Whilst eating my breakfast, I convinced myself that everything will be alright and I also thought about all the household chores I need to do in the absence of my mother. After breakfast, I did the washing up and went to the market in order to buy food. As I didn't know by then what I wanted to cook for dinner, I just had a stroll around in order to gather some ideas. At the end I bought some noodles so that I could bake Vietnamese noodles for dinner. As I didn't know how to cook those noodles, I researched a recipe via google for 30 minutes, and at the end I found a video which demonstrated step-by-step how to cook the noodles  . Art of the Start

...Quiz Positioning is the focus of chapter two in Art of the Start, by Guy Kawasaki. All new companies need to great positioning to be successful and develop their brand. The startup that I believe created successful positioning is called, Plated. Plated is a New York City based startup formed in 2012 by Josh Hix and Nick Taranto. Plated is a website where users can see different recipes from chefs around the world. If there is a recipe that you like, you can can request the dish, then Plated sends you exactly every ingredient you need. This tackles the common issue of buying too much or not enough of an ingredient when preparing a meal. This startup also allows users to try a variety of dishes that they may have not heard of. Plated was also featured on this past season of ABC’s Shark Tank in efforts to raise more money to branch out into the mid-west and west coast. My girlfriend Tammy and I frequently use Plated to make meals, and as a customer I have always been satisfied. The best thing about Plated is that they send you all the ingredients, measured out perfectly, all you do is follow the recipe instructions. Also, if they send you meat or fish, they make sure to place it in an ice pack bag to keep it fresh. When I first heard about Plated I realized that they have made their service for people who don’t have time to make meals and for people who don’t have cooking experience in general. This is a “specific” positioning technique as mentioned by Kawasaki on page 31. The...

Food Culture

...uses food to express feeling and emotion access the food cooking, while americans are more like the free style. I wil illustrate these differences from three aspects: cooking standard, diet and the way of having dinner. Firstly, the cooking standard is different. Americans emphasize science and nutrition. This is why their whole procedure of cooking is in strict accordance, and the use of recipes is an good example. In American recipes, measurement is calculated by grams and the recipe seems to be scientific and accurate. They are always totally accroding to recipes to buy food material and make dishes, and there always an electronic scale in kitchen to accurate measurement according to the recipe. However, Chinese is always cooking at will. They cooking with what they have, and almost anything can be cooked together, such as pumpkin and sweetbell redpepper, pig’s intestines and celery. In Chinese recipes, the amount of material added as a vague concept, such as: “a spoon”, “two bowls”, and “a little”, there is no specific criteria. This lead to an interesting effect that with one same recipe, ten people will make ten kinds of flavors. Some of them are tastely; some are...

Farang Food Review

...= Farang Food by Gill Bater is a recommended book to read to foreigners and Thai alike once they face the challenge of cooking international meals. Farang Food is, as the name suggests, a book that concerns with foods that are outside Thailand's border, mostly on the western side of the world. This recipe book is in its second edition and is printed on good quality glossy stock. This is itself is an important consideration for a recipe book which will spend much of its time in the greasy environment of a kitchen. The copy I have myself have gone through stages of wear and tear, even sribbles from my earlier days of artistic excursions. The book as expressed before is multi-lingual, meaning that a person from more than one ethnic or national background may be able to read it. That is also the main purpose of the book: giving opportunity for those wanting to cook, to also learn a second language. The descriptive detail and instructions within the book are quite simple, a little too simple at times, but it still gets the message across. It is amazing to see that a person is able to squeeze in a 20 step process into a 2 page space. Foreigners living in Thailand have also experienced studying this cookbook. Stanley Kemp, a foreigner living in Thailand who still has a taste for his Western delicacies, stated "...when we returned to 388 John from Jomtien called in for the afternoon so we had a chat about cars, computers and cameras, then Diana made a small chili-con-carne for...
