Junior and Senior Promenade
Vinzons Pilot High School
February 21, 2014, 6:00 PM

Marc John: Good evening ladies and gentlemen. Welcome to the magical land of the Kings and Queens, Prince and Princesses. Where dreams do come true and your thoughts come to life – The Junior and Senior Promenade. Good evening Kaye. You look very stunning tonight!
Kaye: Good evening Marc John. Thank you for the compliment. You also are undeniably dashing this evening. Friends, this must be another once-upon-a-time in the storybook of our Alma Mater wherein we bring reality to our every dream. This occasion promises to be a night of beauty and elegance. This will not be just an ordinary night of glamour for this evening, we will be witnessing our juniors and seniors transform into confident and socially elegant individuals.
Marc John: Also tonight, our seniors will bequeath their responsibilities to the juniors in whose hands lie the future of Vinzons Pilot High School.
Kaye: Friends, there is no better way to start any occasion but through asking the Divine Guidance of the Almighty. Ladies and gentlemen, everyone is requested to stand for a doxology to be led by selected SPA Students.
Marc John: Please remain standing as we honor the national flag. Ladies and gentlemen, here is Chorus Seraphicum.
Kaye: Thank you. At this juncture, may I call on Exequiel Romana, a third year Aluminum student and a junior Supreme Student Government Governor to give us the opening remarks.
CANDLE LIGHTING CEREMONY
Marc John: Thank you Exequiel. Friends, we will now proceed to the Candle Lighting Ceremony. Here is the principal of Vinzons Pilot High School, Mr. Alfonso L. Mendoza Jr., to lead the procedure.
Kaye: To lead the singing of “One Little Candle”, here are Kate Loi Aceron and Katrina Mae Orgeta.
Kaye: Thank you. May the light of the candles continue to spark and illuminate our way towards the achievement of our goals.
TURN OVER
Kaye: We will now proceed to the most important part of this evening, the turn over ceremony. May we request the seniors and juniors who will partake in this ceremony to come up the stage.
Marc John: We, students of Vinzons Pilot High School, are only famous for skills in Mathematics, Arts and the Sciences. We are also well-known for our capability to express ourselves through reading, writing and speaking. Should we allow something that beautiful to fade away? Of course not!
Kaye: Each and everyone here present is a leader but not everyone can lead at the same time otherwise it would be a disaster. Should we let something like this, this leader-follower relationship, to just fade away? As responsible VPHS students, we should pass something this important from one generation to the next.
Marc John: Here is Khrysstin Cabanela, Governor of the seniors, to pass on the Key of Responsibility to Exequiel Romana, Governor of the juniors.
Kaye: The portals of our academe are filled with young and idealistic minds that venture and dive into a new world of authentic journalism. We, as youthful writers and journalists in our own way, know the grandeur of being one, being the voice for the voiceless, being the shout for a whisper.
Marc John: So friends, may we call on Jan Nielle Murillo, this year’s Editor-In-Chief of the Students Publication to pass on the pen to Kyle Cadiz, a representative of the juniors.
Marc John: In every academic contest, be it in Math, Science, Social Studies or in any other discipline, the name of VPHS students are always on the top. Our school always enjoys the glitters of gold, silver and bronze.
Kaye: Can we really call it VPHS if there were no more awards, no more trophies, no more medals? No we cannot, that’s why we must continue bringing home awards that make the school what it is today.
Marc John: May we call on Trojan Troy Pabico, an outstanding quizzer to pass on the medal to Mavy Ngo.
Kaye: One of the most outstanding characteristics of the VPHS students is love for service. Young as we are, we have contributed to uplifting other people’s condition. Always ready to extend a helping hand, we continue to live on the legacy of service
Marc John: To pass on the heart to Sharmaine Gomez is Melycel Francisco.
Kaye: VPHS students are not only recognized for academics. We are also known as one of the most disciplined students in the province. This is the reason for many achievements we have garnered so far. So to maintain this excellence, we must also continue the custom of discipline and integrity.
Marc John: May we call on Jerence Mark Canuto, this year’s COR Commander to hand over the sword to Karl Vincent Maranan.
Marc John: Records will speak for the Vinzons Pilot High School’s excellence in various areas of discipline including sports. It has produced athletes who have won recognition in the local, regional and national sports competitions.
Kaye: May I call on Michael Raven Torres to hand over the torch to Dhon Naing.
PLEDGE OF LOYALTY
Kaye: Thank you very much. This time, our juniors and seniors will give their work of loyalty to the VPHS. To lead the girls in reciting the Pledge of Loyalty, may we call on Queencie Joy Jarcia.
