Inside Your Head
Multiple Personality Disorder (MPD) or Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID) was first acknowledged in the 1700's but it was not understood at the time, so it was therefore dismissed as simply a smaller symptom of a larger issue. Many cases show up in medical records throughout the years, but in 1905, Dr. Morton Prince wrote a book about MPD that is now a well-known foundation for the disease. A few years after it was published Sigmund Freud dismissed the affliction and this dropped it from being discussed at any credible mental health establishments. Since then the disorder was overlooked and misdiagnosed as either schizophrenia or psychosis. Many in the medical profession did not believe that a person could unknowingly have more than one personality or person inside one body. In 1993, records showed that three to five thousand patients were being treated for MPD, compared to the hundreds of cases reported ten years earlier. There is still an increase in the number of cases being reported as the scientific community learns more about the disease and the public is becoming more aware of this mental disorder. However there are still many questions left unanswered about this disease, like "Is it genetic?" or "Is a certain type of personality more vulnerable to the disorder?" but many aspects of how people come by the disorder are already answered.
MPD is commonly found in adults who were frequently abused mentally, physically, emotionally, and/or sexually as young children, generally between the ages of 1 to 8 years of age. Children enact a method of self-preservation through a process called dissociation to remove his or herself from the abusive situation. Dissociation is when a child makes up an imaginary personality (or friend) to take control of their mind and body while they are being

Backstroke

...Easy Roll Easy roll is a newly designed Simple Machine that is useful to everyone. It is durable, useful, convenient and helpful! Various things can be put inside the Easy roll like shopping bags, food and beverages for outings, books and notebooks and other things that fit the machine. The company’s main goal in making the machine is to solve our problems. Usually, in rainy seasons, we complain that our things get wet. With the help of their product, our things will be protected because of the covering provided by the machine. Another problem is the weight of what we are carrying. With the use of the Easy roll, what we will be carrying will weigh less and it would be easier to move them to places. There is also a small compartment at the lower part of the inside of Easy roll so that people could separate some objects desired to be separated. It has different parts which has different uses. It is also composed of different simple machines like the wheel and axle, screws, and a wedge. The wheel and axle in Easy roll is the wheels for it to easily be moved from one place to another. Brain Injury

...A hard blow to the head can shake the brain inside the skull, resulting in bruising, broken blood vessels, or nerve damage to the brain. When you take a hard hit to the head but there's no outward bleeding or opening in the skull, it could result in a closed brain injury. An open brain injury is when an object penetrates the skull and goes into the brain. A TBI can be mild or severe. A concussion is a mild TBI -- you should recover pretty quickly. A severe TBI can do enough damage to knock you unconscious for a longer period of time. It can even lead to a coma or death A concussion is caused by a jolt that shakes your brain back and forth inside your skull. Any hard hit to the head or body -- whether it's from a football tackle or a car accident -- can lead to a concussion. Although a concussion is considered a mild brain injury, it can leave lasting damage if you don't rest long enough to let your brain fully heal afterward. Just like you need to rest your ankle after a sprain, you need to rest your brain after a concussion. Get plenty of sleep to give your brain time to heal. Ease back into activities like school and work slowly when you start feeling better. Stay off the playing field until your doctor gives you the OK. Getting a second concussion before the first one has healed can slow your recovery and increase the risk for permanent...

Development in Conception and Birth

...formatting features make it easier to read. This paper provides examples of manuscript title page, abstract page, first text page, running heads, and citation and reference style, as well as an overview of the new APA manual as a whole. It also provides, in the first section, clear-cut instructions for how to deliver proper new APA style when working in Microsoft Word (both pre-2007 and 2007 versions). Setting Up the Two Running Heads in Word One important change to APA concerns where to place the two running heads, and, because placing running heads in Word can be tricky, this first section of the paper is dedicated to making that process as painless as possible. You could, of course, simply use this document (the one you're reading now) as a template for your own paper (and save yourself the work of reading through what follows), but you may be better off in the long run, for the sake of your work in other projects, if you read and work through the instructions. (If you do decide to go the template route, be sure to use the Save As/97-2003 option—see number 7, below, for details.) Setting up the required running heads in Word can be tricky because it involves both left and right alignment on a single line (for title text and page number, respectively), because two running heads are required instead of just one (thanks to the "Running head" that needs to be included in one of them!), and because, perhaps counter-intuitively, the...
