Specific Purpose: To inform my audience about the laws set against pit bulls and to educate about the dog itself .

Central Idea: Monster that needs to be taken out at all cost, or misunderstood dog that happens to have a bad reputation.

Introduction
Monster, aggressive, dangerous, killer.
These are all names given to pit bulls.
But the question I have is why?
In my speech, we are going to talk about the legislation that comes along with owning a pit bull, a little bit about the pit bulls origins and how they got their reputation, their temperament, how they are as a family dog, what it’s like for these dogs in shelters, and finally talk about what you can do to help these animals.

In order to own a pit bull in Ohio, you must follow the following law:
Your dog (regardless of breed) is declared dangerous (a dog that has caused an injury to a person or killed another, so, or otherwise violated ORC 955.22) or vicious (a dog that has caused serious or fatal injury to a person without provocation) by your county dog warden.
Note that when they say, regardless of breed it means the different pit bulls breeds.

American Pit Bull Terrier
American Staffordshire Terrier
Staffordshire Bull Terrier
Any other purebred or mix breed dog
If you own a pit bull not only do you have to follow the guidelines set by the state of Ohio, but you also have to follow the general laws and enforcements your county put into place.
Now let’s talk about the pit bull origin and where it got its bad reputation
