Running Header: Assignment 1: To Organize or Not to Organize?

The Mercedes-Benz U.S. International (MBUSI) is located in Vance, Alabama employs over 4,000 people. This organization has created thousands of others jobs by association in the area and has contributed billions of dollars of other commerce do to its presence in Alabama. This company’s story began in Alabama in 1997. It began producing only one model and after such a great response to the vehicle it increased its production with other models in 2004. Since the inception of the organization into the state there has been only one layoff. Employees make some of the highest wages in Alabama at this organization. There are generous bonus packages and vacations. MBUSI also has several onsite amenities for workers including an up to date lunchroom and day care facility.

1. Create a scenario of the specific working conditions that has prompted the attention of employees.
Since the layoff in 2004, more and more employees are complaining about changes being made to company policies. Policies are being changed without notice. Employees have to carry around the employee handbook to ensure their safety. With the economy slowly turning and car sales down, employees are becoming discouraged about the security of their jobs. The plant is located in Vance, Alabama is a division of the German company. It is the first of its kind in the Americas and there have been rumors that German employees have complained about the emphasis being placed on this particular plant. They feel that their jobs have been taken and brought here. The German employees feel that because there are so many jobs currently in Alabama, there are limited jobs for them. Since the plant here is newer and less opportunity for accidents due to older machinery, they feel that they are being ignored. These comments and rumors
