Picture a coffee shop in the late afternoon (probably Starbuck’s): You step out of your car and into the cold, windy Texas Winter air. As you hurry across the parking lot towards the warmth that awaits you on the other side of the shop doors, you are nervous and a little eager at the thought of meeting this woman you’ve only been talking to for about a week. You step into the shop and take a look around. You notice a woman sitting at a table in the farthest corner of the seating area. She has short, dark hair which looks like it was combed forward except for the bangs which are swept to one side. “Just like the pictures,” You think.
At first you aren’t sure what to do because she is staring at you with a look on her face that seems to be asking “Are you the one I am waiting for?” Well of course you are – after all, you exchanged photos, so she should know what you look like. She stands and begins walking towards you. She is wearing a pair of blue jeans and a long sleeve black shirt with some words you can’t quite make out on the upper left side. “This is it,” you think to yourself. “The moment of no return. Too late to turn back now.” When she is within a couple of steps, she reaches out a hand. As an automatic response, you reach out your own and the first real contact you have with this woman is a simple handshake. Her hand is warm and soft; a welcome feeling on your own, which feels as if it actually froze in the few seconds you were walking from the car to the shop. While a handshake may not have been what you expected, it somehow seems right for the moment. You smile at her and she returns the smile.
She speaks first. “Hi, you must be…”. After a few formalities, you and the woman decide to get your drinks. You manage small talk while waiting for the coffee; talking about the weather, typical coffee orders and food you’ve both tried at this place. Finally, you both have coffee in hand and head to the table which the woman occupied before your arrival.
She takes a sip from her coffee and you do the same. The warmth from the coffee seems to warm you both from the inside out and suddenly you both relax. The conversation starts simple, plans for the weekend, things that happened the prior week at work/school, slowly the conversation turns more personal and you both begin to learn more about the person sitting across from you. The time passes quickly as stories from the past are shared and ideas are discussed. Before you know it, the sun has begun to set outside. The woman look’s out across the parking lot at the setting sun and glances down at her watch. “It’s getting dark,” she begins. “Do you have somewhere you need to be tonight? We could continue our conversation another time.”
You look at her, smiling and say, “I don’t have any plans for the rest of the evening. Perhaps we could continue our conversation over dinner? If you don’t have any plans, that is.”
The woman smiles back at you. “That sounds great,” she replies.

Potions Minecraft

...Bottles. Also note that Water Bottles do not stack. Now go to the Brewing Stand and use it to bring up the brewing interface. Place up to three Water Bottles in the slots at the bottom then place the Primary Ingredient in the slot in the top. Once the brewing is complete, you can drop in another ingredient to further alter or enhance the potion such as adding Gunpowder to turn a Potion into a Splash Potion. Tip: Always try to use three Glass Bottles at a time when brewing. Only a single Primary Ingredient can be used to create three potions so it is very inefficient to create only one potion at a time unless you are in a pinch. Potions are brewed in stages and the first potion you'll need to brew before you can get to the more interesting ones is the Awkward Potion. The primary ingredient for this is a Nether Wart. You can then add additional ingredients to the Awkward Potion such as Sugar or a Ghast Tear to create a useful potion. Creating a potion by starting with any other ingredient results in either Mundane or Thick Potions that are essentially useless right now and can only be used to create a Potion of Weakness after combining the Mundane/Thick Potion with a Fermented Spider Eye. If you need a Potion of Weakness, it is best to just start with the Fermented Spider Eye. Beer

...Classification of Beer What's more refreshing on a hot summer day than a nice cold beer? Or how about drinking a nice cold one with some buddies after work at a local bar, sound nice doesn?t it? Beer has been around for many years and will probably be around for many more. A beer is any variety of alcoholic beverages produced by the fermentation of starchy material derived from grains or other plant sources. The production of beer and some other alcoholic beverages is often called brewing. Most every culture has there own tradition and the own take on beer, thus producing many different styles and variations. Simply put, a beer style is a label given to a beer that describes its overall character and often times its origin. It's a name badge that has been achieved over many centuries of brewing, trial and error, marketing, and consumer acceptance. There are many different types of beer, each of which is said to belong to a particular style. A beer's style is a label that describes the overall flavour and often the origin of a beer, according to a system that has evolved by trial and error over many centuries. According to the type of yeast that is used in the beer's fermentation process, most beer styles fall into one of two large families: ale or lager. Beers that blend the characteristics of ales and lagers are referred to as hybrids. An ale is any beer that is brewed using only top-fermenting yeasts, and typically at higher temperatures than lager yeast. Because...

