Strength:
1. Customization: HTC has a long experience with the network suppliers. It did a good job to customize their mobile phones according to the requirement and needs of the network suppliers. ( put it in other way, they have no choice. Customization is the only way to win the sale from the network supplier.)

2. Touch Technology: HTC produced the first Touch Technology in the world, even more earlier than the Iphone. So they hold the core technology of Touch Technology, which is now the mainstream technology in the smartphone market. even Apply is a bit jealous and try to restrain this little brother, through the lawsuit. 3. Innovation: HTC is renowned for innovation. The current CEO is famous for engineering and innovation. ( the HTC R&D/Sales rate In 2009 is 6%, compared to 3.4% of Apple, 3.2% of Samsung, 11.7% of Nokia.)

Weakness:
1. Brand: it is the HTC fatal flaw. HTC is really new brand, with which is not familiar by the customers, resulting from the long history of ODM and customization.
2. High cost: The manufacture cost of HTC is relatively higher, compared to its competitors. This weakness led HTC to the slim margin, which can make domino effects on the further development of HTC, such as less research cost, more rely on the subsidy of network suppliers, ) The cost of customization, lack of patent, lack of the operation system, high cost of manufacture, increased the cost together.
3. Size of company: HTC is really a small and new player in the mobile market (revenue of 2008: 4651million) , compared to the other players, such Nokia(50710 million) , Apple(32479 million), Samsung. Starting in June or July of this year, I began to experience a lost of signal on my mobile device, the My Touch Slide 3G. I was on a phone call and the call dropped. When that call dropped, I never received another signal and the phone would display “emergency calls only” followed by “searching” signal. I tried various troubleshooting options and even waited a few days to see if the coverage would recover before I ended up calling T-Mobile customer care. When I called customer care, the representative proceeded to have me perform all the routine troubleshooting options before they decided to send me another My Touch Slide 3G because they could not figure out why the device would not recover a signal. Needless to say, I received the replacement My Touch Slide 3G and the phone worked for a few weeks and then I began to experience the same exact issue. Overall, I was sent a total of 3 different My Touch Slide 3G’s and they all would eventually lose signal permanently. After the 3rd replacement lost signal, I called customer care and they then decided that it is not the phone but that it is the SIM card I was using. I had the same SIM card since joining T-Mobile in 2006. After receiving the new “4G” SIM card, the phone started working. Then a few weeks later, it lost signal again.
