“Are you guys ready for junior year?”, was the question our teachers asked us before ending our sophomore year. A question in which some of us may have said, “Yes, I am” and others, “ No, not yet”. I was one of the ones that said yes. Perhaps it was the idea that I was entering my third year of high school and that one year later I would be graduating, but I was wrong. Personally, I would not know how I felt the first day of school; probably because of the fact that I did not show up the first week of school. I know, I know I started my junior not so well. The first day I stepped in Godinez High School as a junior, the second week of school had begun. For me, it was not difficult fitting in the first month of school, socially;I had friends …show more content…
Junior year has been the most challenging year for me academically. The addition of AP courses in my schedule made this year a bit more challenging. AP U.S. History was not challenging. Yes I struggled on homework, and yes my DBQ’s may have not been perfect, but the class itself was not challenging. This probably had to do with the fact that I like history, which made this AP class a bit easier. Unlike APUSH, AP English Language was the most challenging class I had this year. One weakness I discovered in this class was my lack in analysis when writing an essay. I did improve on that as well. I am most proud of my adversity paper which I wrote in my english class. That paper is written prove that I can write and explain myself. Sure I may have not gotten 100% but I did earn a B+. We all have proud moments in our life, just like mine was the paper I wrote for my english class , but their was also assignments that I know I could have done much better. My consumer essay for example, was an assignment that got a low score but I know I could’ve done much better. Our teacher gave us about two months and waited till the last minute, something I should not have done. These kinds of mistakes taught me that procrastinating will just make things worst and that teachers give students time for a

...I was in your British Literature class first period my junior year (2011-2012). In this class, I showed my responsibility my completing all my homework, always coming to class on time, completing make up work in a timely manner, and asking for help whenever it was needed. In your class, I was always engaged and learned quickly about different ideas that you covered as the year went along. I was always a willing participant and tried my best to contribute to class discussions by raising my hand respectfully. In your class, I am very proud of my academic accomplishments that I have achieved. Your class has enhanced my understanding of different aspects of literature by assigning several discussions and projects. The class started out in fall 2011with the short research paper on the British literary history from the 1600’s to modern era. I was very proud of the research paper, since I had learned many new things during this project about authors and their books. In addition, I enjoyed discussing classics such as Dorian Gray in my BLBC groups. My favorite one, however, was The Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follet. The book’s plot was rich with action and suspense, which inspired me to read it even more. Analyzing characters in the The Pillars of the Earth with the group was extremely helpful to my comprehension of the book. Furthermore, throughout the year, we had to present on several ideas and themes, which included two different types of sonnets, stories and plays. Presenting helped...

...As my junior year winds down, the final chapter of my book is about to unravel: senior year. However, before I start exploring my horizons, which is going to be filled with new opportunities and memories to be made, it’s best to reflect on my experience in AP Language and Composition with Mrs.Miles throughout junior year. These past 8 months were filled with enlightening experiences. From the discussions and articles of the week to the countless essays we had to write. I believe that Mrs.Miles really focused on our writing skills, which I am awfully grateful that she did. Mrs.Miles has assisted in my growth in writing; as my grammar has improved, including the use of commas, colons, and semicolons. In fact, I am now knowledgeable of the fact...

The Meaning of Meanness

...Tziporah Nockenofsky, 337655518 The Meaning of Meanness: Popularity, Competition, and Conflict among Junior High School Girls Don E. Merten In this qualitative research paper, Merten examines the sociocultural construct of meanness, more specifically how competition for popularity influenced a group of girls in junior high to be blatantly mean to one another. The goal is to understand why meanness was considered acceptable and didn’t threaten the girls’ popularity and perhaps more importantly, to understand the mixture of social and cultural factors that exist behind this cluster of behaviors. Merten approaches the issue of meanness not because of a deficiency in existing field research but in order to focus on the relationship between competition for popularity and meanness. The clique he researched had become so embroiled in their mean spirited behaviors, they acquired a reputation of being the meanest girls in the school. Merten concentrates on analyzing the complicated factors that led to such a social reality. In earlier research of competition and its effects on human relationships, researchers worked from the suspicion that women were by nature less competitive than men. Females were found to prefer to use verbal strategies to diffuse personal conflict rather than confront any open competition. Eventually it...

Argumentative Essay About Junior Year

...The saying that most sophomores and freshman will hear from faculty and other students alike is that junior year is the worst year of high school. With having to give around eight speeches for English class to studying the great nation history through the 241 years of its existence. This can be a great deal for some to handle while others just fly right through it. Being four weeks into the school year, each teacher has set up specific guidelines that seem to be pretty self-explanatory. However, teachers and faculty alike have even stated that the classes are not easy and should not be taken for the faint of heart. In the math department, Algebra II seems to be what most of the students that do not take the advanced...

