They both involve the object traveling.

Yes it is possible for acceleration to be negative, because the definition of acceleration is the rate in which an object changes velocity. So a negative acceleration would be an object slowing down. Example if a car going 60 km/hr and slows down to 50 km/hr that would be negative acceleration.
4. What is the difference between angular and linear motion?
The difference between angular and linear motion is angular motion is rotating around an fixed point or axis, linear motion is movement from point A to point B.
