STATEMENT OF PURPOSE

“Vision without action is merely a dream. Action without vision just passes the time. Vision with action can change the world!” - Joel Barker

Dear Graduate Admissions Committee,

With the aforesaid words clearly engraved in my mind, I have set forth on my journey towards my goal of being a successful Engineering professional. The 'Vision' was set long back while the 'Actions' have been and will continue to be consistent. It is for the same reason that I desire to be a part of your establishment.

(Give details about school like Name, Place, Grades in X and XII).

With good scores of around 86% in the science subjects, I could choose the Engineering stream for my Bachelors study. I took up Electronics Engineering, because of its wide, interdisciplinary span and the ever increasing use in every branch of modern science, from Astrophysics to Medicine. It is a field, rich with opportunities for an entrepreneur. The curriculum of my undergraduate institute, BVM Engineering College affiliated to Gujarat Technological University, Anand, Gujarat, introduced me to the basics of several subjects, such as Digital Signal Processing, Integrated Circuits Application, Basic and Advance Electronics, Digital Communication, Wireless communication, 8085 microprocessors, 8051 microcontrollers and application of theories in practice through lab work and team projects. I was also introduced to the concepts of Communication, Power Electronics, Mobile & Personal Communication and Networking. I have also learned computer programming in C, C++ languages. My interest lies in Communication Engineering.

The measure of my potential is not limited to distinctions and percentages; it is something above all these. It is the thirst for knowledge and consistent learning. Thus, I have also attended various seminars and conferences on Electronics and Mobile Telecommunication. These activities have given me the confidence to actively participate in the process of gaining and sharing knowledge. I am confident that the knowledge which I have gained in my undergraduate level will be the base for my future career.

In addition, I have successfully completed following projects in my electronics field: +5V DC Power supply in 3rd semester - a simple DC power supply used in small electronic machines, Full adder in 4th semester- which adds two 3-bit binary numbers and displays a result 4 tune siren in 5th semester- a siren having 4 different tunes according to the switch pressed A stable Multivibrator- which is basically a sinusoidal wave generator which can be seen on CRO DTMF Remote Control using Cell phone- as a final year project which deals with operating home appliances and industrial machines with a cell phone from a long distance.

My other interests include Surfing the internet to see the latest developments in technology, Cricket, Basketball, Bike riding etc. (Specify competitions/prizes you have won)

I do not believe in surface knowledge but prefer to delve deeper. Thus, I have learned the various Mobile and Satellite Communication modes, streams and modulation techniques, personal communication with mobility management (include BTS, MSC, etc), wireless & satellite communication with various Coding-Decoding type & techniques during my Undergraduate study. By doing Masters Course in communications, I am not only going to earn more knowledge but also move in forward to achieve my professional goal.

USA is the birthplace of some of the major innovations that have graced the world, therefore, that is the best study destination. While browsing through the websites of several universities in the USA, I realized that this is the place where like everyone else my dreams would turn to reality. Learning offered here meets my career needs best.

I am particularly attracted by the research initiatives at XXX University which are squarely in the areas of my interest. Also the course curriculum is designed to groom every professional to his fullest capacity. (Please specify the research areas/profs to make the SOP personalized to each University)

I am aware that the university expects high standards from its students and I am confident and ready to work harder to live up to the standards expected. I would be very grateful to you if I am granted an opportunity to pursue my graduate studies in your esteemed university. Should you have any questions regarding this statement, please contact me on my email id:

