JOSE RIZAL THE MOVIE
Reaction Paper

Heroes are not about persons having super powers or super strength just to save other people’s life. But it’s about how you make sacrifices and giving everything you have without any hesitation.
The movie Jose Rizal is a 1998 biographical film of the Philippine National Hero directed by Marilou Diaz-Abaya. This movie shows what the real meaning of “patriotism” that was being inculcated in our minds until now. It also shows how noble person Rizal is. It focuses on the condition of society and government at the time of Spanish Colonization in our country. With the use of the written novels of Rizal (Noli Me Tangere and El Filibusterismo), the Filipinos have awaken to the abusive ways and discrimination of Spaniards towards Filipinos. It really gave the picture on how the Spaniards treat us in our own country and rule the government with their own ways. Dominican Friars symbolizes justice and should be followed. Because of that Dr. Jose Rizal started the war by awakening the hearts of his people through his malicious works that gets the attention of Spanish Government and triggers the Filipino people to fight for their own discretion. It shows that being brave is not about killing others but also using the power of mind through writing. The movie had successfully showed the characteristics of a Filipino like being brave in their own way and patriotism. And the most important for Rizal was to give his country the freedom and justice until the end of his life. This movie makes me proud to be a Filipino and proud to have a hero like Jose Rizal, who fought and battled to save his fellowmen and country. He was not only thinking of himself, but also the sake of other people. We should be like him and start loving our country and stop complaining about things that we don’t like, instead we should start helping out in our own simple ways

Reaction Paper to Rizal

...REACTION PAPER IN THE MOVIE JOSE RIZAL The movie tells the life story of Jose Rizal, the national hero of the Philippines. Athree-hour epic on the life and struggles of his poet and patriotisms. It covers his life fromhis childhood to his execution at the hands of the Spanish forces occupying thePhilippines in the late 19th century. We are also thrown into the world of Rizal's novels(filmed in black and white), so we get a glimpse of how he viewed Filipino society under the Spanish heal. The film also through a series of flashback showing Rizal as a genius, a writer, adoctor, an artist, a lover, a friend, a brother and a son, thus giving a rich texture of Rizal’scharacter. The movie introduces us to the life of subjugation of the Filipino people under therule of the Spanish friars. From the execution of three Filipino priests in 1872 for allegedsubversion to the harsh and unequal treatment of Filipino students in the schools, thisfilm is a stinging indictment of Spanish colonial rule in the Philippines.I also commend the film for its bravery in showing the evil tyranny of theCatholic Church during that time. Considering that the Philippines is a Catholic nationthat is like butchering a sacred cow but alas, Abaya works her magic in depicting thesuffering of the Filipinos because of the friars. This is by far the best Filipino movie that I have seen so far. I would urge anyonereading this who likes movies, to either rent it or buy it.I particularly love the last scene of...

Rizal Reaction Paper

... “A reaction paper in JOSE RIZAL: The Movie” A heart warming movie that shows how Rizal runs his life. Marilou Diaz-Abaya, the director, made a very good choice of choosing Cesar Montano as Jose Rizal and Joel Torre as his counterpart as the Crisostomo Ibarra and afterward Simoun in his very proud novel, Noli Me Tangere and El Filibusterismo. This movie Jose Rizal is a great explanation of the Philippine tragic history. I didn’t suffer the 3-hours-movie long. It shows nationalism and heroism in a nonviolent manner, though, there were instances that the characters speak in Spanish and it’s hard to appreciate unless I will read the subtitles. I couldn’t see that Cesar Montano and other characters were having difficulties in reciting their Spanish lines. The plot was full of twists and turns yet still not difficult to follow but it is so confusing to watch because there were too many flashbacks and you won’t even know if it is still in flashback or not. Apparently, some scenes are brutal, and some scenes are unsuitable for young kids such as the bed scenes in the first part wherein the Spanish priest with the used of his power tried to rape the Filipino woman. The amusing surprise was the dedication of Cesar Montano to his role and matched with the good actor Jhong Hilario, played as his servant and a great actor Jaime Fabregas as Rizal’s defense attorney, Lt. Taviel de Andrade, they made the story of Rizal’s life easy to understand. Anyway, it is a very good movie with the...

Bayaning 3rd World (Reaction Paper)

...Jacobo, Emmanuel Joseph 03/09/15 Rizal Bayaning 3rd World (Reaction Paper) Bayaning 3rd world is a complex film done through the form of investigative journalism wherein it attempts to explore the myth around our national hero Jose Rizal. It attempts to answer questions about Rizal’s life that are uncommonly found in Philippine history books while simultaneously investigating his influence on modern Philippine history. The film emphasizes on the fact that most of the Filipino people only sees Rizal as our national hero, our nation’s icon and not the physical reality of the man underneath it. Throughout watching the movie, I couldn’t help but agree to what the movie is trying to depict. I thought what I know about Rizal was enough to understand his life, works and writing but it made me realize that we blindly revere him as our national hero while knowing so little about him. Growing up, we were taught to regard him as our national hero, being given positive facts such as the books he wrote, his feats and accomplishment and how he died a martyr, to the point of blind veneration. Never had we questioned the negative things he has done throughout his life. And that’s what’s this movie is trying to present. Contrary to the movies which immortalized him as hero in the silver screen, it wanted to show us Rizal the human and not Rizal the icon or hero. The movie emphasized on myths/stories and arguments in which reflected upon will surely create doubts about him...