Concept Statment

...When I think about the “third space”, and what makes people happy, I think about a place that is stress free, a place people can go to connect to one another and disconnect from their busy lives. I think of a place where interaction is welcomed and relationships are formed. When designing Shepherd’s Brewery I plan on incorporating all those ideas and designing a place that encourages these acts. Brining your dog into your “third space” is a more common practice in today’s society, dogs are leaving backyards and traveling with their owners and serving more as companions then pets. There have been many studies proving that owning a dog is beneficial to ones wellbeing and has many positive effects. Being a dog lover myself, I find that owning a dog not only relaxes me, but encourages me to be more social in new environments, and promotes positives interactions between myself and others. In the Journal Article, The Health Benefits of Owning a Pet, Dr. Jean Martin states that “Children and adults alike can benefit from playing with and owning pets, which can be a good source of calmness and relaxation, as well as a source of stimulation for the brain and body.” This interaction would help facilitate the type of interactions and help to promote the environment I envision. Design alone is not enough to promote happiness, it’s the surrounding environment that helps to develop happy experiences and encounters. Due to the California Health Code, animals, (with the exception of service...

Case New Belgium Brewing (B)

...Case New Belgium Brewing (B) New Belgium Brewing: Developing a Brand Personality * Background NEW BELGIUM’S INITIAL MARKETING STRATEGY The idea for the New Belgium Brewing Company began with a bicycling trip through Belgium. Belgium is arguably the home of some of the world’s finest ales, some of which have been brewed for centuries in that country’s monasteries. As Jeff Lebesch, an American electrical engineer, cruised around that country on his fat-tired mountain bike, he wondered if he could produce such high-quality beers back home in Colorado. After acquiring the special strain of yeast used to brew Belgian-style ales, Lebesch returned home and began to experiment in his Colorado basement. When his beers earned thumbs up from friends, Lebesch decided to market them. The New Belgium Brewing Company opened for business in 1991 as a tiny basement operation in Lebesch home in Fort Collins. Lebesch wife, Kim Jordan, became the firm’s marketing director. New Belgium beers quickly developed a small but devoted customer base, first in Fort Collins and then throughout Colorado. The brewery soon outgrew the couple’s basement and moved into an old railroad depot before settling into its present custom-built facility in 1995. The company’s standard line has grown to include Sunshine Wheat, Blue Paddle Pilsner, Abbey Ale, Trippel Ale, 1554 Black Ale, and the original Fat Tire Amber Ale, still the firm’s bestseller. Today, New Belgium Brewing is America’s third largest...

Evolution of Brewery Industry

...1650 to 1800: The Early Days of Brewing in America Brewing in America dates to the first communities established by English and Dutch settlers in the early to mid seventeenth century. Dutch immigrants quickly recognized that the climate and terrain of present-day New York were particularly well suited to brewing beer and growing malt and hops, two of beer's essential ingredients. A 1660 map of New Amsterdam details twenty-six breweries and taverns, a clear indication that producing and selling beer were popular and profitable trades in the American colonies (Baron, Chapter Three). Despite the early popularity of beer, other alcoholic beverages steadily grew in importance and by the early eighteenth century several of them had eclipsed beer commercially. Between 1650 and the Civil War, the market for beer did not change a great deal: both production and consumption remained essentially local affairs. Bottling was expensive, and beer did not travel well. Nearly all beer was stored in, and then served from, wooden kegs. While there were many small breweries, it was not uncommon for households to brew their own beer. In fact, several of America's founding fathers brewed their own beer, including George Washington and Thomas Jefferson (Baron, Chapters 13 and 16). 1800-1865: Brewing Begins to Expand National production statistics are unavailable before 1810, an omission which reflects the rather limited importance of the early brewing industry. In 1810, America's 140 commercial...

Kaladet: A Short Story

...noisily, stretch lazily and get out of bed. It is 5 am already. Now, I’m late. I should have woken up when the cocks crow. I start a fire with the twigs my mother has collected. I put peas in an earthen pot, add water and put the pot on the fire. Then, I wash my face and, brush my teeth with salt and do my homework. My mother get up and keep an eye on the pot. When the peas are ready she put them in a basket, tell me that the peas are ready but are a bit undercooked and blame me for getting up late. I change my clothes and walk out, carrying the basket on my head. I plod along the badly rutted dirt road for a while, turn right and sashay along a tar road shouting pebyoke (boil peas). An old lady call me and buy some pebyoke. I walk along, wiggling my hips as I pass by a teashop where boys my age are having tea and chatting noisily. An old geezer call out: “pebyaw” (soggy peas). I tell him that my peas are not soggy today, but I refrain from telling him that they are undercooked. After walking around several roads and selling most of my peas, I return....

