To me, my favorite activity would have to be using the internet. I know it sounds kind of boring but it is my way of getting away for a little while each day. Three reasons why the internet is my favorite activity are it is relaxing, educational, and can be a lot of fun if you go to the right websites.

For me, the internet can be a great way to unwind at the end of a stressful day. When I have a long and monotonous day, coming home and getting on the computer helps alleviate some of the burdens and stresses of the day. For instance, I’ll come home and check my email, and see who has bothered to send me anything. Next I’ll sign onto instant messenger so I can stay in contact with my family and friends. Maybe I am just weird but I love coming home every night and doing these two things.

Secondly, using the internet can be very informative. For example, when I am doing my Spanish homework I would be lost without being able to get online and check certain translations and grammar points. It can also be very helpful if I am doing a report for a class. The internet has information for just about any topic that the teacher could possibly give out.

Lastly, the internet can be very amusing. There are many fun things to do on the internet like play games, watch Youtube videos, or use one of the “Social Networking” sites such as Facebook and Myspace. The number of websites out there to play games on is very large. There are either sites where they require a payment for the games and ones that are completely free. Either way they can keep most people amused for hours. Youtube has millions of videos of all different sorts. Whenever I feel like there is nothing else to do on the internet, I just go to Youtube. There is always something new to watch. Social networking sites can also be fun. They can help people stay in contact with their friends, and also even lets play

Internet Tracking Essay

...Tim Castillo English 250/260 Oct. 6th 2013 Internet tracking essay Addiction happens when a person can’t stop doing something that they like. Even if they want to stop, they succumb to addiction, and it makes one want to do it again. On a scale of one to ten I would say my addiction level is a five. However compared to Ms. Stites, I would give myself a three. Ms. Stites is one of the most addicted persons I have ever heard of. Social media is fun and its good to connect with friends, but it shouldn’t be used to stalk others or find random people. I chose five because I don’t think that I am one to use too much technology. I’m average at best. The reason why I believe I’m average is because the most I do is play video games online, look at funny pictures on the internet, and use my phone. I do tend to spend most of my time on the games though. That’s the worst thing when it comes to addiction for me. I don’t think I could live without my video games. That’s my source of entertainment. I’m sure others would rather go to parties and concerts. If you put a controller in my hand, ill be good for the week. Our objective was to compare our selves to stites who is a crazy ten. Then compare myself to students in our class. The amount of internet usage I had was a total of fifty hours. I spent the whole week playing video games for thirty-five hours. I spent time on my computer for eight hours and looked at funny pictures for two hours on my phone. I have also Skyped on my phone...

Internet Addiction Essay

...Assignment 2.2 I believe the writer of Internet Addiction, Greg Beato intended on making his audience aware of how scary society is becoming with the strenuous need of internet and technology. Mr. Beato does a great job of pointing out several statistics, research, and even gives brief short stories that are funny, ridiculous, and also very sad that helps him accomplish catching the reader’s attention if not scaring them on how much we are becoming addicted to the internet. Mr. Beato also brings up addiction to gaming quite often throughout this article. Although the internet and gaming coincide with each other it seems he used one of these terrible stories to also touch base on his view of violent video games. I felt confused on his purpose at some parts of the article. Is it the video games or internet? Or maybe he was just using the claim of the “Xbox Shooter” to help scare the audience more on addiction. The article has many scare tactics that I thought went quite overboard. Statements such as “As the Internet weaves itself more and more tightly into our lives, only the Amish are completely safe.” Or that “Where employees who view porn at work are legally protected from termination.” Maybe Mr. Beato was just trying to be funny at these parts, but if he was then it was an “EPIC FAIL” as many gamers like myself would say. To me those scenarios are just very radical views. Mr. Beato does achieve a purpose, and makes many excellent points in the article. Not without making...

