Our government has compromised on the liberties in the name of general welfare typically on amendments one and ten, that the founders believed in the sanctity importance of the individual liberties guaranteed in the Bill of Rights. One issue that was a violation of rights on the citizens was the Kim Davis situation. Davis was an elected county clerk in Kentucky where after the legalization of gay marriage, she refused to sign and give marriage certificates to the gay couples because it went against her religious beliefs. She was arrested for violating the freedom that every individual had for choosing to marry whoever they want after gay marriage become legalized. The government violated her rights to practice her own religion by arresting …show more content…
Free exercise clause of the first amendment has two parts, one is the freedom to believe and the other is the freedom to practice religious beliefs. The Supreme Court has held that individual have an absolute right to freedom of belief or conscience and therefore no one would be punished for practicing their religion because this freedom is given in the 1st amendment of the Bill of Rights. Although our government “tries” to enforce the laws of the Constitution and the freedom it gives, it also restricts it by trying to please the general public. Although, when the health of the community must be balanced against the religious beliefs of an individual or group, public health is considered to be more important. I disagree that our rights should be taken away for the public health especially because we are granted freedom in the Bill of Rights because they are granted to us and if the government starts to take away some of our freedoms it will have no end to

A respectable amount of work dealing with the technology acceptance model (TAM), from its first appearance more than a quarter of a century ago, clearly indicates a popularity of the model in the field of technology acceptance. Originated in the psychological theory of reasoned action and theory of planned behavior, TAM has evolved to become a key model in understanding predictors of human behavior toward potential acceptance or rejection of the technology. The main aim of the paper is to provide an up-to-date, wellresearched resource of past and current references to TAMrelated literature and to identify possible directions for future TAM research. The paper presents a comprehensive concept-centric literature review of the TAM, from 1986 onwards. According to a designed methodology, 85 scientific publications have been selected and classified according to their aim and content into three categories such as (i) TAM literature reviews, (ii) development and extension of TAM, and (iii) modification...

What Drives Consumers to Shop Online? a Literature Review

...Emerald Research Register for this journal is available at www.emeraldinsight.com/researchregister The current issue and full text archive of this journal is available at www.emeraldinsight.com/0956-4233.htm IJSIM 15,1 What drives consumers to shop online? A literature review ˜ ´ Tonita Perea y Monsuwe, Benedict G.C. Dellaert and Ko de Ruyter Maastricht University, Maastricht, The Netherlands Keywords Information media, Internet, Purchasing, Shopping Abstract While a large number of consumers in the US and Europe frequently shop on the Internet, research on what drives consumers to shop online has typically been fragmented. This paper therefore proposes a framework to increase researchers’ understanding of consumers’ attitudes toward online shopping and their intention to shop on the Internet. The framework uses the constructs of the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) as a basis, extended by exogenous factors and applies it to the online shopping context. The review shows that attitudes toward online shopping and intention to shop online are not only affected by ease of use, usefulness, and enjoyment, but also by exogenous factors like consumer traits, situational factors, product characteristics, previous online shopping experiences, and trust in online shopping. 102 Introduction Despite the slowing penetration of regular Internet users, the number of consumers using the Internet to shop for consumer goods and services is still growing (Forrester Research, December...

What Are the Most Important Factors That Influence Customer Satisfaction When Buying Online?

...and examine the significance of a consumer acceptance and continuance model for online group buying through the integration of entertainment gratification and perceived risk with the Technology Acceptance Model. A quantitative study was conducted and data were obtained through a mall-intercept systematic sampling distribution of questionnaires. The results indicate that perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use and perceived risk all have a significant relationship with consumer attitudes, which subsequently has a significant effect on intention to use online group buying sites. While entertainment gratification was found to be insignificant, we reveal some possible reasons for this finding. The implications of the findings and future research directions are also discussed. Keywords: online group buying; consumer acceptance and continuance. INTRODUCTION The rapid growth of information technology (IT), the Internet, and the e-commerce boom have created significant opportunities that are characterized by a lack of spatial boundaries [43]. Dawson [9] suggests that three particular types of IT investment have led retailers to become more profitable: (1) knowledgebased investments provide more creative ways to run enterprises; (2) alliance-based investments between businesses work to generate new or reinforce existing competitive positions; and (3) productivity-based investments seek to achieve cost reductions or substitutions in particular business units or processes. To this end...

