What is the doctor-patient relationship? The doctor-patient relationship is an important concept in health care. It is a complex topic that means different things to different people. The doctor-patient relationship is a keystone of care. It is the medium in which data are collected, diagnoses and plans are made, compliance is accomplished, and healing, patient activation, and support are provided (Lipkin, 1995). The doctor-patient relationship is a critical factor in people’s decisions to join and stay with a specific organization. This is a big deal for managed care organizations. There are several factors that have impacted the doctor-patient relationship. They are, but not limited to:
 The medical interview.
 Eliciting patients’ own explanations of their illness.
 Giving patients information.
 Involving patients in developing a treatment plan.
 The accessibility of personnel and their courtesy level.
 Reasonable waiting times and attention to personal comfort.
 Whose doctor is it anyway? (Goold, 1999)
It is during the medical interview when patient and practitioner spend most of the medical encounter in discussion. The interview functions to gather information, develop and maintain a therapeutic relationship, and communicate information. If a patient likes and trusts their physician, then they will share openly with their physician. On the other hand, a patient who

does not trust or like the physician will not disclose complete information efficiently. Likewise, a patient who is nervous or anxious, will not comprehend the information clearly.
Effective use of the structural elements of the interview gives the patients a sense that their concerns have been heard. Along with this comes the feelings of caring, positive regard, and understanding. This allows the patients to be involved in developing their own treatment plan.

I joined Managerial communication class to improve my communication skills. Professor taught the different aspects of speaking, writing and presenting things in the most effective manner. After Class, I found myself in a better shape. I have improved my communication skills, and my professor taught us the right way to improve it every day by ourselves. After this class, I am able to speak, write, and present things in a better way. Now I am more confident in getting my point across. Earlier I was afraid before speaking in English. As I used to think if I would speak, I might commit a mistake and this will spoil my reputation. This fear had kept me away from many challenging opportunities. I could not make more and more friends, as I could not speak properly. My life was very dull and depressing. But this class has changed my life by giving me an easy way out to learn and speak. As a part of the curriculum, I had to write few Reflection Papers that improved my writing skills a lot. And in order to write a good reflection paper, I had to read a lot that helped to improve my reading skills as well. And I had to give an individual presentation that was a great learning experience for me. It is not that, I never gave presentation before but this time it was different in experience. I was able to see myself giving presentation, as my professor recorded...

Biology Current Events Assignment

...Biology Current Events Assignment Omar Patel May 6th, 2014 Scientists Discover Cosmic Factory for Making Building Blocks of Life September, 15, 3013 Zita Martins, Mark C. Price, Nir Goldman, Mark A. Sephton & Mark J. Burchell http://phys.org/news/2013-09-scientists-cosmic-factory-blocks-life.html In the article it states that when icy comets collide into a planet, amino acids are created. These are the building blocks of life and from the amino acids. This means that amino acids can be created anywhere in the world with these conditions. The article also states that a couple of moons of Saturn have the perfect environment for creating amino acids if a comet hits them. The researchers stated that the comets crash into the ground, which create shockwaves that create amino acids. The scientists figured this out by using a special gun that replicates the crash of a comet. This article is related to science/biology because it helps us understand how life first formed on Earth. I think this discovery will benefit everyone around the world equally because a common question usually asked is how the world was created in a scientific sense. Scientists will be very happy with this information because it would help them keep researching for ideas to satisfy peoples questions related to this topic. 5 Forces Analysis

