When an economy is suffering, people will look for an entity or person to blame yes, but they also eagerly and sometimes blindly accept what they might justify as the lesser of two evils. In this case, Evil is identified and there is nothing lesser about it. In the early 1900’s what they found changed and also ended the lives of millions. World War II and the hardship it brought upon Germany was just the tool that one man in particular took advantage of for his own personal gain and ideology. Born in Australia in 1889, Aldoph Hitler came to be one of the most famed and later despised person’s in human history. Many have written about his life and what he accomplished or yet, what he did. Many have tried to explain the why in hopes that history does not repeat itself. To this day, I do not think it has to that scale however; there will always be ones to try. It is important for that reason, to always understand why he succeeded, not to enable anyone to repeat his actions but instead to ensure the human race does not put such an evil man into power ever again. His rise to power, I believe was put deliberately in motion when in 1923 Hitler attempted to seize power in Bavaria. This failed and as a result Hitler was imprisoned. While in prison Hitler took the time to write what is known as, “Mein Kampf” (My Struggle). The sale of this writing added to the funds that later he would use to manipulate himself higher and higher up the power chain. He spent only 9 months in prison but afterwards, he carefully and deliberately restructured the National Socialist Party (Nazi Party) in such a way that it had become a daunting political force run by what many now label as a Mad Man. “By June 1932, it was the largest political party in the German parliament, the Reichstag” (Historynet.com, n.d.). ...Chapter 1 THE PROBLEM AND ITS BACKGROUND The terms less-than-lethal, less lethal, and non-lethal are frequently and inappropriately used interchangeably. Almost anything can become lethal if used improperly or if circumstances are extremely unlucky; weapons that are considered to be of Non-Lethal force only decrease the odds of deadly injury. The court addresses the use of less lethal force in the “objective reasonableness standard,” where questions regarding excessive use of force are to be judged from the perspective of a reasonable officer coping with a tense, fast-evolving situation. (Graham, Conner, 2009) This revised standard alleviates some of the “Monday morning quarterbacking” that would otherwise result and respects that officers possess sound judgment skills. (Graham, Conner, 2009) In some arrest situations and other law enforcement activities, the use of force may be required to protect the safety of the officer or the public. Occasionally, the threat to an officer or the public justifies the use of deadly force an amount of force that is likely to cause either serious bodily injury or death to another person. (Graham, Conner, 2009) When use of force is required, but deadly force may not be appropriate, law enforcement officers may employ less-lethal weapons to gain control of a subject. ...Pondra Zigler HUMN-303 Professor Elliott October 14, 2012 “Pigments” Pigments are the foundation of all paints, and have been used for thousands of years dating back to prehistoric times. More than 15,000 years ago cavemen began to use colour to decorate cave walls. These colours were called earth pigments - yellow earth, red earth and white chalk. In addition they used carbon black by collecting the soot from burning animal fats. These colours were all that were needed to produce the sensitive and exquisite drawings and stencils which we are still able to see today (Winsor & Newton. 2003). According to Douma, M. (2008), the first paintings ever found were cave paintings. Ancient peoples decorated walls of protected caves with paint made from dirt or charcoal mixed with spit or animal fat. In cave paintings, the pigments were able to stick to the walls because the pigments became trapped in the porous wall and also, because the spit of fat dried and adhered the pigment to the wall. It is hypothesized that the way that the paint was applied was through brushing, smearing (using their fingertips), dabbing and using spraying techniques. Brushes were made from horsehair, and paint spraying (similar to air brushing) was accomplished by blowing paint through hollowed animal bones.
