Economic reforms implemented by the Real Plan were a response to a bankrupt decade of failed economic plans and high inflation rates. In this period agriculture played a key role in the control of the inflation and in the stabilization of the economy. The domestic environment of the Brazilian economy and the role of agriculture helped Brazil to develop a more active role and led it to seek for a leadership position in the international agricultural negotiations. On the eve on the WTO’s Cancun Round of negotiation a new coalition of developing countries formed the G-20. ...“Hoodwinked” Watching the Documentary film “Hoodwinked,” I realized why being a black male was so hard in America. Growing up as a child I was always taught as to what was the right things to do in my society were, and how to stay out of trouble. But to me I always felt as there was some type of restrictions on life as to what I could and could not do. I mean I saw other kids my age and color out having a ball, living their lives without a care in the world. I even seen some that were once my friends get carried away in a police car. Hoodwinked the documentary film has brightened my horizon as to why some of these things has happened and why I am not just another 1 out of 3 in society. Janks Morton is a brilliant Black man and more people should look up to him as how he is trying to educate the people of color about themselves, especially the young and old black males. In this documentary he has went abound to the black community discussing the facts as to why the things that are happening are happening. It is not because they were raised wrong or simply because they are black, but because of the thoughts being put into each person’s mind. One of the most damaging forces tearing at young black people in America today is the popular culture's image of what an "authentic" black person is supposed to look like and how that person is supposed to act. From classroom observations and personal research the class as a whole was analyzed on how they were able to read and write while also observing the strategies the teacher used to promote these literacy skills. To better understand literacy skills used by the teacher in the classroom there was a meeting between him and I where we discussed different strategies that he incorporates into his lessons. Thus, being illiterate is not the way to get out of that dark hole especially when you have the access to learn it. However, one might think of being literate as a way to simply get jobs or to survive, and I would not disagree with that, but I think that literacy cannot just be defined as the one only might think of it as. Furthermore, the connection between literacy and the form of literacy itself, which people use as a necessity, was also mentioned in Literacy and the Politics of Education by C.H Knoblauch as a functional literacy, and he basically explains that this kind of literacy used when people process the information, such as “reading sets of instructions” (Knoblauch 76). Even though Knoblauch agrees that this type of literacy is the most familiar one, I believe that there are still ups and downs of defining literacy in a functional way. Ultimately, defining literacy as a functional literacy does not really enclose the process of being literate completely, and there is also a limitation with seeing literacy this way because it simply ignores other purposes of being literate such as helping people who are in need.
