News on Phones

..."The number one benefit of information technology is that it empowers people to do what they want to do. It let's people be creative. It let's people learn things they didn't think they could learn before, and so in a sense it is all about potential" says Steve Ballmer. Technology has been evolving for quite some time. Long before this generation has been around. When technology started, it started out with typewriter's to dinosaur computers to laptops, and now cellphones! There was no such phone called a "smart" before. All people had was just a regular phone that one can only use to make phone calls. In this case, cellphones have a good and bad impact among peoples lives, but there seems to be more negative. In this modern era, cellphones have been pretty popular. Now that they are so called smart cell phones can pretty much do anything in one small device. A person can call, text, take pictures, or use for school work. Before technology became a big deal, phones were used to just call unless one would pay extra for texting. Since then many people use them every 5 minutes or so! Phones are great to keep in handy. A benefit of a phone is when someone goes out to run errands they have something to use for emergencies. No one may never know what can happen on the road. This can be a reason on why phones are a plus to keep in handy! It is known that cell phones are a cause for people to have lack of communication. Nowadays people do not communicate with others like before...

Before and After the Cellphone

...Cellphones have gradually become an imperative part of peoples lives today. 70% of the world's population have cellphones. These days, people and their mobile phones seem to be inseparable. Texting or calling someone when we wake up has become a usual habit just like brushing our teeth in the morning. For many of us, it's hard to imagine a time before cellphones. Having a cellphone has changed our manners, the way we communicate, and our safety. Before cellphones there seemed to be more peace and quite. People seemed to have manners. Today people don't always remember their manners when using their cellphones. People constantly carrying on personal conversations in a public place can be very annoying. Some people talk really loud and don't care that everyone around them can hear every word they are saying. It can be extremely disturbing to someone when they are walking in a mall or down a street and someone starts speaking right beside or behind them. They turn to respond, only to find out he or she beside them has an earbud active. Before we had cellphones people would actually write letters. During my elementary school days it was “cool” to pass notes. We actually used complete sentences and words that were in the dictionary. Also before cellphones if someone was to leave the house, they didn’t make a phone call unless they popped 10 cents into a pay phone. People never received any calls away from home. People actually had to be out of touch with friends and family when...

Riley V. California

...of a gang. Riley went to try to suppress all evidence the officer had got from searching his phone on the grounds that the search had violated his fourth amendment rights. However the trial court denied his argument and stated the incident was legitimate to arrest, Riley was convicted. In the case Riley v California the court made the decision that the police must have a warrant in order to search cell phones, even in a case of arrest. If any data that is not in the warrant is obtained an officer must get rid of it. To obtain a warrant there must need to be an emergency or demanding circumstance. The court emphasized that the fact that cellphones now allows an individual to carry so much information in their hands does not makes it less valuable and still needs protection. This decision is now added to the fourth amendment and covers cellphone rights. In the case of Riley v California 9-0 judges voted for the decision in which police must get a warrant in order to search a phone. The opinion of the court was delivered by chief justice john Roberts in which he concluded a warrant is needed to search phone. However Judge Samuel Alito wrote an opinion concurring in which he showed doubts that the warrant less search after arrest sole expectation is for protecting officer’s safety and preserving evidence. Alito still however...

...PARADIGM SHIFT: Cellphone Batteries INTRODUCTION The world has seen a lot of changes in communication technology. In 1973, the first cell phone call was made with a prototype, 10 years later, the first cellphones were released. Up to that time everyone had a landline and as the years went on, we had 1G, 2G, 3G and now, 4G, and 5G is being talked about in the not so distance future. As good as the technology was, there was still a problem that plagued all of this wonderful technology and that was the means by which the technology operated, “the battery”. The first cellphone battery only lasted 20 minutes and took 24 hours to recharge. However, at that time, it was not a problem because the phone weighed 1.1kg (2.42 lbs.), you were not able to hold the phone up to your ear for much longer than 20 minutes. The battery has not been able to keep up with the speed and function of the cellphone. However, that may soon change, people are working constantly to bring a fix for the battery so we can truly bring the cellphone into the 21st century. Just think of the possibilities! PARAGRAPH 1 Traveling well can be one of life's great pleasure, whether you're alone or with friends and family.    The Pocket Power plus it's a perfect backup power device for camping, fishing, hunting, hiking, picnicking, boating, motorcycling, beach activities, trips to remote locations and more. Convergence Culture

...example is how Henry Jenkins introduces us to the convergence culture, where old and new media collide. It mainly shows how individuals will do anything in order to obtain the kind of entertainment they want to see. How does convergence begin? It all starts with individuals and their connections with others. Henry refers to it as “collective intelligence”, which is knowing something and putting pieces together by joining ones thoughts with other resources and skills. I agree with Jenkins, individuals tend to build their conclusions based on the media and or others thoughts. Lets talk about Convergence Talk; once again I agree with Jenkins, I believe cellphones are the main target that have developed the most over the years. Cellphones are the key element, individuals are able to utilize them for any task they may need. Cellphones are made up of multiple devices all in one; there is no such thing as a single-function phone anymore. Now...