Thanking you,

...Sir Mohan Lal Karma is a short story written by the well-known Indian writer Khushwant Singh. The story was published in 1950; however the setting takes place during the 1920-30’s, when India was colonized by the British Empire. The heart of the story is the main character Sir Mohan Lal. He is a middle-aged Native Indian, and belongs to the upper class. He is a very arrogant and complacent man, yet extremely conscious about the image he wants to transmit towards the public and the kind of people he wants to appeal (the British). He worships the British culture deeply. In every fashion he tries to emulate them by wearing their clothes, speaking their language, reading their newspaper and using their products. He hungers for the verification on his manners and English-like demeanor. For example, long before getting on the train he had strategically planned out, how to gain the Englishmen’s attention. His job as a vizier and barrister also entails him to convene with a lot of Englishmen and follow the certain manners he acquired from his five years abroad. On the contrary to Sir Lal’s adoration for the British culture, he abhors his own origin and wants to distance himself as far from it as possible. He has a contemptuous attitude towards all Indians and their culture. He absolutely loathes everything about them and strongly believes that all of them are “inefficient”, “dirty”, and “indifferent”. Unfortunately Sir Lal is married to Lachmi who is the complete opposite of him....

Kamasutra

...The most widely known English translation of the Kama Sutra was privately printed in 1883. It is usually attributed to renowned orientalist and author Sir Richard Francis Burton, but the chief work was done by the pioneering Indian archaeologist, Bhagwanlal Indraji, under the guidance of Burton's friend, the Indian civil servant Forster Fitzgerald Arbuthnot, and with the assistance of a student, Shivaram Parshuram Bhide.[16] Burton acted as publisher, while also furnishing the edition with footnotes whose tone ranges from the jocular to the scholarly. Burton says the following in its introduction: It may be interesting to some persons to learn how it came about that Vatsyayana was first brought to light and translated into the English language. It happened thus. While translating with the pundits the 'Anunga Runga, or the stage of love', reference was frequently found to be made to one Vatsya. The sage Vatsya was of this opinion, or of that opinion. The sage Vatsya said this, and so on. Naturally questions were asked who the sage was, and the pundits replied that Vatsya was the author of the standard work on love in Sanscrit[sic] literature, that no Sanscrit library was complete without his work, and that it was most difficult now to obtain in its entire state. The copy of the manuscript obtained in Bombay was defective, and so the pundits wrote to Benares, Calcutta and Jaipur for copies of the manuscript from Sanscrit libraries in those places. Copies having been obtained...

...ANALYSIS OF SUPPLY CHAIN RISK MANAGEMENT IN THE GHANAIAN MANUFACTURING INDUSTRY: A CASE STUDY OF KAMA PHARMACEUTICAL MANUFACTURING COMPANY INTRODUCTION 1.0 Background of the Study According to Hendricks and Singhal (2005), there is increased awareness and recognition among managers, consultants and academicians that supply chain performance is increasingly important to business success. In other words, supply chain plays an important strategic role in the world economy and that firms are more dependent upon their supply chains networks in order to deliver value. Regrettably, there is also a point of vulnerability in the world economy which are subject to disruptions with significant consequences especially when the disruption comes suddenly, without warning, and with devastation. Handfield (2007) posit that the total set of risks to an organization is much broader. It includes hazard risk and operational risk. Hazard risks refer to weather disasters, equipment shutdown, or product liability, while operational risks include major disruptions such as theft, late supplier deliveries, and IT systems shutdowns and so on. For the purpose of this study, focus shall be placed on operational risk with specific focus on supply chain risk. Generally, supply chain operation is fundamental to the success of any organization. It is critical to a company’s ability to manage global operations, supply and demand volatility, the accelerated pace of new product and services introductions...

UNRISDs work in preparation for the Fourth World Conference on Women focuses on two of the themes highlighted by the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women: 2 inequality in women’s access to and participation in the definition of economic structures and policies and the productive process itself; and 2 insufficient institutional mechanisms to promote the advancement of women. The Institutes Occasional Paper series for Beijing reflects work carried out under the UNRISD/UNDP project, Technical Co-operation and Women’s Lives: Integrating Gender into Development Policy. Aphrodite: Goddess of Love