...Question 1 (i): Using the data from the case (and any other source available), carry out for the European brewing industry a PESTEL analysis. What do you conclude? Beer has been a part of the social fabric of cultures around the world for thousands of years. Even today beer ranks as the third most popular beverage in the world next to water and tea. Considered one of the oldest drinks, the origin of beer dates back to 6000 B.C. With low-cost strategies and lack of marketing and product innovations all created a very stable situation guaranteeing high returns on investments for most breweries in Europe. However, this situation has been changing dramatically and the industry has witnessed different brewing styles over the last decade. The market entry of large multinational breweries resulted in shrinking demand due to changing consumer preferences, the emergence of more aggressive competitive strategies and rapid changes in important distribution channels have created growing competitive pressures for European breweries. An industry that was used to stability must now find its way in an increasingly turbulent market environment. First of all, I need to evaluate the macro environment of the industry. The most suitable tool to analyze the broad macro-environment is the PESTEL analysis. In the PESTEL analysis environmental influences are categorized into political, economical, social, technological, environmental/ecological and legal aspects. It helps to identify how future trends...

Deutsche Braueri

...Deutsche Braueri I. Introductory Paragraph Deutsche Brauerei has been a family owned and operated corporation for 12 generations, which has created a high level of focus and control. Each generation has kept the management and operations processes relatively simple, centered on brewing practices and quality. Deutsche Brauerei’s rapid growth in recent years can be attributed to several factors. First and foremost, the company’s success is centered on the product itself, which has won numerous quality awards and is quite popular in Germany. Another contributing factor to the recent growth may have been a bit inadvertent. The purchase of new equipment in 1994, which was necessary as a result of a fire that destroyed the old equipment, allowed the company to increase brewing capacity and efficiency. Finally, Deutsche Brauerei’s decision to enter the Ukranian market in 1998 contributed significantly to the rapid growth. The collapse of the U.S.S.R. brought market reforms, and Deutsche Brauerei jumped on the opportunity to enter the fragmented beer industry, capture the large population and capitalize on the prime location in Europe. Lukas Schweitzer was savvy enough to hire local expert Oleg Pinchuk away from a competitor as the marketing manager, and Oleg was instrumental in building the business in Ukraine by securing accounts and implementing the field warehousing to support distributors. Deutsche’s beer was hugely popular in the Ukraine almost immediately, and volume sales...

...School 9-388-014 Rev. June 23, 1992 Adolph Coors in the Brewing Industry "Rarely in Adolph Coors Company's 113-year history has there been a year with as many success stories as 1985." Coors's annual report for 1985 went on to cite records set by the company's Brewing Division. In a year when domestic beer consumption was flat, Coors's beer volume had jumped by 13% to a new high of 14.7 million barrels. And its revenues from beer had topped $1 billion for the first time in the company's history. The Brewing Division accounted for 84% of Coors's revenues in 1985, and over 100% of its operating income. Although Coors had diversified into several businesses, including porcelain, food products, biotechnology, oil and gas, and health systems, Chairman Bill Coors acknowledged that for the foreseeable future, the company's fortunes were tied to brewing. The strategy of the Brewing Division had changed drastically over the 1975-1985 period. The changes continued: in a decision that the company billed as "the most significant event of 1985 and perhaps our history," Coors announced plans to build its second brewery in Virginia's Shenandoah Valley. The first section of this case describes competition in the U.S. brewing industry and its structural consequences. The next two sections describe Coors's position within the industry, and the plans that it had announced for its second brewery. Competition in the U.S. Brewing Industry In 1985, Americans spent $38 billion to buy 183 million...

...around whether a black man should ever be allowed to kill a white man, under any circumstances. The issue is not murder but discrimination, and it is compound by the fact that America is a primarily a white country. The issue through this all was racism and being in the south in 1984, where whites still treated the blacks poorly. “This was Mississippi, where for years whites shot blacks for any reason or no reason and no one cared; where whites raped blacks and it was considered sport; where blacks were hanged for fighting back.” ― John Grisham, A Time to Kill Set in the deep south of the back fields of northern Mississippi in the 1980’s, the setting was perfect for there to be battle between the blacks and the white, as it has been brewing since before the civil rights days. Placing the story in this time and place is the most natural discovery of buried hatchets and the most subtle revelations of festering wounds and double standards. The start of the film you will see a couple of white males by the name of Billy Ray Cobb and Pete Willard riding down a dirt road in a pickup truck with a confederate flag hanging inside, a perfect picture of a stereotyped redneck. The confrontation started when a ten year old of a respected African American family was raped and the suspects were white males that were...

Why Is Remembrance Important

...Remembrance is “something that serves to bring to mind or keep in mind some place, person, event, etc.” We have many days specified to one special event that we take the time to remember and celebrate once every year. It is important to have these special days to make sure that events that have happened in the past live on to not be forgotten. It`s important that we recognize hero`s, and what they have done for our country. Along with the fallen that have gave their lives for us today. There are many events in history that get over looked and not recognized how they should be, lots of events have been forgotten because we don’t specify a day for us all to give thanks and remember. As well as December 6, 1917, when a tragic event occurred in...
