The gesture is an ancient one, demonstrating that the hand is empty of weapons and thus indicating friendship and peace. To western eyes, it looks like the gesture meaning "stop." In both cases, the gesture implies fearlessness before a potential enemy. In Buddhism, the gesture is a symbol of the fearlessness—and thus the spiritual power—of the Buddha or bodhisattva who makes it. I entered “Inside Ancient Egypt Exhibition” and it was there that I noticed a beautiful statue. Right away it captured my attention. It was a statue of Isis sitting with Horus on her lap. It was called Statue of Isis Nursing Horus. I liked the subject matter. It was very feminine, but also showed what a strong woman Isis was. There were other sculptures that I saw while viewing which were much more detailed and painted. But this sculpture was my favorite out of the entire museum. As Plutarch writes of Isis: "she is both wise and a lover of wisdom; as her name appears to denote that, more than any other, knowing and knowledge belong to her"( Plutarch). The name of the sculpture and its magnificence inspired me to choose this sculpture because I as a mother can relate myself to this piece of art. Isis is the mother of Horus and she is nursing him. I was so amazed of the Art on display from different cultures especially since my wife is from Africa she knew what a lot of the are meant it was a great experience for us. Art on the Square is held in the down town location of the city that I reside in for more than 7 of my life. Art Square is a very art learning display from Art painting to Music concerts. This event began back in 2002 and has been a light in the massive sky of great arts locations ever since. Seeing the meaning of this occasion to the little town that I was raised in, I made the choice to attend this event after my grandmother past and continue to go see it yearly, since then I have attended every year after. Even though the art is lovely and breathe taking that is not all this event means to me, for me as a local resident it means something to be proud of as a community. I must say that it is on my to do list for when I do visit New York. From the pictures online I am amazed by the design of the building in the Metropolitan museum of art; the design is an art in itself. It is beautifully designed and decorated and thus is very attractive to the tourist even from the outside. As I continue to scroll through the pictures I was further amazed by the interior design of walls and the floor. The ground floor even though it may seem basic to some this is where you will see all of the beauty and richness the museum has to offer. Then you proceed to the first floor where the art pieces are marvelous and you know that they have been designed by some of the greatest artist in the world. The museum contains not only the America art pieces but the pieces were from different parts of the world and thus making Metropolitan museum of art a world tourist destination.