Marc John: To lead the boys in reciting the pledge of Loyalty, may we call on Henson Racho.
INTERMISSION NUMBER
Kaye: To break the monotony, may I call on the stage Hannah Yvette Rabelas and Exequiel Romana to perform a song number. Let us give them a big round of applause.
Marc John: Thank you very much for that very entertaining song number.
Marc John: May we call on Chorus Seraphicum to lead us all in singing “Auld Lang Syne”. Let us give them a big round of applause.
Kaye: Thank you Chorus Seraphicum.
MESSAGE
Marc John: Now, it is time to lend our ears to a message to be given to us by Honorable Mayor Agnes Diezmo Ang.
INTRODUCTION OF THE GUEST SPEAKER
Kaye: This event is made memorable because of the honored presence of tonight`s guest speaker. And to introduce to us this very important person, let us welcome on stage Carina Alexa Bustamante.
Marc John: Thank you very much 2nd Lieutenant Karen Glaze Cabanela for the meaningful and well-pointed out speech. Truly, you have become an inspiration to the young ladies and gentlemen this evening.
RIGODON & COTILLION
Marc John: The moment everyone has been waiting for has already arrived. But before we witness the students groove with their shimmering suits and ties and ball gowns, let us turn back the pages of history.
Kaye: The Rigodon de Honor is an elegant dance which was brought to the Philippines by the Filipinos who returned from their travels abroad during the Spanish era.
This dance also has a format. This particular dance is in a form of a quadrille, a historic dance performed usually by four couples in a square formation.
But for Filipinos, it is not merely a dance but a story as well. The dance itself has a romantic nature. Where, like most dances, the male or rather gentleman leads, while the lady follows.
This dance takes its name from its opening performances at formal affairs such as the President's Inaugural Ball. Members of government, including the President and First Lady, diplomatic corps, and other state officials usually participate in the Rigodon.
So Ladies and gentlemen, with your warm round of applause, let us all welcome selected Junior and Senior Students as they perform the Rigodon de Honor.
Marc John: Thank you.
The Filipino Cotillion tradition is a throwback to the Spanish colonization era and is popular among the upper class of Philippine society.
Historically, the Cotillion de Honor is an integral part of a grand celebration wherein Filipino families introduce their daughter to young men of marrying age who belonged to the same upper-class society.
For many years, the cotillion has served as a reference to a style of formal dance which originated in France in the 1700’s and the practice has been revived in our communities out of a general interest in fostering mannerly, polite and socially skilled individuals.
At this point ladies and gentlemen, let us all welcome, selected Junior and Senior students as they perform the opening waltz of this year’s Cotillon.
Kaye: Thank you.
In a special way, the cotillion places a heavy emphasis on learning manners and deportment, with students being taught how to handle themselves in a formal ball. The “Cotillion de Honor,” is a choreographed dance, usually a classic waltz and performed by young gentlemen and ladies.
With this, the Cotillion offers an opportunity for the participants to learn formal dance, ensuring that these young ladies and gentlemen will be able to perform elegantly and stylishly. Participants in this dance usually wear formal wear so that they can get used to moving in heavy gowns, suits, and the other accouterments of a formal dance.
Today most cotillions are for young individuals as a chance to teach manners and etiquette, and also as a way to socialize with friends and with the community.
So friends, with much anticipation, let us all welcome the young gentlemen and ladies of Vinzons Pilot High School as they perform the Cotillon de Honor.
Marc John: Thank you very much performers.
The Cotillon is also evolving. Recently, a new feature has been added to make this dance significantly more appealing to the younger generation.
As an added part, a disco music or a modern dance is inserted in the repertoire as a way to end the Cotillon.
Ladies and gentlemen, here are the selected cotillon dancers as they perform the buttercup to end this night’s cotillon.
INTERMISSION NUMBER Kaye: Tonight, not only the dreamy-eyed students will dazzle under the moonlight but it is also a chance for our impressive teachers to own the spotlight. Ladies and gentlemen, with your big round of applause, here are the teachers of Vinzons Pilot High School.
CLOSING REMARKS
Marc John: Thank you so much for that amusing number. That testifies how fun our teachers are, right?
Kaye: Yes, Marc John. They are.
Marc John: To formally close the first part of our program, let us welcome on stage Mr. Jason N. Bargo.
Kaye: Thank you very much Sir. We will proceed to the second part of the program. Let us enjoy the night! Let our fancies fill the magical wonders of our hearts! Good evening!