...University of Technology, The Netherlands a r t i c l e i n f o a b s t r a c t Purpose: Smartphones facilitate the potential adoption of new mobile applications. The purpose of this research is to study users and non-users of three selected mobile applications, and find out what really drives the intention to use these applications across users and non-users. Design/methodology/approach: The authors measured actual usage of mobile applications in a panel study of 579 Finnish smartphone users, using in-device measurements as an objective way to identify users and non-users. A web-based survey was used in collecting data to test an extended TAM model in explaining intention to use. Findings: Perceived technological barriers negatively affect behavioural control, reflecting people’s assessment of themselves being capable of using the services without trouble. Behavioural control is directly linked to perceived usefulness (except for games) and perceived enjoyment, as hypothesized. Perceived enjoyment and usefulness were generically found to explain intention to use applications for both users and for non-users. Research limitations/implications: With regards to the impact of social norms, the study finds that further research needs to be done in exploring its impact more thoroughly. The dataset of the research, consisting purely of male-dominated, young smartphone users, make the generalization of results difficult. Practical implications: There are differences...

Internet Addiction

...appears to be a growing concern, especially in Asia, for what has been labeled “Internet addiction.” In particular, certain Asian countries report it as a serious public health issue. Liu Guiming, deputy secretary-general of the Chinese Society of Juvenile Delinquency Research, has been quoted as saying "the growing number of youth infatuated with unhealthy Web sites and campus violence has become an urgent social problem.” A leading Beijing judge, Shan Xiuyun, also declared that 90 per cent of juvenile crime in the city was Internet-related” (Sebag-Montefiore, 2005).As a result of these concerns, governments in South Korea, Japan and China have set up boot camps, which provide therapy to deal with Internet addiction (Ransom, 2007). China has also issued a ban on new Internet cafes to clamp down on Internet addiction (Watts, 2007). Yet, there are those who doubt whether this outcry is justified or even valid. An article in the American Psychological Association newsletter suggests that there is little empirical evidence to support the existence of Internet addiction and much of the research in this area utilizes self-selecting samples with no control groups (De Angelis, 2000). In light of this controversy, his paper seeks to examine Internet addiction in Asia. Specifically, it reviews the academic and empirical literature to address the following questions: * What empirical evidence is there in...

Factors Affecting the Consumers' Adoption Intention of E-Wallet in Malaysia

...wallet. Usage of credit cards, cash or checks had been reduced due to the advancement of technology and emergence of e-Wallet. E-Wallet is an easy-to-use, convenient electronic prototype which acts as a secure global payment system by using only a mobile smartphone. This study is directed towards developing a model to explain the consumer's’ intention to adopt e-Wallet in the social context. It adopts Consumer Need for Uniqueness Theory based on the concept of Counter-Conformity Motivation (CCM) also known as Need For Uniqueness. Many researchers had explored the relationship of consumer’s intention to adopt on the technological usage context. However, little research in social context had been carried out. Therefore, this paper aims to examine the factors affecting the consumer adoption intention in social context. This paper found that CCM, self-identity and word-of-mouth (WOM) are the salient determinants in this study of knowledge of consumer adoption intention in e-Wallet. Keywords: e-Wallet, intention to adopt, counter-conformity motivation, need for uniqueness 1.0 Introduction According to the historical evidence, the first use of money is assumed to have started around 600 BC in term of coins (Davies and Davies, 2002). Recently, many large business companies in different part of the world have been applying both strategies (hybrid strategy) at the same time, rather than applying a single strategy at one period of time. The implementations of those three strategies are commonly used by the big giant companies where their business operations level is ranging from domestic, regional, international and global. Thus, the principal aim of this paper is to explore the application of these three strategies (cost strategy, differentiation strategy, and hybrid strategy) in various business companies. ...Facebook as a learning tool. The proposed model is based on previous models of UTAUT. Constructs from previous models were used such as performance expectancy, effort expectancy, social influence, facilitating conditions, hedonic motivation and habit. Additionally, two new perspectives were added: perceived advantages and perceived relevance of Facebook as a social media platform. It provides some insights into students' behavioural intentions, and such an understanding can help faculty to examine their assumptions about the role of social media technologies in the teaching and learning process. The study participants were students enrolled in a Spanish public university. Data from 956 usable questionnaires were tested against the research model. Our results provide support to the model and reveal a good model fit. In light of these findings, implications for theory and practice are discussed. Introduction Social media technologies are progressively incorporated into the learning and teaching process (Jimoyiannis & Angelaina, 2012; Martin, Diaz, Sancristobal, Gil, Castro & Peire, 2011; Sadaf, Newby, & Ertmer , 2012; Veletsianos, 2012). Out of the 100 questionnaires, only 64 useable questionnaires were returned, yielding a response rate of 64 percent. Results were subsequently analyzed by using multiple regressions. The influencing factors are analyzed under the four major factors Perceived Risk, Trust, Convenience, Relative Advantage under which several other factors have been explored.
