Topic: Introduction to Kunming quasi-stationary front

Kunming is the capital city of Yunnan province that located in the Southwest of China. It is a city where has the spring all the year round. That means the changeless spring-like climate causes by the Kunming quasi. Kunming quasi also named as Yungui quasi. (Yungui------the Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau) It is generally formed by the interaction of metamorphic continental polar air and Southwest air current which was stuck into the Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau. The clouds would be low and thin that makes the weather sort of rainy as result. That is why people live in Kunming always say "the sunny days in Kunming will never last long" as a joke. In fact, about 50% of the Kunming quasi will mostly formed during winter. Its frontal surface locates between Kunming and Guiyang in the direction of Northwest----Southeast. January and April are the peak seasons of Kunming quasi but almost disappear in July and August which is no more than 3 days in average. In fact, most of the Kunming quasi-stationary front were not quite stationary at all. Instate, they are waving in a limit area. What is more, it will move towards South in the daytime and back up north at night. The weaker Kunming quasi is, the more intensely movements it will be. The slope of the frontal surface would be considering as small which usually less then 1/250 but great area that it will cover. The temperature, sunshine, wind and relative humidity are discontinuous between the frontal surfaces. The same situation as the climates. For example, most of the area in the Southwest of frontal surface is under the effect of Single warm air which has a wide expanse of clear, sunlit sky in a higher average temperature as 7.7℃ in January while the other side is under the cold air zone where has both 5.0℃ as average temperature and rainy weather that rains more than 15 days. Since the cold air become stronger, the frontal surface of Kunming quasi will locate in the west of Kunming. The east part of Yunnan is under the frontal surface. The temperature decreases dramatically which brings the rainfall. Therefor forms the special climate in Yunnan which is spring-like all the year round. A local folk adage "The vernal climate that without neither scorching nor severe cold" could be the best description of the result of the effect that produces by the Kunming quasi-stationary front.

John Adams

...to where he puts his hope into. John Adams showed exactly where he had his hope, in the Colonies and in the idea of freedom. His hope in the Colonies helped him keep his head high when everything seemed lost. The idea of freedom is such an abstract idea, but what Adams envisioned was exactly what the Colonies needed. With his hope in the places necessary, he was able to keep the revolution alive. The disciplining of one’s mind and tongue is a task that takes an enormous amount of effort. Adams was able to perform this task rather quickly, and when the situation deemed it necessary. The instances in which he used this skill were when he mended the traumatic damage between the Colonies and England, and making peace with France during the quasi war. The...

Business Law

...In the following case, Express versus Implied Contracts. Suppose that a local businessperson, McDougal, is a good friend of Krunch, the owner of a local candy store. Every day on his lunch hour McDougal goes into Krunch’s candy store and spends about five minutes looking at the candy. After examining Krunch’s candy and talking with Krunch, McDougal usually buys one or two candy bars. One afternoon, McDougal goes into Krunch’s candy shop, looks at the candy, and picks up a $1 candy bar. Seeing that Krunch is very busy, he catches Krunch’s eye, waves the candy bar at Krunch without saying a word, and walks out. An express contract is where the terms of the agreement are fully and explicitly stated in words, oral or written. An implied contract is where the plaintiff furnishes a service or property, the plaintiff expected to be paid for the service or property, and the defendant knew that payment was expected, or the defendant had a chance to reject the services or property and did not (Miller and Jentz, 2008). This would be considered an implied contract. Based on the history that McDougal goes into the candy store every day, spends time looking at the candy, and almost every time buys a candy bar. The time that Kruch the store owner was busy, McDougal picked up a candy bar and waves it to Krunch and walks out. McDougal would have paid for the candy bar at a later time, and would be implied based on his actions. The fact that the store owner did not say anything and remained...

Monte Carlo Analysis

...Monte Carlo Statistical Analysis Name Course Instructor Date The Monte Carlo method is a mathematical method used for problem solving through the generation of random numbers and then observing a fraction of these numbers and the properties they obey. It is useful in obtaining numerical solutions to problems that are too complicated for analytical solutions. It is a form of probability used to understand the impact of risk and uncertainty in various areas such as financial and cost forecasting. It involves computation of the likelihood of given events occurring or not occurring, without taking into account the interaction of the elements involved in influencing the occurrence. The mathematical method was invented by Stanislaw Ulam in 1946 and named by Nicholas Metropolis after a classy gambling resort in Monaco, where a relative of Ulam frequently gambled [ (Fishman, 1996) ]. Concepts of the Monte Carlo method Uncertainty Being a forecasting model, there are assumptions that need to be made due to the uncertainty of various factors. One therefore needs to be able to make estimations of the expected results as they cannot predict with certainty what the end value will be. Important factors such as historical data and past experiences in the field can be helpful in making an accurate estimate. Estimation In some cases, estimation may be possible but in others it is not. In situations where estimation is possible, it is wise to use a wide range of possible values instead...

Marketing in China

...Marketing in China Before the reforms, under the command economy, Chinese companies took order from the state in production and push the products through state-controlled distribution systems. They never had to advertise, to do consumer research, and to think about marketing strategies. For years, even after the opening and reforms, many Chinese still consider marketing western concept of a dubious practice, something that may be not valid or applicable in China. Marketing proves to be one of the most challenging parts of China operations, perhaps more so than other areas such as accounting, finance, or research & development. For several reasons, First, infrastructure in marketing is underdeveloped, including transportation systems, media development, labyrinth of multi-tier distribution channels, and the severe shortage of qualified marketing personnel. Firms attracted to the longterm potential of this vast country must remember to pay sufficient attention to the basics of producing, distribution and marketing a successful product (Country Commercial Guide 1998), Marketing Strategies In the early 1980s when MNCs first came to China, many thought of China as a huge market with a homogeneous culture and felt standardized global marketing would be effective in capturing the opportunities and improving efficiency. These feelings were confirmed by the desire of Chinese to acquire western technologies and their fascination with products from the West. After living in an economy of...

Maritime Power of Chaina

...The Maritime Strategy of China in the Asia-Pacific Region Origins, Development and Impact HUANG, AN-HAO Submitted in total fulfilment of the requirements of the degree of Doctor of Philosophy August 2009 School of Social and Political Sciences Faculty of Arts The University of Melbourne Produced on archival quality paper ABSTRACT This thesis aims to examine how and why a continental-oriented China has shifted its maritime strategic orientation and naval force structure from its coast toward the far seas in an era of interdependent international system. Generally, China is an ancient continental land power with an incomplete oceanic awareness. With the transformation after the Cold War of China’s grand strategy from landward security to seaward security, maritime security interests have gradually become the most essential part of China’s strategic rationale. Undoubtedly, the quest for sea power and sea rights has become Beijing’s main maritime strategic issue. Given China’s escalating maritime politico-economic-military leverage in the Asia-Pacific region, its desire to become a leading sea power embodying global strategic thinking means that it must expand its maritime strategy by developing its navy and preparing for armed confrontation in terms of international relations realism. Conversely, Beijing’s maritime policy leads at the same time towards globalization, which involves multilateralism and strategic coexistence of a more pragmatic kind. This research...