Week 3 Co

...Justin Rodenbaugh Week 3 CO2520 1. The perception factor here is a script. The gentleman ordering food probably expected to just walk up to the counter and order what he wanted to eat. Instead the cashier looks like she is trying to get him to buy something else than what he had ordered. This causes a problem because the man’s posture in the picture seems to indicate that he is annoyed or maybe does not want to order what the cashier is pointing to on the register. This falls in line with the script that the person’s job has laid out for their employees to follow, this can usually lead to people getting annoyed or frustrated when their own personal script for things is added to. 1. Our relationships affect our perception and communication by giving us the ability to perceive and find ways to make relationships work and be comfortable. When we get hurt in a relationship either by betrayal or mistrust, this in turn causes us to look at other people with a look of distrust just because of one person that hurt us, this in turn also helps us later on to perceive whether or not our next relationship later on is going anywhere or falling through the cracks. 2. I imagine the conversation in the picture to go something like this, “Hello welcome and what can we get for you today?” Customer “I would like a number one combo meal please.” Worker “would you like to add our new dessert to your meal?” Customer “No I only want the number one” the worker might then suggest...

Script

...!The script is solid overall and succeeds in presenting a clear, interesting story. The characters are memorable and distinct. I only have a few recommendations for improving the script. !1. The relationship between Jake and Polly !I think it would be nice to have some more background on their relationship together. At some point the reason they are together should be made clear. It would raise the stakes once Antonio becomes involved and allow us to see a more complete character arc for both of them. Without it, some of the dialogue, tension, and conflicts sometimes feel a little bit forced or unrealistic, particularly on page 58, 68, and 77. Particularly on page 77, instead of saying “So I’m selfish now,” maybe Polly can say something acknowledging she made a mistake. That way, Jake will seem more in the wrong once he says something hurtful and it will make even more sense as to why Polly almost hooks up with Antonio. !2. Polly’s Transformation !Much of Polly’s transformation throughout the middle of the script seems a bit shallowly presented—merely through outfit changes and her growing acceptance of Antonio’s taboo behavior and ideas. She mentions that Jake wants to change her, but it seems more that he just wants to bring the old her back. It would be nice to have clarification on that change and why it is so hurtful to her that Jake doesn’t seem to like it. This relates to the tension I addressed in #1. I think there needs to be a moment where Polly fully recognizes...

Although this brings up the question of would people need to be educated or certified to preform in a job. If everything is scripted doesn’t it just come down to you can learn and execute that script? This would also severely hinder the performance of individuals who take their profession very seriously and there performance is above and beyond of what is asked of them. Sticking to the example of teachers, which Schwartz referred to in his video, creativity would be non-existent. We can all think back to teachers who have made classes interesting with there creative teaching styles. However, if Schwartz’s idea of providing a script to teachers were held true, everything would become very vanilla. Practical wisdom is a key term in this video. Practical wisdom in short is doing the right thing and finding ways to achieve what is right. With abundance rules that are set for us, we are told what is right. Thus, eliminating the second part of practical wisdom, which is finding the way to achieve what is right. Schwartz’s idea of making scripts cleans up the mess on the bottom of the spectrum....

...The Python Papers Monograph 2:17 Proceedings of PyCon Asia-Pacific 2010 Experiences in Building Python Automation Framework for Verification and Data Collections Juki Wirawan Tantra jw.tantra@gmail.com Abstract This paper describes our experiences in building a Python automation framework. Specifically, the automation framework is used to support verification and data collection scripts. The scripts control various test equipments in addition to the device under test (DUT) to characterize a specific performance with a specific configuration or to evaluate the correctness of the behaviour of the DUT. The specific focus on this paper is on documenting our experiences in building an automation framework using Python: on the purposes, goals and the benefits, rather than on a tutorial of how to build such a framework. 1. Introduction I work in a growing IC design company that focuses on wireless solutions. The project described in this paper was developed when we were developing the fifth generation of our product. We were facing huge challenges for this project: our product's feature sets have grown so much that manual verification of the features require more than 2 months (and this would involve most of the engineering team doing manual tests). Recent economic situation prohibited any further investment, both for manpowers and tools. However, the project needs to be completed on time, or we would risked losing a significant potential business...

...common traits we all share is families complaining about how the same situation arises again and again, which compels me to talk about the concept of scripts. Description of theory Byng-Hall (1995) states that the metaphor ‘script’ is universal in our culture through theatre, film and most of all television: “All the world’s a stage, and all the men and women merely players” (Shakespeare, As you like it). Because the script theory forms the basis of Byng-Hall’s thinking it provides a link between the theory and family experiences. Although Byng-Hall recognises family therapists have used various metaphors such as family maps; family choreography; family paradigms and family models to describe shared representation. He believes that none of these terms fully represent the ‘drama’ of family life, in the same way as family scripts. The notion of family scripts as described by Byng-Hall is that everyone has the whole family script encoded in their minds, but will identify more with certain roles. Byng-Hall suggests that family scripts can account for how individuals may disown responsibility for what happens and attribute blame to someone else in the family. However he emphasises that this does not imply each person must take on the negative “projection” and identify themselves with it. In fact he suggests a change in script terms, which stems from recognising that everyone has the ability to play a different role in creating scenarios and that in order to solve a problem...
