John Krakauers book “Missoula” states “ According the FBI’s latest statistics there were an average of 26.8 “forcible rapes” reported in American cities the size of Missoula in 2012---which works out the be 80.4 rapes over three years.” While Krakauers stories are harsh and gore this quote spoke to me more than any other in this chapter. It states the harsh reality of facts. In order to properly combat this problem in our generation we need to adequately appreciate the threat posed in its scope and magnitude.
