In 2008, the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF) and the Institute of Medicine (IOM) committee spent two years evaluating and transforming the nursing profession in order to help ready the future needs of healthcare. Two years later, on October 5, 2010 and just months after the ACA was signed, the IOM published its report named The Future of Nursing: Leading Change, Advancing Healthcare which partially focuses on the transformation of nursing education, practice and leadership roles of nursing.
