Presentation-of-Self: 1. Tell me you are wearing (head to toe) for your interview; including: • Hairstyle, haircut • Face (shaven or not, makeup, earrings, etc. if any) • Clothing • Shoes • Watch, jewelry, etc.
On the day of my interview I would wear a dark suit (preferably black) with matching belt and oxford shoes. I will be clean-shaven and have my hair combed back away from my face. I will not wear in jewelry apart from a simple watch.

2. Tell me how you are sitting in your chair, once you have seated yourself in front of the interviewer(s).
I would seat myself to a slight right angle to my interview panel so I can good eye contact during the interview process. I would sit displaying good posture and slightly lean forward if necessary.
I will also make sure to exhibit positive body language such as trying to smile and maintain good eye contact. 3. Tell me, in what general direction are you looking while contemplating your answer to a tough question?
I would always try to look at the faces of my interview panel during the process, during the interview I will not look down and else where around the room because this may show signs of day dreaming and lack of interest.

4. Tell me what qualities you inject into your voice, in answering the interviewers’ questions
I will speak with zero grammatical errors and since I’m a foreigner ill make sure my accent is clear and understandable. I will make sure there is confidence and enthusiasm in my voice, it is also important to remember to not sound monotonous.

5. Tell me what qualities you avoid injecting into your voice while answering the interviewers’ questions.
Apart of from not sounding monotonous, I would also want to make sure I wouldn’t use any slang or unprofessional vocabulary in my speech i.e. I would not use the kind of speech I would use when having a conversation with my colleagues or relatives. I would also try not keep changing the tone of voice too much.

Behavioral Interview Questions: 1. Tell me about yourself.
Even before starting college I had a clear vision of what I want my career path to be, which is hospitality and tourism. This was the main reason behind the selection of my major “Business Tourism” at the W.P Carey school of Business. I consider myself a citizen of the world; being an International student with vast travel experience I believe I have a good exposure to a global culture. Furthermore I am a part of several international organizations such as the international student association at ASU. 2. Tell me what you know about our organization and why you want to be a part of it.
The first reason why I chose your organization is because it directly matches my field of studies and I believe it will be a good opportunity to finally use all the theoretical knowledge I gained here at W.P Carey. The reason why I chose your organization in specifically from the other industry leaders is because your organization is a part of the Fortune 50. According to your company profile your current CEO started out of from the bottom of the hierarchy and this really motivated me because it showed that your organization does give opportunity for advancement if you work hard enough. 3. Tell me about a time you worked with a team and how you interacted with the team.
During my summer internship in 2012 I worked with a team of 5 interns. Every week when we were given a project to work on, I made it a habit to pool all the team members’ ideas and discuss among each other to decide which solution to go ahead with. I believe this constant sharing of ideas made sure team interaction was always present. I’m a strong believer in Teamwork especially because of my involvement in sports. 4. Tell me about a time you were under a lot of pressure and felt a lot of stress, and how you handled it.
This fall when I attended college I missed the first two weeks of school due to the passing away of my uncle. When I arrived at ASU, my supply chain management class already had a paper due in two days that was 20% of our final grade. Personally I believe pressure and stress is all in your head, it’s all about you handled the situation. I would tackle pressure and stress as a challenge and I would actually enjoy completing that specific task. For example I handled Supply chain management paper by drawing up a game plan that specifically helped me finish the paper in a step-by-step process. Planning out a highly stressful situation helped me receive a letter grade “A” on my paper.

5. Tell me about a time you had a boss or co-worker you didn’t get along with and how you handled it.
Here I would like to back to my summer internship in 2012. Like I have mentioned before we were in a group of 6 interns and often people have different personality and it’s difficult to get along. In our group we had one intern who always thought that his project solution were always right and this became a problem for our group. Yes, I could have ignored this team member and continue working with the rest of my group but I cant do that to be successful. In the real world the working relationship you have with your co-workers are very important for success and this is where my knowledge from my Business Communication classes came into play. Small group communication in specific.
In this situation I asked the intern to sit down and speak with me. I gave the intern a moment to speak about his ideas and explain to me why he is right. After listening to the intern I actually understood some of his ideas were very practical while some were not. I made sure to show appreciation and appraisal to his good ideas; I also made sure displayed empathy towards his idea. Good communication is the success to handling difficult individuals. Today that intern is actually one of my closest friends. 6. Tell me about a time you had a problem to solve. What was the problem and how did you solve it?
My family business is a small packaging company. We had issues with the disposal of the paper waste from packaging. When I solve a problem I try my best to get the most benefits out of the situation so that all stakeholders are happy.
In context of my family business, I research a lot about paper recycling and how you can actually get paid for it. So I introduced this local recycling company to my parents, today the recycling company sends a truck every week to collect waste paper. This solution made sure that our company look cleaner, created another source of income and also gave our company a environmentally friendly image

7. Tell me about a time when you bent the rules at your job.
It is difficult to provide you an answer for this question because under no circumstances is it necessary to break company policy to achieve something. However there were instances where I thought of the box at the same time making sure that I’m not breaking any rules. During my internship we were given the company’s financial statements from the previous years so we could compare the financial performance of the company. After comparing the financial statements, in my own personal time I compared the financial statement with the statements of the Industry rivals just to get a better idea of things. Even though I was not specifically asked to do this, I did it anyways so I could present a better financial report to my superiors. Nevertheless I still strongly believe that rules are present at a work to maintain good work ethic and personally I would never bend the rules without consulting my superiors.

8. Tell me about a time that you were disappointed by something that happened at your job.
When I had my first job as a server I would often get disappointed when I didn’t receive a good tip. I think the most important thing I learnt here was not to blame others, it would be unethical of me to not provide a good service and it would have a negative impact on the restaurant I worked for as well. Here is where I used my positive attitude and worked harder to provide the best customer service at all times, because in the service industry customer is king. Sure there were poor tipping customers but at majority customers were tipping me more than usual.

9. Tell me about a time that you were angered by something that happened at your job and how you handled it.
Coming from a Buddhist family and also being a strong believer has really helped me to prevail from anger. Anytime that I have felt a sense of anger at my workplace, I would allow myself to feel angry but in my own personal time. Instead of complaining to my superiors I would often turn to them for advice on how to prevent the situation in the future.
Another trait I have learnt from Buddhism and will continue to use at my workplace is Committing to act without seeking retribution, here I decide that I’m not looking to get even or regain a sense of power. I’m looking to address the situation and communicate your thoughts about it clearly.

10. Do you have any questions for me?
Yes, I do have a few questions for you. The first question is, I’m applying as an entry-level employee for your organization. I want to know whether there is opportunity for career advancement within your organization?

...The purpose of the study was to analyze the employee’s perspective on the roles of supervisors to prevent workplace disability after injuries. As part of needs assessment for a supervisory training program, 30 employees from four companies were interviewed about the role of supervisors to prevent workplace disability after injuries. From interview notes, 305 employee statements were extracted for analysis. An affinity mapping process with an expert panel produced 11 common themes: accommodation, communicating with workers, responsiveness, concern for welfare, empathy/support, validation, fairness/respect, follow-up, shared decision-making, coordinating with medical providers, and obtaining coworker support of accommodation (Shaw, Robertson, Pransky, McClellan, 2003). In qualitative reports, the researcher needs to address the quality criteria of confirmability, dependability, and credibility of the study.