...Reaction paper (El Presidente 2012) “El Presidente” movie brought into life the story of the first president of the Republic of the Philippines, Gen. Emilio Aguinaldo. It is not a film for all Filipinos but only for those who have high regard to Philippine Independence. If you are Andres Bonifacio fanatic, this is not for you. Members of the Bonifacio clan might be of total outrage right now for the film has put Bonifacio in somewhat a ‘bad light. Directed by Mark Meily, “El Presidente” offers a beautiful journey back to history with great action scenes and cinematography. The lines, in Filipino, Spanish, and English are well-thought. Casting big names in Philippine showbiz like Cesar Montano, Christopher De Leon, Allan Paule, Sid Lucero, and Joko Diaz, among others was a good move as they portrayed their roles excellently. Montano‘s portrayal as Bonifacio is believable and is deserving of his Metro Manila Film Festival Best Supporting Actor award though those who have watched him portrayed Jose Rizal might have a hard time picturing him as Bonifacio. Having comedian Bayani Agbayani in the cast is okay, just that his mustache looks funny. The same goes with the other cast who wear funny looking mustaches. The lead actor, George ‘E.R Ejercito’ Estregan, Jr., portrayed Aguinaldo’s character very well though it is hard to believe that it was really him portraying the lead for the film he produced. There’s nothing wrong with that if it’s just for the sake of arts or even if it...

...jake Reaction paper: “EveryChild is Special” What a sigh of relief, after watching the movie. The thoughts is raging through my mind, all at once then suddenly felt melancholic as i can see my childhood days to Ishaan, relating to some of his experiences. But even though, those didn’t manifest obviously to me anymore, there are times when i meet events that brings back the past, i can’t help but somehow feel saddened or cry, which i felt so awkward about. This movie made me cry. Aside from that i can’t really ignore missing my childhood days growing up without my father that i could only imagine now, what it would be like to me? But even how, I am not unfortunate of experiencing the love and care of my grandparents who were always there to stand in my parents’ behalf, because even my mom wasnt around those times as always goes back to abroad to work. Although, i could’nt denied the feeling of being bitter and being incomplete yet as much as i can, i should be strong, as my mother told me that: “We should not feel sorry about whatsoever lapses they had, for even her, my grandparents too have lapses, which proved mans imperfection. But despite of the fact, she asserted that instead “It’s already enough to ever thank our parents for bringing us to world. It’s something very valuable and no worth of money can ever measure. Even though life appeared seems worst to us. We have the ample time to make it right and pleasing because we have a life and given the right...

...Athletic HISTORY The first modern-style indoor athletics meetings were recorded shortly after in the 1860s, including a meet at Ashburnham Hall in London which featured four running events and a triple jump competition. The Amateur Athletic Association (AAA) was established in England in 1880 as the first national body for the sport of athletics and began holding its own annual athletics competition – the AAA Championships. The United States also began holding an annual national competition – the USA Outdoor Track and Field Championships – first held in 1876 by the New York Athletic Club.[14] Athletics became codified and standardized via the English AAA and other general sports organisations in the late 19th century, such as the Amateur Athletic Union (founded in the US in 1888) and the Union des sociétésfrançaises de sports athlétiques (founded in France in 1889). An athletics competition was included in the first modern Olympic Games in 1896 and it has been as one of the foremost competitions at the quadrennial multi-sport event ever since. Originally for men only, the 1928 Olympics saw the introduction of women's events in the athletics programme. Athletics is part of the Paralympic Games since the inaugural Games in 1960. Athletics has a very high profile during major championships, especially the Olympics, but otherwise is less popular. An international governing body, the International Amateur Athletics Federation (IAAF), was founded in 1912; it adopted its current...

...Ang Filipino at Tagalog, Hindi Ganoong Kasimple ni Ricardo Ma. Nolasco, Ph.D. Nangunguna ang Papua New Guinea.

...**1*** The End. Fairytales. Yeah right! As if it's true. My mom told me I used to like reading those kind of books. But right now... wala siya sa interest ko. Ooh.. ok. I remember. Let's start my story with that phrase too. Once upon a time, in a kingdom far far away, there lived a princess who cleaned her closet. Ooopps... corny. Wala kaming kingdom, at hindi rin whatever once upon a time. It's modern day. And fairytales, don't come true in real life. Right now, the closet part was true. I'm cleaning my closet and my drawers. Crap. Crap. How about itong stuff toy na... Fine.. fine!! Mostly, crap for me... not for others. "Hey Dad, I need a ride...
