need your full support and corporation to have this situation repair in a speedily fashion. In addition, before we have our meeting, I suggest that each team print out a progress report of your section and see if your budget is on tract. Also, if there is any way to make some budget cut in your section. In that way, when we actually meet your team can share how and where we can repair the budget back on tract. Conflict Management

...ASB 3101 Human Resource Management Individual Assignment: Reflective Essay (60%) Introduction 1.1 This is a reflective essay where I will look at a previous experience of conflict at work and relate this to human resource management. My focus points will be: the management team’s attitude to the conflict and how I managed the conflict. I will begin with focusing on how the conflict developed. I will outline the positive and negative aspects in the way it was handled in order to learn from the experience and what should have been done differently. I will use relevant theories to analyse the situation but I will also discuss my identity, the management’s response and how I dealt with the conflict. I will use my findings during this essay to help me prepare for future employment and dealing with in work conflicts. Theoretically conflict within the workplace is ‘the process in which one party perceives that its interests are being opposed or negatively affected by another party’ (Wall & Callister, 1995, p. 517). HR professionals are trained to deal with conflicts within the work place, using grievance and disciplinary procedures. It is the employer’s duty to either act on behalf of the human resource department or have a trained professional to represent the HR department. Studies show that most large and medium sized firms have set procedures to deal with conflicts, however ‘such procedures tend to be absent only in small firms’ (Kersley et al; 2006 Suff 2010a, b)...

Extending the Human Resource Architecture: Relational Archetypes and Value Creation Abstract Theories of knowledge-based competition focus on internal resources as the source of value creation. The HR architecture (Lepak & Snell, 1999) brought human resource management directly into this forum by developing a model of human capital allocation and management. We attempt to extend the HR architecture by introducing a framework of relational archetypes—entrepreneurial and cooperative—that are derived from unique combinations of three dimensions (cognitive, structural, and affective) that characterize internal and external relationships of core knowledge employees. Entrepreneurial...

...ork2012 - 2013 Catalog A Message from the President “Sullivan University is truly a unique and student success focused institution.” I have shared that statement with numerous groups and it simply summarizes my basic philosophy of what Sullivan is all about. When I say that Sullivan is “student success focused,” I feel as President that I owe a definition of this statement to all who are considering Sullivan University. First, Sullivan is unique among institutions of higher education with its innovative, career-first curriculum. You can earn a career diploma or certificate in a year or less and then accept employment while still being able to complete your associate, bachelor’s, master’s or doctoral degree by attending during the day, evenings, weekends, or online. Business and industry do not expand or hire new employees only in May or June each year. Yet most institutions of higher education operate on a nine-month school year with almost everyone graduating in May. We remained focused on your success and education, and continue to offer our students the opportunity to begin classes or to graduate four times a year with our flexible, year-round full-time schedule of classes. If you really want to attend a school where your needs (your real needs) come first, consider Sullivan University. I believe we can help you exceed your expectations. Since words cannot fully describe the atmosphere at Sullivan University, please accept my personal invitation to visit and experience...

...Cooperative Strategy ‘The authors have provided an ambitious overview of the cooperative strategy literature. The book will be welcomed by serious students and scholars focussed on this important phenomenon.’ Paul W. Beamish, Canada Research Chair in International Business, Ivey Business School, University of Western Ontario ‘This book provides a comprehensive, well-organized and richly illustrated analysis of inter-firm cooperation. While relevant for managers and business students, it extensively draws on the most up-to-date research, making it also a valuable source for academics studying strategic alliances and the wide array of management issues they raise. Child, Faulkner, and Tallman have done a remarkable job of putting together in a highly consistent way all the knowledge available on what has become an essential facet of business development, namely Cooperative Strategy.’ Pierre Dussauge, Professor of Strategic Management, HEC – School of Management, Paris ‘I highly recommend this book for alliance scholars and practitioners. The breadth of coverage of the practical and theoretical literature on cooperative strategy is one of the book’s primary contributions.