It is a more comprehensive study than previous Sharia scholar reports. Rushdi Siddiqui puts some challenging questions to four international Sharia scholars to get their view points: • Dr Hussain Hamid Hassan (HHH), eminent scholar and chairman of many Islamic financial institutions • Dr Mohammad Daud Bakar (MDB), international scholar and founder and managing director of Amanie Islamic Finance Consultancy and Education; • Yousuf Talal DeLorenzo (YTD), leading US scholar; and • Dr Mohammad Akram Laldin (MAL), Executive Director, ISRA, Malaysia. Research is an important area in Islamic finance and you are well aware of the Funds-at-Work study, linking scholars to Sharia boards. What is your impression of the study? HHH: The Islamic finance industry is young but growing. It needs specialists, not just in Sharia, but in law, accounting and feasibility studies. There are very few scholars who combine the qualifications and experience needed for this field. Therefore, it is only natural that they would carry a heavy load, for the industry is in need of development and the invention of new products which should be compliant with the Sharia, valid in civil law, and commercially viable...

Personal Goals

...As a professional at Deloitte Pvt Ltd three personal goals that I want to achieve are, first is to complete my bachelor of science in business management in 2 years. Next is to become a better writer. Throughout junior college, writing has always been my weakest point and with the amount of writing assignments required at University of Phoenix this needs to be one of my top goals. Finally is to complete every course with no less than a B letter grade. With making the decision to return to school and taking on the considerable financial burden, receiving an average grade would be unacceptable to my standards.      While being employed full-time, The University of Phoenix has the rare opportunity for working professionals to finish courses in just 5 weeks. Having such a compressed time schedule for completing degrees will make it possible to complete my bachelor of science in business management in 2 years as long as I do not deviate from the program. I have decided that my number one priority in life is to complete my degree. I do not have other major commitments outside of work that will distract me from my assignments so staying focused on school will be realistic. Though I cannot predict the future, I do not plan on taking any time off during the two years that would result in interrupting my class schedule. With the option of taking CLEP test this will allow me to “test out” of some of the lower-division courses such as communication arts and humanities. Although this will...

Educational Preparation

...nurse is the level of education. The Nursing Diploma and two-year Associates-Degree Nurses (ADN) are considered “technical” while a nurse with a four-year Bachelors of Science Degree in Nursing (BSN) is considered “professional”. The distinction of differentiating nursing capabilities based on education arose after the creation of the two-year ADN programs at junior colleges. After World War II there was a sudden growth in junior colleges to support the demand for technical training and education of returning veterans. At the same time there were accelerated advances in medical sciences and facilities and a supporting demand for more nurses. Creative educators, led by Dr. Mildred Montag, starting in the early 1950’s created the two-year ADN curriculum to help meet the growing demand for nurses. “Dr, Montag’s doctoral research, not only as the spark that began the Associate Degree Nursing movement, but also the research base that proved her ideas could work in the real world and established Associate Degree Nursing as the only nursing program that was research proven over time.” However, some educators took liberties and experimented with the ADN curriculum as they worked to provide the best mix of clinical and classroom education. In 1965, the American Nurses Association (ANA) published a position paper titled “A Position Paper on Education Preparation for Nurse Practitioners and Assistants to Nurses.” This paper stated; “the education of all those who are licensed to practice...

Deforestation

...Deforestation Jason Hennessee Axia College of University of Phoenix Deforestation “Dad! Dad! It’s opening day! Can we please go to the forest to watch the boats race?” Junior, age 10, was very excited about the idea of watching the boats race from the relative quiet and shade of one of the forests to border the river. “Sissy already has the car packed for the trip, and I think she even remembered to grab the charcoal this time!” Dean opened one eye. Seven in the morning was a bit early to leave for the boat races thirty minutes away when they started at nine. But, such was Junior’s excitement that Dean forced himself out of his bed earlier than he planned on. “Ok, son. Let’s check Renee’s packing and we’ll see about weather and conditions. Does Mom have her work finished yet?” Anne appeared framed in the bedroom door. “Yeah. I have some more reading to do, but I can do it at the site. The races are not my favorite thing, but you’ll need my help if the kids want to get wet. However, there is something I need to talk to you about. Junior, honey, please go make sure you have a cooler full of water and juice for us today.” Off like a shot, Junior dashed out of the room and Anne went in, closing the door behind her and lifting Dean’s laptop to the bed. “Dean, I think the forest is gone. Check this out.” Dean read the headlines and cutlines of the pictures and articles that Anne showed him. He shook his head as one by one they all told a devastating...
