The Kootenai Native American Tribe is a very strong and faithful group of Native Americans that most people do not know much about. I hope that you like to learn because we are going on a journey into the history of the Kootenai and their famous leader Charlo Hudson. The Kootenai Tribe are a tribe that you should know about and I will teach you their lifestyles and some of their traditions.
The Kootenai have many things that they use ,including items for transportation and to get resources. For example they make canoes out of birch bark. They also make sail boats and canoes out of deer hide and logs that they hollow out. They would call their boats a sturgeon nose style floater. They also use horses for transportation. They acquired in the 1700s. They traded other goods for the horses and made a deal with the blackfeet. The Blackfeet were normally enemies of the Kootenai tribe. The Kootenai used many resources to their advantage. They were smart with their resources and had a great life. Some of the tribes that they fought against waisted many needed resources.

His name was Chief Charlo otherwise known as (Hudson Charlo). Him and his tribe lived in the 1600s and did many things to keep the Kootenai spirit alive. He had many people that were always mad at him. They were mainly the white people that were mad at him. The whites did not like him because they accused him of a stealing a horse.The Kootenai had a great tribe that did many things that made their tribe stand out to other tribes.