Persuasive Essay On Internet Privacy

...to being asked about the U.S. government’s role in monitoring internet content is the very reasonable conclusion that they certainly have a duty to do so for those who are on a list of some sort from either committing a crime or having ties to an organization that has a history with committing crime. Everyone can surely come to agreement that they should not track every U.S. citizen because it is an extreme waste of resources and tax dollars and a violation of due process. However, there's another, less obvious, face to the problems that result from a lack of the expectation of privacy over the Internet. The White House proposed the consumer privacy “bill of rights”. This bill was intended to prevent web services such as Google from collecting your information and selling it to a third party without giving you the ability to opt-out and without giving you the ability to review what kind of information they're giving to these third parties. This was a really important proposal as it was one of the few that, had it succeeded, would have been a huge success for consumer rights. If this...

Argumentative Essay: Should The Government Monitoring The Internet?

...I think that the government shouldn't have to monitor the internet unless there's an on going investigation that involves internet traffic. Meaning drug deals, selling illegal things, selling people, and pretty much anything and like that. Not only should the internet not be monitored but the government shouldn't expel net neutrality. The vote on it was yesterday, December 14th, 2017. If net neutrality is gone, the government and every other company that owns an internet browser can control everything. From the speed of videos to the content you see. It's like a giant parental control. Keeping net neutrality will allow for all people to access the internet and it's great information. If it's gone, think of all the payments you'll have to pay....

India and Pakistan got independence from the British rule in 1947. Pakistan was formed for the Muslims and India had a majority of Hindus. Pakistan had two parts, East and West, which were separated by about 1,000 miles. East Pakistan was mainly the eastern part of the province of Bengal. The capital of Pakistan was Karachi in West Pakistan and was moved to Islamabad in 1958. However, due to discrimination in economy and ruling powers against them, the East Pakistanis vigorously protested and declared independence on March 26, 1971 under the leadership of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. But during the year prior to that, to suppress the unrest in East Pakistan, the Pakistani government sent troops to East Pakistan and unleashed a massacre. And thus, the war for liberation commenced. The Reasons for war Both East and West Pakistan remained united because of their religion, Islam. West Pakistan had 97% Muslims and East Pakistanis had 85% Muslims. However, there were several significant reasons that caused the East Pakistani people to fight for their independence. West Pakistan had four provinces: Punjab, Sindh, Balochistan, and the North-West Frontier. The fifth province was East Pakistan. Having control over the provinces, the West used up more resources than the East. Between 1948 and 1960, East Pakistan made 70%...

In the end, your reader will evaluate your claim based not only on the quality of the evidence you present, but also on your interpretation of it. You will examine your evidence to determine its relevance, validity, and level of detail. Liking Is for Cowards

...Essay  on  “Liking  is  for  Cowards.  Go  for  What  Hurts” We’re  spending  more  and  more  time  online  and  less  time  out  in  the  real  world.  But  is  modern  technology   really doing us harm? And are we missing out on a lot of important stuff when we hide behind our screens and use a mouse as our mouthpiece? These are some of the important question that arise from reading Jonathan  Franzen’s  essay,    “Liking  is  for  Cowards.  Go  for  What  Hurts” from 2011. The 51-year-old author puts our daily internet routines into perspective and forces us to think critically about what we are doing online. But he beats around the bush for a while before he starts presenting his actual message. He thus starts out sharing a personal experience of getting a new smartphone and uses this as a starting point for voicing his concerns. Jonathan Franzen is aware of the danger of scaring off those young   readers   who   might   be   fed   up   with   older   people   complaining   about   the   youth   of   today,   “Very   probably,  you’re  sick  to  death  of  hearing  social  media  disrespected by cranky 51-year-olds”  (ll.  140-142). He therefore catches this young audience’s   attention   by   comparing   his   relationship   to   his   outdated   smartphone   to   a   relationship   of   romantic   nature.   He   uses   familiar   expressions   like   “trust   issues”,   “accountability  issues”  and  having  “outgrown  the  relationship”. In this...
