...The British car manufacturer, Jaguar plc, has experienced a turnaround in profitability over the past four years. As a result of this recent success, the British Government has decided to return the company to the private sector through a public offering of the stock. Through an analysis of Jaguar’s profits over the past four years, it is apparent that the majority of their success can be attributed to the appreciation of the US Dollar. Like any multinational company, Jaguar plc, is exposed to exchange rate risk, and thus it is necessary to acknowledge this risk and appropriately hedge against it. Taking this into account, Jaguar must make strategic and calculated decisions to ensure that the company becomes more resilient to interest rate swings through growing it profits organically. Jaguar needs to mitigate its risk by implementing the proper hedge. We determined that a 50% forward hedge would be appropriate given the exchange rate in place. By using the historical data given, we were able to make forecast predictions for an income statement over a stretch of three years. The rolling hedge will provide a three-year time frame that will allot Jaguar sufficient time to implement its new company wide initiatives that are aimed at driving down costs. ...Bronx Zoo: Jungle World Exhibit General Description: The Jungle world Exhibit at the Bronx Zoo was very interesting. If it wasn’t for this class I probably wouldn’t have ever went there, I am glad that I went because I saw a lot of interesting displays and learned a lot about animals that I have never really known about. My favorite display is the Rainforest display. The display was so real feeling. I saw animals such as ebony and silvered langurs, as well as tree kangaroos, fruit bats, black leopards, tropical birds, toads, and snakes. Jungle World had real plants and full grown trees and flowing water falls, and the only light source came from natural sun light that comes through windows in the ceiling. I learned that Jungle world contains about 90% of all the world’s species of plants and animals live there, but only about half are known to science. The sounds were incredible. The animals made the jungle sound so cheerful and alive. The Jungle was incredible. It was truly amazing to see all of the different animals, and how they all lived in close quarters and kept it alive. When I heard the gibbons singing that was beautiful, I saw how nature alone can make beautiful melodies and duets and flood the jungle with peace and serenity. After foul play, on the part of the brother, the brother-in-law is left abandoned and injured on a rock. A jaguar finds the man and offers to take care of him. The man, who is initially afraid of the jaguar, reluctantly agrees and follows him to his lair. Upon arriving to the jaguar’s lair, the man sees that the jaguar’s wife is spinning. The jaguar’s wife questions her husband as to why he has brought a human to their lair to which her husband replies that the man will now be his companion and their son, and that she is to take care of him. The jaguar goes out to hunt and instructs the man to eat if he is hungry, suggesting eating a piece of tapir, which is cooking on the hearth. However, the jaguar wife says to the man to eat the raw deer instead. This causes tension between the man and the jaguar wife, who bares her claws to the man and he flees into the jungle the jaguar finds the man hiding in the jungle and coaxes him back to their lair and chastises his wife for frightening the man. The next day the jaguar goes out hunting, and again the man and the jaguar’s wife argue over what meat the man should eat. The man runs away again but this time the jaguar offers the man a solution. But when the dog stopped barking on its own Jaguar Paw became suspicious of what was going on outside. That is when he sees an invading tribe member with a torch run by. He quickly wakes up his wife and son and they begin to run for cover as the invading tribe kills many men and women. Jaguar Paw takes his wife and son to a dry well and lowers them into it for safety. One of the invading tribesmen sees Jaguar Paw at the top of the cave and begins to charge to try and kill him.