...Aphrodite: goddess of love I am a big fan of the movie Troy and so many more movies around the 13th BC. I also can’t deny that Brat Pitt is another factor why I like that movie so much. I know the very basic details about the tragic story of Troy. I didn’t know that one of the famous goddess was also involved in this historical event. I only know about this piece of information while researching about all the goddesses in the Greek Mythology. Who was it that helped Paris in kidnapping Helen? In this short paper, I will talk about Aphrodite, goddess or beauty, love, and fertility. Frist of all, most of gods and goddesses had multiple incredible stories about how they were born. Aphrodite is no different. The most popular version of her birth is how she were form from the sea-foam after the genital of the sky-god Ouranos got castrated and fell into the ocean. "Out of the sea was rising lovely-crowned Kypris, foam-blossoms still upon her hair; and round her hovered smiling witchingly Himeros (Desire), and danced the Kharites (Graces) lovely-tressed"( Quintus Smyrnaeus, Fall of Troy 5. 72 ff (trans. Way) (Greek epic C4th A.D.), "STORIES OF APHRODITE 1 : Greek Mythology." STORIES OF APHRODITE 1: Greek Mythology. Web. 21 Mar. 2015. .) Another version is Aphrodite is the daughter of Zeus and Okeanis Titanis Dione. We all love the first version of her story much better because it sounded a lot more unbelievable and almost impossible. It is mythology after all, the more...

Question of Meaning/Purpose. The purpose of life in the Hindu worldview is to perform the proper sacrifices to the Gods. The Hindu religion has four universal goals or purusharthas that shape the meaning of life which are dharma, artha, kama, and moksha. Dharma is harmony, Artha is wealth and power, Kama is pleasure, and Moksha is liberation. ...good and evil, existence of one or multiple Gods, conceptions of God, the soul, and the afterlife. Relating to religion, life means to know and understand the mystery of God; to love and glorify God by enjoying Him forever, be at the heart of the Divine; to have a pure soul and know oneself, others and the will of heaven. Hinduism In hinduism, life's meanings are defined four goals (aims) of human life which are called the four purusharthas. The four purusharthas are: Dharma, Artha, Kāma and Moksha. In Sanskrit, ‘Dharma’ means one's destiny or purpose. In general, it refers to one's vocation or career. Dharma also means righteousness, duty-conscious, being virtual, living morally and ethically at all times. Artha is prosperity, wealth, money or success in worldly pursuits. In addition to leading a virtuous life that meets specific social and personal obligations, a Hindu should strive for success, in any given activity through lawful means within the bounds of dharma. Kama means the physical, emotional, and intellectual desires of a person. As stated in bhagavad gita, “he who performs his prescribed duties out of desire in the right manner will obtain the fulfilment of all the desires and reach the deathless state”. Moksha, the ultimate end of every Hindu's life, can be understood in a variety of ways: liberation from rebirth, enlightenment, Self-realization, or union with God. This is considered to be the highest purpose of life. A person who overcomes desires...

...The Baldwin-Wallace College Journal of Research and Creative Studies, Fall 2007, 1(1):12-24 Performance of the South Korean Automobile Industry in the Domestic and United States Markets Robert R. Ebert1 and Mariel Montoney2 1 2 Department of Economics, Baldwin-Wallace College, 275 Eastland Rd., Berea, OH 44017; Economics Program, Baldwin-Wallace College, 275 Eastland Rd., Berea, OH 44017 The South Korean automobile industry has undergone considerable growth since its inception in the 1960s. That growth was initially driven by domestic demand. Since the Asian financial crisis of 1997, however, production increases for the South Korean automobile industry have been primarily a function of export sales. The research presented here explores changes in the structure of demand in its two principal marketsdomestic South Korean market and the United States market. Two models of demand are developed- one for each of the markets. Several macro economic variables are identified that have a statistically significant relationship with the demand for automobiles in each of the markets. An interesting finding of the research is that the factors apparently driving demand are different in the two markets suggesting the structure of automobile demand in South Korea differs significantly from the demand for that country’s vehicles in the United States. A major challenge facing the South Korean automobile industry is how to utilize its capacity when confronted with...
