...” Operation Overlord was an Allied landing in France that was scheduled for June in 1944. The operation had many commanders but the overall commander was General Dwight Eisenhower. Operation Overlord is not only notable for the significance it would have in World War II but also use it was an operation that required the kind of logistics that were unprecedented before it.The element of surprise was essential for the operation to succeed, keeping it top secret was a challenge however because of the many parties that participated in the landings, beside the Americans there were also British troops and members of the French resistance present at operation Overlord. The beach the americans landed on is Utah and Omaha. The Canadians landed on Jono. The attitude that the men had about the war and the mission was strong, they felt that the needed to accomplish their mission in order to earn the right to go home. During the scene with the captured German soldier the German machine gunner was made to dig the graves for the dead American and German soldiers. The American sergeant wanted to kill him (which would have been a war crime -killing a prisoner of war), but the Captain convinced him to set the German free. Morally speaking I believe his life should have been saved, but in a strategical thinking sparing his was a very bad idea. Later on the German stabs the Jewish soldier in the bombed-out upstairs apartment while the corporal is paralyzed with fear on the stairs,I don’t think...

Voodoo Religion In Haiti

...initiation is broken down into three degrees, where only a man can make it to the last degree ("AFRICAN VOODOO”). The purpose of the Agabasa-yiyi, or initiation is to introduce the child to the family community in the “living room”("AFRICAN VOODOO”). In the living room children are introduced to the eponymous Ancestor and the child’s Joto is revealed ("AFRICAN VOODOO”). The Joto is a divinity that is sent to the family by the Great Se that is in the child ("AFRICAN VOODOO”). The Joto is a dynamic element, which ultimately molds the individual’s personality ("AFRICAN VOODOO”). “After the Joto is know, he is given a welcome: “Se doo nu we” (You are welcome, O se!), and as his “other self” and under protection, he is welcomed through the rite of Jono Kpikpe (encounter, welcome of the strange, the guest)” ("AFRICAN VOODOO”). The child does not receive the name of his Joto, but he can however be addressed by this name from time to time to remind him of it ("AFRICAN VOODOO”). This is not to be confused with reincarnation. The child is not a reincarnation of his Joto Ancestor ("AFRICAN VOODOO”). Those who have not been through this process have neither personal or community status in the world of Voodoo. After this stage is complete as a child the second initiation takes place, known as Fasinsen. Boys and girls, who are struggling for self-control, must say “yes” to the will of God in order to become stronger ("AFRICAN VOODOO”). At this time the boys and girls present themselves and offer...

Mental disorder affects a person’s mood, thinking and also behavior. The general types of mental disorders include mood disorder, anxiety disorders, personality disorders and psychotic disorders. 2.0 SIGNS & SYMPTOMS OF MENTAL DISORDERS These signs may include the feelings of excessive anxiety, intense fear, odd speech or thinking patterns, marked changes in behavior and mood, withdrawal from social interaction and the lost of interest in activities that are normally enjoyed. 3.0 THE LINK BETWEEN MENTAL DISORDERS AND CRIME Personally, I think that there is a positive correlation between mental disorders and crime. However, not all individuals with mental disorders are certain to commit crime. The possibility of crime being committed by these individuals may depend on external factors which trigger their biological predisposition to violate the rights of others. In the following discussion, I have included several studies which stated that mental disorders may lead to crime. 3.1 SOCIAL DISCRIMINATION & AGGRESSION Results from a study have shown that individuals with psychotic disorders were...

Daenerys

...DaenerysDAENERYS In this city of splendors, Dany had expected the House of the Undying Ones to be the most splendid of all, but she emerged from her palanquin to behold a grey and ancient ruin. Long and low, without towers or windows, it coiled like a stone serpent through a grove of black-barked trees whose inky blue leaves made the stuff of the sorcerous drink the Qartheen called shade of the evening. No other buildings stood near. Black tiles covered the palace roof, many fallen or broken; the mortar between the stones was dry and crumbling. She understood now why Xaro Xhoan Daxos called it the Palace of Dust. Even Drogon seemed disquieted by the sight of it. The black dragon hissed, smoke seeping out between his sharp teeth. “Blood of my blood,” Jhogo said in Dothraki, “this is an evil place, a haunt of ghosts and maegi. See how it drinks the morning sun? Let us go before it drinks us as well.” Ser Jorah Mormont came up beside them. “What power can they have if they live in that?” “Heed the wisdom of those who love you best,” said Xaro Xhoan Daxos, lounging inside the palanquin. “Warlocks are bitter creatures who eat dust and drink of shadows. They will give you naught. They have naught to give.” Aggo put a hand on his arakh. “Khaleesi, it is said that many go into the Palace of Dust, but few come out.” “It is said,” Jhogo agreed. “We are blood of your blood,” said Aggo, “sworn to live and die as you do. Let us walk with you in this dark place, to...
