Internet vs. Entertainment The Internet is one of the most revolutionary innovations of the 20th century. It has an impact on nearly every aspect of our lives. Individuals now have been able to gain access within their own homes. Recently, individuals could watch or listen to shows, music, movies, and more on mobile phones and iPods. But television also plays such a significant role in people's everyday lives that it's impossible to imagine how we could live without it. In our time, there's such a wide variety of programs to choose. The internet has changed the American view on entertainment because you are given more choices and people can watch shows and movies whenever they want. Today, most television channels have shows that are either broadcasted live or filmed. Filmed shows are where actors and producers spend at least 12 to 13 hours a day depending how long the show is. When producers film TV shows, they edit the shows to perfection, which means there is no mistakes. However, when celebrities or anyone that is broadcasted live, anything could happen. One of the greatest parts about Internet is that if you've missed a show on television, you could always watch it the next day online. Now, people must wonder how we can live without the Internet. It's impossible. The Internet is a daily use to mostly everyone in the world. You could also multitask when you're using the Internet. For an example, you could be watching an episode while checking your emails. Usually on television, you could only watch one show at a time. On the Internet, you could always watch previous shows or watch an episode as many times as you want. Plus, one of the benefits of online shows is that there are fewer commercials. People have always complained about them because commercials usually last about 2 to 5 minutes long. Instead, on the Internet, you could either skip the commercial or it would be about a minute long. There are many great sites on the Internet to watch episodes, clips, or even music videos. One of them is YouTube. YouTube has been out since February in 2005. You could search for episodes from the late 1960's to the latest videos. There are millions of scary, hilarious, emotional, and performance videos to watch on this website. However, some of the videos could be explicit or unrated. Anyone that is under 18 or unregistered cannot view the unrated or explicit videos. Not only Americans can have access to YouTube, but it's worldwide. Probably one of the most important questions is: What would've happened if we never had Internet? Could we survive without it? The answer is just possibly no. If we didn't have the Internet, students couldn't research a paper or do online classes, online shows would never exist, business workers wouldn't be able to send emails or work online, and people wouldn't be able to enjoy entertainment as much.
