...Heroes in my LifeMarianne Abighail I. Credo VII- Titanium Marianne Abighail I. Credo VII- Titanium What is a hero? When can you call someone a hero? Well, Robert Downey, Jr. stated that we all do heroic things, but hero is not a noun, it’s a verb. Involving risk to physical comfort, social stature, or quality of life is heroism. It is also putting others first even at your own peril or danger. Most of us believe that heroes wear capes. But mine are different. My heroes wear smiles which can motivate me everyday to do my best in whatever I do. They are always behind my back when I undergo different challenges, whether in school, during my tournaments, and especially in life. They are always here to protect me and especially to push me to my limits to bring the best out of me. And the heroes I am referring to are my parents. Heroism does not only talk about saving other people’s lives but also talk about inspiring young ones and guiding them to the right path in their lives. In other words, in being a hero, you should act as the role model for the children as they look up to you. Heroes, with all their mistakes, are vital to humanity. As they inspire the children to do great things like helping each other, and how they improve humanity. Role models in our lives, like heroes as well as our parents, and teachers greatly affect the future of the...

...Internet Pornography Use Among Traditional-Aged College Students Joseph Roberson Jr Strayer University Author Note This assignment is being submitted on April 30th, 2013, for Professor Ogtabwe’s SOC100 Intro to Sociology Internet Pornography Use Among Traditional-Aged College Students I chose to review an article out of the periodical called Sociological viewpoints, on Internet Pornography use among traditional aged college students. This article was written by two gentlemen, William Beaver and Stephen Paul, and was placed in the fall 2011 edition. This article was new research as they set out to improve on experiments already done on the topic and find growth in the area. You can tell this is new research because the authors have a previous studies section and throughout the article reference those studies when deemed applicable. To achieve these results they chose to use surveys (Beaver & Paul, 2011, pp25-38). Mr. Beaver and Mr. Paul handed out a 24 question survey to 439 undergraduate students, received 407 responses, attending a private university and community college in Western Pennsylvania (Beaver & Paul, 2011, pp25-38). Those surveyed where primarily enrolled in introductory level social science courses, were between the ages of 18 to 26, and averaged an age of 19.9 years old (Beaver & Paul, 2011, pp25-38). After weighing the variables used and carefully reviewing the responses from the surveys they determined a couple things to be true. When...

Joining Generations

...Joining Generations University of Phoenix Joining Generations Social problems are a rather specific matter for the analysis. A problem can be explained by the fact that there is no uniform opinion among scientists as for the definition of the term, and moreover, the problems can be of various types and kinds. However, the most important point in this is that the interpretation of social problems is rather personal. This means that a problem can be important to one person and absolutely of no importance to another one. But of course, this does not mean that social problems should be interpreted and analyzed subjectively. Even vice versa, the analyst should forget his or her personal views of the problem so, that to ensure its objective analysis. Consequently, social problems should be considered with the help of the strong pieces of evidence. There are small and large social problems and in this paper one of the largest ones will be addressed. Problem The topic of my proposal is the joining of generations in all its aspects. To put it in other words, this paper will suggest a program of the solution of a social problem of lack of understanding and a huge gap that exists between the older adults and children. The problem has always been important in the human society, and nowadays it acquires special significance due to the outside factors that influence the thinking of both social groups more frequently. Among these factors, the following ones...

...Reply Paper to H.J. McCloskey’s Essay: On Being An Atheist H.J McCloskey makes many bold statements in opposition to the most common arguments for theism. To say the least, his bias shows through, even to the point of not seeing the deeper picture. He makes claims against the cosmological and teleological arguments. He then makes a point on how evil speaks against the existence of God. He then concludes with a statement that may or may not be supported by these statements (McCloskey, 1968). The Cosmological Argument McCloskey makes some statements about the necessity of a being that created the universe. He also makes some points about how this being cannot be perfect The Necessarily Existent Being It is amazing how people will require one set of standards for themselves, yet another set of standards for others. This is exemplified in the paper that is presented by H.J McCloskey. He States that proof is required for belief in a god (McCloskey, 1968, p. 51). But he also wants to believe in an origin of the universe in which a bunch of something without origin explodes to create hundreds of thousands of galaxies. Mr. McCloskey wishes to say that one must have proof before they believe. What Mr. McCloskey is not saying is that it would take proof to convince him not to believe in the manner he does. Mr. McCloskey has a belief system which serves his purposes. He has chosen a system that does not have enough solid defeaters to pull it apart. This allows Mr. McCloskey to settle...