...5 Forces Analysis on the Paper Industry Looking at the position of the paper industry relative to the five forces model I had to determine exactly what constituted the paper industry. I had to decide between the Paper Mills Industry and Pulp Mills Industry and ultimately decided to analyze the Paper Mills Industry specifically when it came to paper industry as a whole. The NAICS Code that corresponds to the Paper Mills Industry is NAICS: 322121 or SIC Code 2621. Porter’s Five Forces Model of Competition includes the firm’s, or in this case the paper mill industry’s, position relative to current competitors, suppliers, customers, potential new entrants and potential substitutes. Over the next few pages I will conduct a five forces analysis of the Paper Mills Industry. Current Competitors: The degree of rivalry in the paper industry is the center of the five forces and the other four forces branch off of this. The first aspect to look at is the number and position of companies within the paper industry. There were 445 companies in 2009 and as of 2013 there are now 119 companies in the industry. This industry still has many competitors within the industry and therefor, there shouldn’t be any impact of any particular company. This industry is large enough where these firms can prosper without having to steal market share from each other and this is a positive for the paper industry. The second key factor is the industry growth rate and if there is room to increase revenues...

Paper

...are often used interchangeably to describe work which previously was done with paper, but which now has been adapted to information & communication technology (ICT) devices and software. The Information Technology Association of America (ITAA) has defined information technology (IT) in the electronic era as "the study, design, development, implementation, support or management of computer-based information systems, particularly software applications and computer hardware." IT entails processes involving the use of computers and software to create, convert, store, process, transmit, and retrieve information securely. The term has recently been broadened to ICT (Information and Communications Technology), so as to include the idea of electronic communication. To be paperless means essentially that the traditional paper-based practices-such as writing, note taking, reading, editing, communicating, and even drawing-are instead performed electronically with ICT devices and software. Much has been said and written about the paperless office in recent years, and the rapid development of ICT is enabling an increasing number of paperless practices. The relationship between paperless work styles and ICT is intimate and interdependent; a paperless work and lifestyle cannot be implemented without ICT, and the use of ICT should naturally lead to becoming paperless. Paradoxically, however, the consumption of paper has increased exponentially since the advent of personal...

Banana Stalk Paper

...B-Stalk Paper Background of the Study Paper is a felted sheet of usually fibers laid down on a fine screen from a water suspension. It is commonly used by everyone especially students and employees for their activities, reports and quizzes. It is also used for writing, printing and packaging materials in many products especially now that “No Plastics” campaigns are implemented. According to Wikipedia (2013), the environmental impact of paper is significant, which has led to changes in industry and behavior at both business and personal levels. With the use of modern technology such as the printing press and the highly mechanized harvesting of wood, disposable paper has become a cheap commodity. This has led to a high level of consumption and waste. With the rise in environmental awareness due to the lobbying by environmental organizations and with increased government regulation there is now a trend towards sustainability in the pulp and paper industry. Worldwide consumption of paper has risen by 400% in the past 40 years, with 35% of harvested trees being used for paper manufacture. Plantation forest, from where the majority of wood for pulping is obtained, is generally a monoculture and this raises concerns over the ecological effects of the practice. Our proposed business is intended to reduce the deforestation issue worldwide. That’s why we created an eco-friendly paper instead of cutting down old trees in the forest. We recycled the stalk of a banana plant to produce...

What this article talks about is the important of regular physical activity and that just sitting there watching television does not promote good health. Also one key point that this article states is that sitting or television viewing appears to reduce population-based life expectancy in the United States. I can include that information in my part of the project. McCARTHY, L. (2013). Take Back Family Time!. Working Mother, 72. This article will be a reference for my paper. The article states that family time has been impacted negatively since children watch a lot more versus spending time with their parents. Should Ebooks Take over?

...Yelyzaveta Tymchenko Dale Williams English 1020-101 July 4, 2013 Should e-books Take Over? In the current world, it is hard to see people with paper books in their hands. But people with smart phones, PC’s and other technological innovations can be seen in every place. Is it true that nobody is reading paper books in the world anymore? Some people say that e-books are more ecological and useful because there is no need to waste paper. However, others have a different opinion, and think that nothing can replace traditional books. Some people argue that there is no need in paper books anymore, while others people argue that there is need in paper books, and that it is more beneficial than e-books. There are two main words that need to be defined: traditional books and e-books. Today, most of the people are familiar with the term book.
